Withholdings

I am new to the national scene, having only ever worked locally, and am wondering how state tax withholdings are handled when you work as an employee for a company outside of your state of residence? Are you responsible to pay your own state taxes or does the company withhold them? Does the company pay into your state's unemployment, disability, etc. as they would if they were doing business in that state? If it makes a difference I am located in CA.
