I get irate when people ask why we complain!

Plainly and simply because we love the field we're in and hate what's happened to it!

You describe, beautifully I may add, why so many of us stay in the field! Not because of laziness, not because we can't do something else, but because we love the field even if we don't love how it has changed. And, yes, I am contemplating going back to school to work in the medical field in a different capacity. That doesn't mean that I have no right to complain that we (the transcriptionists) are being taken advantage of and that the lowest paid workers are the most desperately needed! Something is wrong here, no?
