your rights". Sheesh. That's how silly you all are. Blah, blah, blah on here 24/7 and I guarantee you that's the extent of your yaw. Otherwise, you'd be sharing some pertinent communications you've had with the people who MATTER - like your supervisors, managers, etc. And I don't like change? Sweetie, I go with the flow and have changed with this career every step of the way - starting back typing on a manual typewriter with 8 colored carbon copies and matching colors of "liquid paper" and listening to tapes, and now using state-of-the-art platforms with voice recognition as well. I'm happy, and still love my job. Thank you for your unstated concern! You have a problem with your work flow, dictators, you call your superiors and have it taken care of. If they don't "change" it to your liking, that's your answer - the handwriting is on the wall, so to speak! You're getting what they want to give you regarding work! Pounding your chest in words on this message board under an assumed name is nothing short of ludicrous. and over and over and over and over and over again....ya, ya, ya, cherry pickers, Indians, cherry pickers, Indians....yawn yawn. Ya take up good board space and don't realize how totally FOOLISH you look... snore.... But its your "breath", and your precious energy wasted, so go for it!! Heavens you should direct your complaints to the proper channel!!!!

It is disturbing the peace if they bark incessantly.
We have a bark collar for our dog and bring her in if she's barking. She barks at anyone that walks by, which is what I want because she's our guard dog. Our neighbors aren't so nice. I've gotten to the point where I just lean out the window and yell, "SHUT UP!!!!" I don't like to involve the cops or animal control because our neighbors are the type to retaliate.

Oh, you misunderstood me. I was tested at 70 wpm on a typewriter, not a computer, without the benefit of word expanders. I do use Instant Text, I do put everything in it that I can find. However, I have no "normals" and have never had a day when all I did was mammos etc. It's always different and only very rarely (less than once every day) do I get a "normal". I find myself wondering if there isn't something else I can do to speed up or if I'm just getting the "crappy" jobs. You know 5 lines here , 10 lines there. All requiring me to open and close in Meditech (you know if you've used it... Return return return to file). Where do you find a national that will let you do CT's or MRI's or even mammo's all day long? My dictation is comprised of 75% x-ray reports (short) and 25% CT's, MR's, etc. Is there a company out there that let's you do mammo's all day? If so, please tell me who and where!
Anybody can anonymously 'drop a dime'
on anyone in this type of situation - relatives, nosy (possibly vindictive) neighbors, a nurse in the ER who doesn't think the doc is doing his duty, store security, people in a public parking lot who only get a license plate number. Obviously the more detailed and specific the information, the more seriously the report will be taken.
Doctors are obligated to report if they suspect abuse and if what the doc dictated led you to suspect abuse, the doc probably did as well. There's just no telling if he actually did follow through on this. Generally, when I have transcribed such a report the doc has actually said that a report would be made to the proper agency. It's right in the report.
The doctor's account of the situation would carry far more weight than yours, especially as you would be unable to give many details. If you decide to make the call, don't forget to block caller ID on it. If you don't subscribe to that feature for all your calls, dial *67 before dialing the number. That way nothing should come back to bite you. It's only self-protection.

This is the main message board. If you notice, not much on this page is directly related to MT. This is where we go to talk about anything else non-MT related.
One guy posted on message board, saying he was on his laptop in the car.
He said they are doomed if they do not open up the highway going the opposite direction, as you said. And, fuel is an issue, needless to say.
Mandatory evacuation should have been ordered soon, they are saying, as opposed to voluntary.

as a business owner can get. I'm glad I DID NOT apply with this company! Sounds too high maintenance, high stress, negative, dictatorial and critical for me.

Congrats...how have I not been supportive? I never called you anything nasty or said anything negative...I merely stated sometimes you have to suck it up...ESLs are never going to get any easier...you just have to adapt...and the pay will get better once you prove yourself...I think you just don't like the reality of the situation...sorry for being honest...

you would think one would have more important things to do than write opinions on MT boards for posters named "busy" who apparently have some sort of a degree and want to be a doctor. my daughter is a full time "busy" drug rep and getting a master's degree and certainly doesn't have time to post on chat boards. i can't imagine going to college and holding a full time job like busy mt especially preparing for such a demanding profession as MD. something's just not right here.
I saw on this board a long time back
a suggestion that helped me. put the drugs in your Expander using maybe the first 3 consonants, ie, lidocaine is ldc. Sometimes i'll use 4 letters. for some shorter words i'll spell it out in expander, and cap if necessary. you may wish to make some exceptions to the rule too, ie for me, Neo-Synephrine is neos.

I do not have to make this up at all. My husband then on dialysis at the same hospital where I worked and this physician on the staff there. My regular doctors there, husband's nephrologist there, I felt in a bind in my ability to do anything at all. I know mistakes made in plastic surgery as far as blotch jobs sometimes but I would think similar has happened before and after me. If I had worked somewhere else, I probably would have persued it further but I could not chance it, raising children and sending to college also. I was behind the 8 ball. I don't know why people come down so hard on another on these posts. If you don't believe, fine, no problem. I thought that $3,000 was not worth my losing my job, losing my insurance on my husband including burial which I had to use eventually, all income. Just didn't make that much sense to me and let it go. Thanks again for your post above!
Try standing
There are desks on the market that can be raised and lowered so you can stand at your station and type for awhile and then sit back down. This may help some people who find it difficult to sit for 8 hours. Just a thought. Some people work better standing and some sitting.

