When you marry someone, you are vowing to spend a lifetime with them. It IS supposed to be forever. I didn't marry my husband with the idea that it was something to do until something better came along. I married him for better or worse until death do us part. The problem with our society is that divorce is just too darn easy. Fewer people try to work through problems and just run to the nearest divorce attorney.
That being said, I don't think people should stay in a marriage where they are being abused or cheated on. However,in the case of Brad & Jen, I think he was just a spoiled brat who wanted a family now (which Angelina could provide) and he didn't care who he had to hurt to get his way. I think Jen's better off without him and seeing how Angelina has crapped out on every other man she's been with, I hope she does it to Brad, too!
And I used to be one of his biggest fans!
