Bread around 2.00...
per loaf, milk was $2.90 last night (gallon). Our home cost $171,000, we paid $1450.00 per month for mtg payment. Not totally clear on the taxes and other things. My son goes to a private school, but have heard wonderful things about the public schools in the area.
Hope I helped you out!
Homemade is just better!
There sure aren't many of us around Nature Girl!! I'm 41 and most of the people my age have no idea how to can or freeze things. I brought in salsa once to work and there had been this article about botulism in the newspaper and a couple of people were very hesitant about trying my salsa. I asked them if they thought that I would put my 4-year-old at risk and yes I do pressure cook at the correct temp for the correct time!! Hear that POP. I haven't been able to do as much as I'd like with my daughter being young, and working 2 part-time jobs, but always have to do a large variety of jellies and jams for Christmas gifts - the relatives pout if I don't because store bought definitely is not the same!! Will be drying apple chips this weekend and making applesauce and applebutter. The husband and his brothers own a 5,000 acre farm so I am spoiled with the veggies and I have a large garden. My dream someday is to put in a small orchard. In all my free time....
Homemade sav???
He is treating his wound with a homemade sav. I cannot find "sav" anywhere. It sav, sauve??? I know its like a lotion but I'm not sure how to spell it. Thanks!
homemade stromboli..
he has already requested that for tonight.. he even went and bought the groceries for it! So, I guess that's it for me!
I don't do homemade anymore
Being single, its just easier nowadays to buy chili, the fritos and cheese. One thing I NEVER EVER EVER EVER buy (or made) chili with beans .... el yucko!!!!
homemade soup
I keep the best leftovers in the deep freeze to make soup. Tonight's soup has veggies, including lima beans, a wonderful chicken stock, and some diced up london broil and potatoes cut very fine to thicken the soup. All these leftovers in the soup bring back memories of meals gone by! I just throw it all in the crockpot and let it do its thing.
we're doing homemade BBQ...sm
chips, slaw, potato salad, and drinks. Ice cream for dessert and fruit. Easy and delicious...
Homemade Chex party mix!
Made with real butter, lots of peanuts, Cheese-its or Goldfish. Rice and/or corn chex or Crispix; none of those nasty wheat chex. Used to mix up a batch and sit and type and and eat and then graze on it throughout the day
All you need is a nice salad and bread. :)

Good for you for homemade gifts
I at least try to make my cards each year. It's nice to put a little homemade into the holidays. By the way, I'm done.
Put your bread in a food processor and
tip for banana bread lovers. sm
I just disovered (thru a friend) that very ripe bananas can be frozen (in their skin) no freezer bag required to make banana bread on a future date. I tried this, and it does work! It is great!. I love making banana bread for my family, but find that many times, the bananas are ripening too quick for my busy schedule.

Homemade stilts. We had a ball with these. sm
The ice cream truck used to make multiple trips around the block just to watch us.
Aside from the old favorite zucchini bread, sm
I love zucchini sliced and sauteed with onions, Rotel tomatoes, and crumbled cooked bacon (saute the zucchini in some of the bacon drippings if you can afford the fat/calories).
greet him with a homemade welcome home
And if he has anything that he is craving that you bake have it ready in the car! I'm sure he's probably missing some kinda food from home after being gone so long.
That is so exciting... and after a year, wow! I am happy for you. Have an awesome reunion!!!
Been there - could not even afford a loaf of bread once sm
I mean really had not a penny for 2 weeks. We just emptied the cabinets and whatever was in there, we made do. Personally, I know what a terrible feeling that is, downright awful! Remember there is always light at the end of the tunnel. If you have anyone close to you who can help you out - that is one thing, but if not - you will have to make do with what you have.
Try the really cheap stores - the ones where usually you wouldn't even look at before. They have great deals, like Aldi, or the dollar stores, the outlet stores like Wonder, Hostess, etc.
I have to say that experience has humbled me and my family significantly.
Good luck - things will work out. Sometimes, we get wake up calls, and this might be yours. I think I have had quite a few already.
Some jar sauce is as good as homemade...
I make my own sauce usually, but when I'm not in the mood there are some that surprisingly are just as good as homemade. They are the more expensive ones, Rao's, Victoria, Patsy's, Vincent's. Jar sauce has come a long way! But the less expensive like Prego, Ragu, and even Classico etc., I find are just too sweet. Easy recipe..A couple of jars of Victoria or other better-brand Fra Diavolo sauce. Cook on stove in medium pot on medium heat until hot but not boiling. Throw in a bunch of medium or large size RAW peeled shrimp with tails removed! (I often use the raw frozen in the bag - thawed) and continue cooking/stirring until shrimp turns orange and appears done. Spoon over pasta and top with S&P if you like and lots of grated romano/parmesan cheese. Squisito!
20 garlic chicken. sm
At the risk of sounding dumb - are you supposed to use two whole actual things of garlic. Garlic has always confused me. The recipe sounds wonderful but two whole garlic or two segments of one garlic thingy?
I only used 2 segments of one garlic.

Garlic Chicken
Thanks for posting this. This smells so wonderful.
I had gone to a Garlic Festival and they made this with pieces of chicken and added rice. Wrapped it in a tortilla. Walaaaa wonderful!!! You could smell it everywhere! Which is how i found this food booth.
Okay, what is Jerk BBQ and the bread? sounds good!
you are lucky...they were my bread-and-butter at my past job...
very difficult at first, and I did NOT want to do them; then found out they were pretty much 'standardized' once you got used to the dictators, they say the same thing. Make templates, normals, whatever.
They are interesting, and I could make tons of lines in no time.
Then, I must have gotten 'bumped' when new managers came in and brought in other MTs, because they took them away from me. Never saw them again after that.
Ended up leaving that sorry job, anyway. Very bad experience...
BUT, those ERs paid my bills for 1 full year until then...
Best of luck.
Homemade chicken noodle soup
with huge homemade noodles and tons of chicken and veggies. Sides of fresh baked hoagies or chicken wings, basted in "Quaker Steak and Lube" hot and BBQ sauce. Family very very happy and it is cold here.
Hot dogs and homemade french fries.

I'm having a homemade roast beef sub and chips for lunch.
DH can probably BBQ hot dogs and burgers for dinner because I don't feel like cooking.
Homemade meatball subs (quick and easy).
Now that I can use the oven again without heating up the house. I had a sweater on until noon today. And socks! Nice relief from 90's and sticky humidity.
I love doing meatball subs, because everyone just helps themselves. Sometimes required when you're behind deadline. :) I just buy ready made meatballs, dump them in a baking pan, pour 2 jars of pizza sauce on top and bake at 350 for about an hour. When the buzzer goes off hubby and kids grab a sub roll, put the stuff in and top it with shredded mozarella.
I get my work done and everyone is happy. (I hate meatball subs).
Hot French bread with real butter, rasberries
with real cream, Belgian sweet dark chocolate and Fritos. It would have to be my last supper, because it would probably kill me! Yummmmmmm.
homemade potato soup, cornbread, and just finished
Homemade cookies? A nice potted plant?
What do they like? Do they have a hobby, or collect anything?
Love the serrated bread knife! Cuts everything!! nm

Homemade super nachos with a huge garden salad.
Ugh, I just spent hours in the hot sun picking peas, lettuce, beans, onions, and zucchini. Now we have to eat it all.
I found that oatmeal works better than bread crumbs - moister
Happy cooking.
My favorite gifts over the years were the homemade ones - congrats for having the energy
