Wishing you all a
Twas the night of Thanksgiving, but I just couldn't sleep. I tried counting backwards, I tried counting sheep.
The leftovers beckoned--the dark meat and white but I fought the temptation with all of my might.
Tossing and turning with anticipation, the thought of a snack became infatuation.
So I raced to the kitchen, flung open the door and gazed at the fridge, full of goodies galore. I gobbled up turkey and buttered potatoes, pickles, and carrots, beans, and tomatoes.
I felt myself swelling so plump and so round, 'til all of a sudden, I rose off the ground.
I crashed through the ceiling, floating into the sky with a mouthful of pudding and a handful of pie.
But I managed to yell as I soared past the trees, Happy eating to all--pass the cranberries, please!
May your stuffing be tasty, may your turkey be plump. May your potatoes 'n gravy have nary a lump.
May your yams be delicious, may your pies take the prize, May your Thanksgiving dinner stay off of your thighs.
WISHING YOU ALL A THANKFUL THANKSGIVING
wishing disaster on anyone is
no matter how strongly you feel, you should never, ever wish disaster on anyone. Don't you know that could come back to bite you in the butt...not a nice place to be bitten...except by you hubby maybe! For real though, that was cruel. Too many innocents suffer when a disaster like a hurricane or tsunami sweep through, not just the ones you wish it on. Remember, be careful what you wish for, you just might get it!
Wishing I had so many options!!
Boy do I wish I had the option of cable vs DSL vs dialup! The cable line ends 1,000 feet from our home and they will extend the line for a mere $10,000 (yes, you read that correctly). For DSL we are to far from town. I even purchased satellite but there was a 10 second lag from the time that you punched in a letter to the time that it appeared on the screen so it was virtually useless for transcription. MQ had told me that I could not do NW acct with dialup 3 yrs ago so I purchased the satellite $500 later after the lag and and service charges and when I told them that I would have to quit they said "Well you can use dialup too". Go figure. Amherst office boo hiss.

Orthodox Easter
What a great celebration we have! Our Easter falls after Western Easter (different calendar). We take our food to church in a basket and have it blessed, then share and enjoy to break the fast. The basket contains things that have meaning, i.e. a candle (Christ is the light of the world), eggs (new life), salt (salt of the earth), special bread (breaking bread), kolbassi or ham or both (breaking the fast having not eaten meat for 40 days), cheese (also breaking the fast of dairy product), honey (the sweetness of Christ is Risen), red beats with horseradish (the bitterness of crucifixion), and various other items depending on what part of Eastern Europe you came from. It is an incredible celebration.
Easter recipes sm
It is very difficult for me because my children married different faiths and it used to be that we (before they married) would go to church and then to a restaurant (our favorite) as a special treat for family style soup, salad and main course. Of course, the "new" family had to kill this plan since the other side did not like our Church. Too bad. I started to cook brunch after service which included: Coffee or tea, lots of different juices, bacon, ham (spiral), fried potatoes (home fries), waffles (finally woke up to buying prepared and frozen), lots of syrup, butter, fresh strawberries and blueberries, some favorites of the grandchildren (one liked cantaloupe, another's favorite was my homemade sugar cookies, another liked my peanut butter cookies). I cook for days but it's worth it. Know how I got rewarded? The "other" moms got so jealous, they started to offer "brunch" instead of the traditional dinner (ham and all the trimmings, sit-down style).. I was frustrated at this, but I still try. Why don't people realize that "life is temporary" - whatever works for you. Since someone "stole" my brunch idea, I offer nice foods still, at whatever time their schedule (allows) them to show up; not necessarily breakfast, but some rented "childrens movies" with no pressure. As long as we build it, they will come. However, my brunch was sooooo popular, I'm glad someone "stole" it from me. It's kind of like having MT account "stolen" from you, it's not the same quality, but you have to realize that copying you is a true compliment and you should enjoy it. BTW (by the way) I have a bit of Polish in me, so I thoroughly enjoyed the kielbasa aspect of Easter, I slice it up and cook it first in a little water to get rid of the grease. Then I recook it using currant jelly and slice it, put wooden toothpicks in there and let them munch. Easter should be fun, no matter what religion you are in or out of, "He" would just like you to have fun on His special day, or more especially a family day, never mind what you believe in or choose not to believe in. It's a fun day!!!

