I have a rose...sm
I have a rose on my right shoulder, well the back of my shoulder. I've had it for about six years now. It's the only one I have. I have considered getting another, but just haven't come across the right one yet. If you are going to get one, make sure it is something that has some meaning for you as it will be there forever. I would definately advise against putting anyones name on your body, even if it is your spouse. The only name I would ever put on me would be my child's name.
As far as the pain goes, I won't lie to you...it does hurt. Depending on where you get it on your body will depend on just how bad it will hurt though. When I got mine, the pain was not all that intense. It feels kind of like a bee sting...that continues and continues until they stop with the needle. Getting the outline done is the worst part as the needles are a bit larger. The part on mine that hurt the most was when he was near my shoulder blade and that is because when you are over bone it is going to hurt worse because there is not a lot of muscle there to cushion it. The good news is, when they stop, the pain stops. At least that's how it was in my case.
Another thing...to prevent your tattoo from fading as fast (and your tattoo artist should tell you this if he/she is good) if you are in the sun make sure you put sunblock on your tattoo. It is good to put sublock on your body anyway, but make sure especially to put sunblock on your tattoo, as the sun is a sure way to drain the color out of your tattoo a lot faster. I got mine done a little over six years ago and it still looks like new. Also, if you do decide to get one, follow the aftercare instructions very carefully. My tattoo artist had special ointment to put on the tattoo after it was finished, but I understand that A&D ointment (for diaper rash) works well also. You have to keep it moist to prevent it from scabbing over.
Bottom line is, a tattoo is a life-long piece of artwork for your body. You should pick something that is meaningful to you and put it in a place that you would like it to be. Personally, I would never put one in a place that could not be covered up if need be...but that's just me.
Good luck!
Thanks, Rose........... sm
I have tried this numerous times and have been on the phone with my ISP tech support gang multiple times, only to be told that the problem must lie with my computer. It would seem that something is keeping my wireless computer from receiving a signal from the router, but I don't know what it is. The wireless receiver is only about 6 months old.
Hi Rose
The only other info I want to know is, are you hiring? Just kidding (sort of :)). Good for you, though. You go, girl!
Rose, - see message
I believe Sten-Tel has quite a few of the hospital accounts in Long Island. In fact, a few years ago I worked for a hospital in Nassau County while I lived in Manhattan, and they unfortunately outsourced to Sten-Tel.
However, there is a hospital in Manahawkin, NJ called Southern Ocean County Hospital, and they are looking for a radiology transcriptionist. It might be worth a shot to see if they would be interested in have a telecommuting position to you!! It would be worth a shot.
Rose, get this again.. unbelievable but
I was told by the company I work for that I was not supposed to refer to them, they do their own choosing. Well, ok, I only tried to get in contact regarding this 1 time and needless to say, would you try again? I think not. I do love VR and work part-time now and make enough in those days to pay my bills, etc. Good luck with whatever you do!

Twas the night of Thanksgiving, but I just couldn't sleep. I tried counting backwards, I tried counting sheep.
The leftovers beckoned--the dark meat and white but I fought the temptation with all of my might.
Tossing and turning with anticipation, the thought of a snack became infatuation.
So I raced to the kitchen, flung open the door and gazed at the fridge, full of goodies galore. I gobbled up turkey and buttered potatoes, pickles, and carrots, beans, and tomatoes.
I felt myself swelling so plump and so round, 'til all of a sudden, I rose off the ground.
I crashed through the ceiling, floating into the sky with a mouthful of pudding and a handful of pie.
But I managed to yell as I soared past the trees, Happy eating to all--pass the cranberries, please!
May your stuffing be tasty, may your turkey be plump. May your potatoes 'n gravy have nary a lump.
May your yams be delicious, may your pies take the prize, May your Thanksgiving dinner stay off of your thighs.
WISHING YOU ALL A THANKFUL THANKSGIVING
see Rose's message above; appears to be more to this.