You are so correct in that the reign is so tight, it is hard to get ahead. Medquist is probably the worst place ever. Those people there are not happy either, so you're probably lucky you lasted a week there.

I know it sounds a little strange, but sometimes I just plain get tired of sitting and have thought if I had a raised tray for the keyboard and could easily elevate the monitor, it could work.

Free-standing keyboard tray
I found a free-standing keyboard tray that might be handy for travel. There is a picture of it at this site. Here is the link:

There is also the possibility that someone was standing in line for an elderly person, again
we don't know cause we are not there.
We had two different sizes. The problem is they tend to flatten out instead of standing upright. sm
So if you buy one that says it is 42" deep you really only get about 36-38" deep out of it. You are better off to buy a different kind of pool. We bought one that is a kit, but has a frame to it and is much, much better than the ones with the blow up ring. It is made by Intex and it is blue also, but made of a tough liner type material. It has a metal frame that you build (only took 45 min. to put it up)and it actuall stands up like a real above ground pool. Very nice and not much money..about 350.00 at Walmart for the whole kit, pool, filter, et cetera.

you shouldn't struggle with having problems. support is there to help us and they are good at their job. as with any new acct, there are always gonna be some kinks. i had some to work out as well with my end of the system. it doesn't sound like something you can fix; probably something with how the two tie in together. did you log out and back in and see if that helped?
About whining
I didn't mean that anyone in particular was "whining." I know there are cherry pickers, I know there are company favorites, etc. etc. My point is that if you, me....or anyone isn't making money doing MT and is in a constant state of agitation/unhappiness then it's time to find a better company to work for or even another line of work. Life is too short. Doesn't do any good to complain and wonder how someone else manages to make money, only "you" can control your environment. I know that I have always done more than my share of the difficult dictators and I really don't mind doing it so long as it doesn't 1) interfere with my paycheck and 2) doesn't adversely affect my life. I've only quit one company because of impossible dictators and that is the one that seems to be known to all; that after I worked for them for 7 years and suddenly all the "good" stuff (there wasn't much of that to begin with on that particular account) evaporated and I was doing nothing but the worst of the worst and I do mean WORST. I don't know "why" that was happening but I did know when I had had enough.

Thanks for the excellent advice, No Whining. Although this is my first visit to this site and I have never posted any complaints about MQ before, I am definitely one of those MQ Whiners you refer to! And this is the best advice I've heard in 5 years! Who do you suggest I apply for a job with?

i am merely trying to take a lighthearted look at other careers we could have chosen. you people suck! you are just mean to be mean. i think u are fooling yourselves that you are so secure in your jobs. i thought that too, i thought i was indispensable, but being an IC, i am disposable. i am just an accounts payable bill; they found a cheaper way to do and what do they do, they get rid the luxury item.

I just made an observation that you hadn't responded yet. And I was working myself, so I was trying to be brief. Like I told Endiqua, it's not that I, myself, don't believe you or anyone else who is earning really good $$$ at MT. I don't really care if other MTs believe you or not. That's their problem. I do believe it can be done, but I want to know how I can do it, too. Honestly, I appreciate the advice and sharing of experiences. I'm not trying to come across as snotty or trollish.
My last (? ?maybe?) question for you is how long you have been on your particular accounts, and are they low, mid or high level accounts? I worked for both MQ and S, but I left for greener pastures because they kept bouncing me from difficult ESL account to another within a week of the last one.
I made more in the past year doing MT than every other year combined since I started several years ago. I'm not working a part-time job as backup any more either. I've also tripled my expander stats in the past month. I could be satisfied with that, but I believe the potential is there to do so much more.

 So NOW what do I do??? He wants to see them (it's been two months!!) I've told him I can't AFFORD to meet him and he only offers to "give me money" (that ole dangling carrot) if I meet him  .
I truly WANT the kids to have a relationship w/their dad, but I honestly can't afford the drive (I live in OK; he lives in TX - our divorce says we meet, of course) Have been told by my atty that child support and child visitation are TWO SEPERATE ISSUES.....glad he has money to meet!!

With a MQ blog you could communicate and discuss to your hearts content, while you change nothing and your children starve. And if MQ started the hole you are in, by still being there you are handing them the shovel to make that hole deeper. Of course it is hard switching jobs and learning new accts but how does staying at MQ with NO jobs make that any easier? If you have children and bills, you darn well better be doing something other than just whining about what a bad company MQ is. You can start that process now or you can do nothing but whine and still have to start that process sometime in the future, all the while you bills are adding up and you kids are getting thinner. And another thing, why do you have to buy anything for a new program or new job? I have never had to buy anything for any company I have worked for. It is hard to have alot of sympathy for a person who is constantly with the "poor me" but who does nothing to pull themselves out of the mire. And if you think I am whining, you are reading my posts all wrong. I am not whining, I am angry that you are letting yourselves be taken advantage of. It makes all MTs look bad, like we cannot take a stand for ourselves but feel ourselves to be at the mercy of any company that wants to take advantage of a hard-working MT.

Tired of the whining and here is why.
If you check out the posts, you will see what we are talking about. MQ MTs whine about the horrible company they work for but don't leave. I am angry that the "sit back and take it" attutude they have makes all hard working MTs look bad. I for one know I am worth more than having to put up with being used like slave labor. Even if it means working two jobs, it is better than just sitting back and whining but doing nothing about your plight. And with that being said, no one is saying they should not be able to beat the dead dog amoungst themselve, they just need to take it to a blog, so we don't have to be witness to it. And btw, i DO work two MT jobs.