Easter Dinner
Hi there...We usually make a smoked ham for dinner with potatoes, carrots and angel biscuits but this year my kids want an Italian Easter. So I guess I'm going to be making lasagna and a side salad with garlic bread. We also make my grandmother's homemade Italian sesame seed cookies, coosidadas and amaretti cookies. Have a great Easter and happy eating!
Hoppy Easter!
Here's hoping a very happy Easter comes hopping your way!
Wishing it to slow down
I hope it slows down, I don't even have my house decorated yet. Came back from two days off and had 18 tapes waiting for me. All are average of 25 minutes or so, some longer. Hardly any short ones. I give back 8 and get 6 in return. Thank goodnes have 3 docs taking off starting the 17th and then can breathe. Have had several docs say that hospitals are full right now in Portland and hard getting patients in and getting surgeries scheduled so hospitals are full here too. Guess I will count my blessings.
I was WISHING it would work, lol. Just me and

Hmm, so is Easter anti-biblical?
The word "Easter" itself appears nowhere in the bible because its roots have nothing to do with Christianity:
Easter is a time of springtime festivals. In Christian countries Easter is celebrated as the religious holiday commemorating the resurrection of Jesus Christ, the son of God. But the celebrations of Easter have many customs and legends that are pagan in origin and have nothing to do with Christianity. Scholars, accepting the derivation proposed by the 8th-century English scholar St. Bede, believe the name Easter is thought to come from the Scandinavian "Ostra" and the Teutonic "Ostern" or "Eastre," both Goddesses of mythology signifying spring and fertility whose festival was celebrated on the day of the vernal equinox. Traditions associated with the festival survive in the Easter rabbit, a symbol of fertility, and in colored easter eggs, originally painted with bright colors to represent the sunlight of spring, and used in Easter-egg rolling contests or given as gifts. The Christian celebration of Easter embodies a number of converging traditions with emphasis on the relation of Easter to the Jewish festival of Passover, or Pesach, from which is derived Pasch, another name used by Europeans for Easter. Passover is an important feast in the Jewish calendar which is celebrated for 8 days and commemorates the flight and freedom of the Israelites from slavery in Egypt. The early Christians, many of whom were of Jewish origin, were brought up in the Hebrew tradition and regarded Easter as a new feature of the Passover festival, a commemoration of the advent of the Messiah as foretold by the prophets. (For more information please visit our Passover celebration - Passover on the Net). Easter is observed by the churches of the West on the first Sunday following the full moon that occurs on or following the spring equinox (March 2I). So Easter became a "movable" feast which can occur as early as March 22 or as late as April 25. Christian churches in the East which were closer to the birthplace of the new religion and in which old traditions were strong, observe Easter according to the date of the Passover festival.
What is your idea of Easter dinner?

Easter Dinner What are you making?
For those preparing an Easter dinner, what are you making this year?
My son's birthday is on Easter this year
he will be 8. On Saturday we are going to have his birthday bash at the bowling alley...he is very excited!! On Easter we will be going to my parents house. They just moved into a brand new, three story home. They sold about 13 acres of land in the city limits of Greensboro, NC. That is a hard thing to come by. The developer will be developing 302 townhomes on the property. It will be very strange to see that when it happens. My grandmother lives with my parents 6 months out of the year. The other 6 she lives in Florida. She's home right now because of the move, so she will be making Easter dinner. I don't know what she will make, but I'm sure there will be ham. Her cooking is so good that it doesn't really matter what she makes though!! Since it's my son's birthday, (and my birthday is two days later), it will also be another birthday celebration...so there will be homemade birthday cake! Can't wait!!
I've been wishing I could retire since I was still
Sure don't see it in my future, though, unless I win the Lottery, and most times I can't afford to play.

Has anyones account seemed a little slow since Easter?

It's not about a "sense of empowerment". Not wishing to make you look dumb but
it's about expressing your true feelings instead of playing some sort of game when someone says something so incredibly without logic or they don't UNDERSTAND THE CONCEPT (as you did) and JUMP TO AN UNFOUNDED CONCLUSION that somehow but telling someone they are not the brightest bulb on the planet and they bore me gives me "sense of empowerment". You been listening to too much psychobabble and did not PAY ATTENTION TO THE CONCEPT OF THE POST.
By the way, I do not feel a "sense of empowerment" after this post to you. I feel that the world is populated by not-so-smart people who don't read well and that is depressing me.
I keep wishing it was a nightmare and I could wake up and everyone in that area was just living and