wishing disaster on anyone is
no matter how strongly you feel, you should never, ever wish disaster on anyone. Don't you know that could come back to bite you in the butt...not a nice place to be bitten...except by you hubby maybe! For real though, that was cruel. Too many innocents suffer when a disaster like a hurricane or tsunami sweep through, not just the ones you wish it on. Remember, be careful what you wish for, you just might get it!
Wishing I had so many options!!
Boy do I wish I had the option of cable vs DSL vs dialup! The cable line ends 1,000 feet from our home and they will extend the line for a mere $10,000 (yes, you read that correctly). For DSL we are to far from town. I even purchased satellite but there was a 10 second lag from the time that you punched in a letter to the time that it appeared on the screen so it was virtually useless for transcription. MQ had told me that I could not do NW acct with dialup 3 yrs ago so I purchased the satellite $500 later after the lag and and service charges and when I told them that I would have to quit they said "Well you can use dialup too". Go figure. Amherst office boo hiss.
aw man, it's too cold, but I'm wishing!
Wishing it to slow down
I hope it slows down, I don't even have my house decorated yet. Came back from two days off and had 18 tapes waiting for me. All are average of 25 minutes or so, some longer. Hardly any short ones. I give back 8 and get 6 in return. Thank goodnes have 3 docs taking off starting the 17th and then can breathe. Have had several docs say that hospitals are full right now in Portland and hard getting patients in and getting surgeries scheduled so hospitals are full here too. Guess I will count my blessings.
I was WISHING it would work, lol. Just me and

Any good ideas for rose bushes? sm
I'm thinking of planting rose bushes along our new fence and just can't decide from all the varieties. I do want some that bloom all summer long and are winter hardy. Illinois can be brutal sometimes.
The Rose. Good luck to your daughter. nm

Well, of course there are other companies doing the same. Take off the rose colored glasses and
:P
Rose, I had asked pretty much the same question...
a while back. Here's what I gathered: QA is generally paid by the hour (at my company it's about 15 to 18/hr). Apparently it IS easier on the hands/fingers/wrists. That is why I was considering it--starting to get tingling/pain in my hands at times. Unfortunately for me, I make a bit more than 18/hr so I would have to actually take a pay cut. Don't know it that would be the case for you or not.
I only have about 10 years' experience. With your 25 years maybe you could find a better hourly somewhere.
Good luck in whatever you do.
I've been wishing I could retire since I was still
Sure don't see it in my future, though, unless I win the Lottery, and most times I can't afford to play.
Weird, isn't it? I had two Rose of Sharon bushes, one I bought for my mother
and planted it in her yard. The other I bought for myself and planted it in my yard. My mother passed away in 1993 and my bush died a month later. My father passed away in 1996 and that bush in their yard died a month later. Both passed on in August, 3 years and 5 days from one another. Makes you wonder.
That's a great news Rose, my thoughts and prayers are with you and your daughter
guess, that all we could do for now.
Totally agree. Don Juan climbing rose is nice, too. sm
I love my antique rose, but wish the flowers lasted longer.
My dear friends husband has died. He was truly Australia's Rose.

It's not about a "sense of empowerment". Not wishing to make you look dumb but
it's about expressing your true feelings instead of playing some sort of game when someone says something so incredibly without logic or they don't UNDERSTAND THE CONCEPT (as you did) and JUMP TO AN UNFOUNDED CONCLUSION that somehow but telling someone they are not the brightest bulb on the planet and they bore me gives me "sense of empowerment". You been listening to too much psychobabble and did not PAY ATTENTION TO THE CONCEPT OF THE POST.
By the way, I do not feel a "sense of empowerment" after this post to you. I feel that the world is populated by not-so-smart people who don't read well and that is depressing me.
I keep wishing it was a nightmare and I could wake up and everyone in that area was just living and

