oh, you SOOOOO right to be livid. I would use this opportunity, that is, being at this juncture of having renewed your vows, going into the "next phase" so to speak of your marriage, to LAY DOWN THE LAW to you MIL about her MEDDLING, her CHOICE OF FRIENDS and how it is HOSTILE to you and your marriage, and that you absolutely, in no uncertain terms, will not tolerate this kind of BACKSTABBING with her from this point forward. One thing: There can be no pussyfooting around, here. No "alluding" to how you feel, how what you found out was "hurtful" to you, because of her "meanspirited" behavior. (barf) No, no, no. Confront, get IN HER FACE about it, and let her shake in her boots about your logically presented yet forceful tirade, for a good long while. PERHAPS this will make her think twice about undermining your marriage -- and that is exactly what it is, that she is doing, and you need to let her know that. Again, no soft shoe here. I am so sorry for you to have to be dealing with this, and very best of luck to you.