Here I sat feeling so incredibly lonely. Wishing I could meet my soul mate
All the men I have ended up with sound like the guy you are with. Takes all the courage I have to pick up and leave them but staying with them destroys my sense of self esteem, my sense of humor, and dulls my passion for life.
Now, sitting here, quietly, sipping a capuccino, sitting in a robe, having no expectations (unrealistic) of me, not having the guy in my world stifling me or doing something out of this world to send my spiraling into my mind trying to figure out what he is thinking ...orrr the always present poor financial state that I always seemed to end up in when with a guy (my dad was alcoholic - had tendency to be with men who had character traits of addictive personality types)and all I can think of is life is passing me by cause I am not with a man.
There are worst things than being alone. Why do I forget this???
Follow your gut. Your kids will thank you. Children deserve a happy mom and you deserve to live the life you envision.
Was going to suggest that you wait to buy as I have a feeling some homes will end up in foreclosure as the interest rate increases and the monthly payments on ARMs and interest only loans increase, but if you have a small town that may not be the case.

MT. LAUREL, N.J., Aug. 19 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- MedQuist Inc. (Pink Sheets: MEDQ - News) announced today certain preliminary, partial and unaudited financial results. Once the Company completes the financial assessment and review of its billing practices disclosed in the Company's previous filings with the SEC, the Company expects that an independent registered public accounting firm will review and/or audit the Company's financial statements, as appropriate. Notes:
(1) Information presented for the twelve months ended
(2) Information presented for the three months ended
(3) Information presented as of the date
Twelve months ended December 31, 2003
Revenues:
Preliminary, unaudited results indicate that the Company's revenue increased from approximately $486 million for the twelve months ended December 31, 2002 to approximately $490 million for the comparable 2003 period. The increase was largely the result of twelve months of Lanier operations being reflected in 2003 results as compared to six months of Lanier operations being reflected in 2002 results, as the acquisition of Lanier Healthcare LLC took place on July 1, 2002, largely offset by transcription service volume declines as well as declining pricing from both new and existing transcription clients.
Operating Income:
Preliminary, unaudited results indicate that operating income declined from approximately $71 million, for the twelve months ended December 31, 2002 to approximately $61 million for the comparable 2003 period. The decline in operating income is largely the result of transcription service volume and rate declines, partially offset by the result of twelve months of Lanier operations being reflected in 2003 results as compared to six months of Lanier operations being reflected in 2002 results, as the acquisition of Lanier Healthcare LLC took place on July 1, 2002.
Balance Sheet Highlights:
At December 31, 2003 the Company had $162 million in cash and cash equivalents. At December 31, 2003, the Company had less than $100 thousand in total debt. Other than minimal exercises of stock options, there were no additional issuances of capital stock or other securities for the twelve month period ended December 31, 2003.
Twelve months ended December 31, 2004
Revenues:
Preliminary, unaudited results indicate that the Company's revenue decreased from approximately $490 million for the twelve months ended December 31, 2003 to approximately $456 million for the comparable 2004 period. The decline in revenues includes the impact of decreasing transcription service volume from existing and lost clients, partially offset by new clients, as well as the impact of pricing declines attributable to a competitive pricing environment. Additionally, the Company has recognized declines in revenue from its front-end speech recognition products as it transitioned from TalkStation to SpeechQ for Radiology.
Operating Income:
Preliminary, unaudited results indicate that operating income declined from approximately $61 million, for the twelve months ended December 31, 2003 to approximately $23 million for the comparable 2004 period. The decline in operating income includes: 1) the impact of approximately $11 million in costs incurred in 2004 related to the ongoing billing investigation and associated litigation, 2) approximately $4 million in costs associated with separation and replacement of the Company's management team, including members at the executive level and 3) approximately $3 million associated with the write-off of intangible assets associated with products no longer being offered. In addition, the base business, as described above in the Revenues section, experienced a decline in transcription service volume from existing and lost clients and a decline in transcription service rates charged to customers. The impact of the revenue decline was partially offset by several cost saving initiatives including reductions in telecommunications costs, office consolidations and associated staff reductions.
Balance Sheet Highlights:
At December 31, 2004 the Company had $196 million in cash and cash equivalents. At December 31, 2004, the Company had less than $100 thousand in total debt. Other than minimal exercises of stock options, there were no additional issuances of capital stock or other securities for the twelve month period ended December 31, 2004.
Six Months ended June 30, 2005
Revenues:
Preliminary, unaudited results indicate that the Company's revenue decreased from approximately $232 million for the six months ended June 30, 2004 to approximately $213 million for the comparable 2005 period. The decline in revenues includes the impact of the result of reductions in contracted transcription service rates from existing clients, further affected by new transcription business service volume replacing lost transcription service volume at a lower average price. Management expects these pricing pressures to continue and for revenue in the second half of 2005 to decline from first half levels.
Operating Income:
Preliminary, unaudited results indicate that operating income declined from approximately $20 million for the six months ended June 30, 2004 to an operating loss of approximately $8 million for the comparable 2005 period. Operating income includes 1) approximately $16 million in costs incurred in 2005 related to the ongoing billing investigation and associated litigation, which represents an increase of approximately $11 million over similar costs incurred for the comparable time period in 2004 and 2) approximately $3 million in costs associated with separation and replacement of the Company's management team, including members at the executive level, which represents and increase of approximately $2 million over similar costs incurred for the comparable time period in 2004. In addition, the base business, as described above in the Revenues section experienced a decline in transcription service rates charged to customers. The impact of the revenue decline was partially offset by several cost saving initiatives including reductions in telecommunications costs, office consolidations and associated staff reductions. The Company continues to strive for improved profitability through service and technology enhancement initiatives, along with other cost reductions.
Three months ended June 30, 2005
Revenues:
Preliminary, unaudited results indicate that the Company's revenue decreased from approximately $114 million for the three months ended June 30, 2004 to approximately $106 million for the comparable 2005 period. The decline in revenues includes the impact of the result of reductions in contracted transcription service rates from existing clients, further affected by new transcription business service volume replacing lost transcription service volume at a lower average price. As noted above, management expects these pricing pressures to continue and for revenue in the second half of 2005 to decline from first half levels.
Operating Income:
Preliminary results indicate that operating income declined from approximately $7 million for the three months ended June 30, 2004 to an operating loss of approximately $6 million for the comparable 2005 period. Operating income includes 1) approximately $9.5 million in costs incurred in 2005 related to the ongoing billing investigation and associated litigation, which represents an increase of approximately $5.5 million over similar costs incurred for the comparable time period in 2004 and 2) $1 million in costs associated with separation and replacement of the Company's management team, including members at the executive level.
Balance Sheet Highlights:
At June 30, 2005, the Company had $198 million in cash and cash equivalents and no debt. There were no additional issuances of capital stock or other securities for the six month period ended June 30, 2005.