No - I do not want implants or a mastopexy - I was just wishing for nature to take care of it!
My breasts are of a nice size naturally. I am not vain - underwire bras are fine for me.
It was fun visiting here. Wishing you a great day! Bet Hope Con - that is all that TV is capable of:

Nice to be thought of...wishing you happy thanksgiving as well...(no message)

Here I sat feeling so incredibly lonely. Wishing I could meet my soul mate
All the men I have ended up with sound like the guy you are with. Takes all the courage I have to pick up and leave them but staying with them destroys my sense of self esteem, my sense of humor, and dulls my passion for life.
Now, sitting here, quietly, sipping a capuccino, sitting in a robe, having no expectations (unrealistic) of me, not having the guy in my world stifling me or doing something out of this world to send my spiraling into my mind trying to figure out what he is thinking ...orrr the always present poor financial state that I always seemed to end up in when with a guy (my dad was alcoholic - had tendency to be with men who had character traits of addictive personality types)and all I can think of is life is passing me by cause I am not with a man.
There are worst things than being alone. Why do I forget this???
Follow your gut. Your kids will thank you. Children deserve a happy mom and you deserve to live the life you envision.
Was going to suggest that you wait to buy as I have a feeling some homes will end up in foreclosure as the interest rate increases and the monthly payments on ARMs and interest only loans increase, but if you have a small town that may not be the case.
Let us know how things go.
It was fun visiting here. Wishing you a great day! Curious is feature of Standard TV: http://moviele

