What now?

I too decided that this was not a field I would be able to retire from in 20 years. I am actually in nursing school now. I have found that the immense knowledge required by us as MTs has served me well throughout school. I know so much more than the average student just starting out. Even my instructors are amazed at what we were responsible for knowing as MTs.

I chose nursing because of all the background knowledge I have, the fact that there will always be work (no off shoring here!) and there are tons of different opportunities available once you have your degree. Most people only think of floor nursing when looking at the career, but that is just the tip of the iceburg.

Good luck to you whatever you decide.

PS: I will be 48 when I graudate, and there are a lot of people my age in the program . . . so age should not be an issue here!