Article? As in one? This is an entire industry, and
has been going on for decades - I believe it was the 1960s when the food processors and dog food conglomerates figured out their partnership would profit them both. Its not an article, and to think so is honestly just ignorant. Also most huge dog food producers are actually other companies that have no interest in dogs at all - Del Monte and Heinz are in the dog food biz. Have you seen labels lately of the name brands that now claim to have some tomato enzyme in them? I can't recall the name, but it is literally a tomato enzyme that they claim is a new discovery for being great for dog joints. Its literally the tomato swill that Heinz and Del Monte use to have to throw out as its the slop that lands on the floor after Ketchup production, etc. Now, they just hose it into vats and throw it in the kibble ooze with a fancy label that most consumers fall for- tomato enzyme. I only wish I was making this up!! And its not a scam industry nor are we extremists. Most of us don't promote any brand at all - best thing for Spot and Fido is boring old meat, marrow bones and a few veggies steamed, and brown rice. The leftovers that our parents and grandparents and great-grandparents used to feed their dogs - table scraps - were fine! Again, do the research. Decades ago, dogs used to have an average life span of 20 to 25 years - now its 10. Cats used to live longer - 30 years - now its 15. And our parents and their parents would have laughed hysterically at the thought of spending good $ on Gravy Train or Alpo. We have been "had" as American consumers, and you are actually gonna argue about it! Your vets - bet they support Pedigree, too, which is absolutely garbage - dead animals and loads of corn filler, which, by the way, most dogs are intolerant of. They don't digest corn well. But its cheap for the manufacturers! Pedigree is well known for keeping lots of vets on its payroll to praise its products - gee, ya think they might like the $$. There are thousands more vets who know Pedigree and the like is garbage and are finally getting the courage to speak up about it. They are getting sick and tired of treating the animals who are NOT benefitting from this dog food. Nope, sorry, but way more than 1 article - its knowledge, and knowledge is wisdom, and wisdom is priceless.
Are you saying you left the entire report sm
blank because you could not understand the dictator? If so, no company will put up with that. Even if you can only understand every third or fourth word, you are expected to transcribe those, and put in blanks as you need.
No one will put up with you leaving an entire report blank and sending to QA. They are not supposed to transcribe, just try to fill in the blanks.
How do you know you missed 2 on the entire exam?nm