Any rose gardeners out there? Good roses that are disease proof and smell good?
I heard good things about Knockout Rose but they don't smell too much like traditional rose. Supposedly blooms all season.
With short arms, I need chair with shallow seat, good back support and high back. Want arm rests
:+
OK! I'm glad you're back down here. Now don't go back up there and read those evil posts ag
Okay? But I have to leave you now, sadly. Thousands of noble dictating doctors are anxiously awaiting my help with their "dictations"....They're all loading up on chips, drinking lots of soda so they can burp, and then have to go to the bathroom...You know the routine! Off I go to earn some pennies!! But, truly, I am thankful that I have a job!
PS.. It apparently worked..I heard back and already submitted the paperwork back.
I'm not sure how many people they are hiring but you shouldn't stress too hard over it. Do the best you can.
I would not do them back to back - I have done 2 and 3 jobs at the same time -- all PT - sm
It is possible to do of course but you will burn out fast. Now I do one almost FT (about 30 hours a week) and the other is about 8-10 hours a week-- I still get beat doing that and that is w/o set hours. I find that the older I get the harder it is to work late and I am only 40! But a mid afternoon 30-minute cat nap helps a lot in order to keep going on busy days.
How do you set your computer back 1 day. I messed something up and need to go back 1 day.
NM
Yes, you get back to work now. Go back to
some routine, and it does start to hurt less. I know And remember, she is still there at work with you. Always will be. I figure at this point I have a whole herd of loved dogs under my desk each day - along with a couple horses, hamsters, parakeets, rabbits...If only I could see them - must be quite a happy zoo! But I know they are all there I sense their love.
Can't anyway. Just get them back. sm
I actually tried to dump a report today, which I never do, because it somehow got into my pool in error (not my area of expertise), but it jumped right back up at me after the next report. So I decided to just do it. I don't know how well I did, but I did it. It was over 150 lines long and took me forever. Lo and behold, 5 reports later, same guy, same type of report 145 lines. Second time around was easier and faster though. The way I see it is that if I get negative feedback, I'll let them know that those kind of reports really shouldn't come my way.
But cherry picking for line count is just plain wrong.
I did, but then I came back to it.
The other jobs I took involved quite a bit of computer use, too. I got tired of the office politics and other garbage, so I'm doing MT again. Now, I prop my keyboard up with a block of wood, although you can use a telescoping keyboard drawer/shelf to do the same thing. I have a habit of letting my wrists rest on the keyboard, so I had to modify it to get my hands into the proper position. It might have helped if I had taken piano lessons. LOL The only time my wrists ache now is if I work too much, which has been the case lately. I don't know if it would be helpful for you to try. I've been doing data entry or some form of computer input work for 17 years now, so I'm hoping carpal tunnel or repetitive motion injury isn't definitely in my future.
Going WAY back here
It's been a long time and I'm not "up" on the lingo, but by reformatting, do you mean you re-indexed?
I would go into whatever function that is where you can re-index all files or functions and do that.
If you still have problems, it might be that a file has been corrupted somewhere. That happened to me on that program a couple times. I'm not sure if it was the dictionary, but something somewhere stopped working right and I had to reload the entire program.
Be SURE to back up your autokeys immediately just in case you have to reinstall the program.
Can I get back to you about this later?
WAY BACK WHEN
It used to be that we were treated as valued employees, treated with dignity, and actually felt like the higher-ups gave a damn about us. Length of service meant something and those who were dependable never had to worry about running out of work. I knew I would be taken care of. Never did we get cheap plastic crap as a Christmas present - we got real, thoughtful presents to show their appreciation for the hard work that they knew we did. It's pretty much like night and day - nobody gives a damn anymore about us. It used to be the only thing I knew I could depend on to be stable in my life was my job. Not anymore.
Yes, they could pay us better back then
because they weren't paying 2 people for one job (speaking of QA here). If you weren't a good, accurate transcriptionist, you didn't have a job.
Way back
I never heard the word at the time. It was fabulous! No turnaround time. I could shop all day and work all night. The service I worked for told me she wished she had 10 of me! Nice? Christmas parties and $100 bonuses! Flowers when a relative died. It was fun!
I think I might even go back further...
I recall using white-out and yellow-out for carbon copies (the REAL carbon copies) which had to be corrected separately. OH my... but I'm afraid I don't miss all that at all! LOL. I think it was okay to use the white-out until a couple years later, or maybe 10? Yeah, I'm old.
And 8 or 9 books? Did they even make that many back then? I can recall having a PDR and a word book that was separated into specialities. Oh, and the surgical word book. It was red. I am visualizing it now.
My form of research was more like finding the chart and going from there. Ah, but that was before production. Remember those days?
I wish I could remember the name of the first word processor I used. It was a mess!! More trouble than it was worth, but on the cutting edge of technology... and I was there!!
And here I am now, an MT dinosaur, getting ready to start using ASR...
Yeah, DixieDew, we have come a long way.
But miss it? Do you remember the noise those Selectrics made? And I complain sometimes because I can't stand the clicking of the keyboard when I have barely audible dictations.
One more thing... and please tell me if you miss this... "Standard" reports that you had to copy type instead of just having them appear on your screen with a few keystrokes. I used to HATE standard reports to the point of tears!
Okay, my ranting and reminiscing is done for now.
Thanks for the walk down memory lane. :)
Come back
That Alice was bad, bad, bad. Are you and "her" coming back tonight though?
I will back you up too
I was told the same about two years ago by recruiter in Midwest. She did not give specifics, but basically said that the full time employees would get priority if the work was low.
I wish they would come back!
No doubt Zipper, Chucky, MQLOVER, and Frankie Boy made this board alive - I would rather laugh in hysterics with their words than to listen to the same ol, same ol'!
By the way, admin confirmed it was not the same person posing as all of them!
You never go back
Truly - once you make the switch, it is absolutely impossible to switch back to a standard. Give yourself a couple of days is all.
I know .....been there....won't go back.
A person can only take so much hurt ......I keep my distance now. Family can hurt you the most because you love them the most. For me, it is easier and less hurtful to pull back and keep my distance. The less I know, the better off I am.
My children and I always were disregarded in a similar manner. We just see some family members on holidays. I tell my kids, mommy and daddy will always remember you and give you gifts...not to look elsewhere for them.
Be proud of your sons..they are real gentleman and not materialistic. It hurts, but guess what, they will be stronger for it.
Hugs and more hugs to you!
