Why would you....

In Reply to: Question for ICs about SS and federal tax. I am new at this and I am wondering if you can pay - ICMT

want to pay the Feds more often than quarterly?  Just wondering.  Is it because you would be tempted to use the money and not have it available when quarterly tax time comes?

At any rate, I am sure the Fed Govt would be more than happy to get your money every week if you wanted to pay that way (like an employee does, every week or every two weeks or whatever pay schedule they are on).  Just send them your money. Make sure you do it by check, put your SS# on it, and a designation that it is 1040-ES 2006, or whatever they instruct you to do.

If you decide not to pay them biweekly or monthly or whatever, and want to pay quarterly, whenever you get paid, put your tax percentage in a savings account, let it do a little (albeit VERY LITTLE) bit of work for you by earning some interest, and send the Feds their big piece of the pie quarterly (or yearly if your accountant advises that).
