OMgosh!! it is soooo good, and much quicker and easier to make than cooked jam. It's prettier, tastes fresher -- like right out of the garden -- and you can be enjoying your strawberries all year round. Its more like preserves than jam -- can put it not only on toast, but on ice cream, cake, in milk shakes, etc. Receipe in the box of pectin you buy.

What about all the people who come on here saying their hands are cold, I don't think they sit in the freezer either. Good point about fire though, surely there is a safety gauge with it.
How about a wet washcloth and put it in the freezer - sm
to get cold(er) and let him chew on that. Other than that lots of oragel. I still have tons of it here because mine handled teething quite well which surprised me quite a bit, using a little now for 6-y/o molars coming in. Motrin might work better for the pain too. Good luck, at least it shouldn't last too long.

No, my turkey is still in my freezer. I refused to cook this year.
I'm either going to cook it at Christmastime or slap some Cajun sauce on it and BBQ when the 18" of snow melts.

vegetarian idea
If you use eggs, a wonderful egg foo yung can be made with all that zucchini in your garden. Just shred, drain, toss in a little cornstarch and soy sauce = add some beaten eggs and fry in patties. Make a quick gravy using chicken base, water and soy sauce thickened with a little cornstarch. Serve patties over rice with a little gravy. My family loves this and we are not even vegetarians!

first was no meat, then vegetarian, now trying vegan...
although, I am not obsessive about it all...
no animal has to suffer for me.
I do have to cook meat for my boyfriend, but as I said I am not a fanatic. I try to buy local meat and use chickens (and eggs) that are not from electric cages, or that have not been fed steroids, antibiotics, etc.
Vegan versus vegetarian
Someone told me that vegans do not eat any animal products including eggs or dairy but that vegetarians will. Who knows.
Ideas for vegetarian snacks
Bean dips. Paul Newman has them in jars, usually in the salsa section. Also, guacamole, and have nuts available. Cheeses, of course, if they eat dairy.
Bruschetta, one variation of which is thinly sliced tomato on slice of garlic bread, topped with sprinkle of basil and thin mozzarella. Broil til cheese melts and heated through..
Hummus, a garbanzo bean spread, you can usually buy at the deli counter. With crackers or small slices of bread.

I'm a vegetarian so not buying meat saves,
but also, the more *fixed* food is, the more expensive it is - for example, if I want soup, I buy the ingredients and make it myself, plus it tastes better and isn't loaded with garbage I don't need like salt and fat.
I don't buy extras - candles have been out for a long time - I have a few in case of power failure, but nothing fancy. I don't have a cell phone, or anything other than basic TV. I buy clothes at thrift stores (which is actually a lot of fun), and I never hang out at malls - impulse buying is out.
Get an extra plastic bottle and pour half your shampoo into it, then fill with water. Most people use way too much shampoo, conditioner, etc - dilute w/water - does the same job and lasts way longer.
If you will search around the web with Google, you can come up with hundreds of ways to save money - most of us buy stuff we don't need simply because we are lazy or we think our every desire needs to be gratified.
It's mostly just excess baggage; it is amazing how good it feels to not need *stuff* to feel good.
the potpourri idea is fabulous!!, plus don't forget the wonderful scent of herbs you can grow yourself to mix with the cinnamon, etc.

The thought of eating meat is awful, but it's the only thing I like so I have to unless I want to live on Cheerios and ice cream sandwiches.

Go to the grocery store
Buy a can of Wolf Brand chili
Go home, open the can
Put contents in a pan
Warm it on the stove
put warmed chili in bowl and gobble away LOL
I use the chili seasoning packets.
Brown some ground beef. Add any veggies you want like hot or green peppers, garlic or onions. Add a can of kidney beans, a can of tomato sauce (or stewed tomatoes), and the seasoning packet.
And I want the white chili recipe!
White Chili Recipe
Here ya go. It's SO easy. Enjoy
WHITE CHILI
1 48-oz jar of Randall Beans, drained
1 16-oz jar of Salsa
1 14-oz can of chicken broth
2C. cooked chicken, shredded
1 Onion
1-1/2 tsp. garlic
1 T. cumin
1 block of pepper-jack cheese.
Cook in crockpot for 4+ hours.
Top with shredded cheese, sour cream, and tortilla chips.
Leftover chili, mango soda and coffe.

Daughter is vegetarian. I cook a turkey and she hits the side dishes. (sm)
We do pretty well with this. I just make sure I have some of her favorites so she still feels like she is having a feast.
I saw a picture someone made of a "turkey" they had formed out of raw veggies. I think the basic form was one of those rounded shaped loaves of bread and the veggies were on toothpicks. the head and some tail feathers were made from construction paper. It seemed like an entertaining idea especially if you had small children around.

I do have kids. They can have pop and chips, but I try to avoid it.
And Iecture them on the value of healthy food. LOL My diet used to be horrible until it caught up with me with my last pregnancy. I was frequently hypoglycemic and had high blood sugar. Then I had two irregular EKGs before a surgery. I've basically been scared into becoming healthier.

and also can cause Reye's syndrome in children. I agree with the spirite and crackers although it's best to not have bubbles...so open the drink and pour some over an ice cube and let it sit for a while. The stomach needs to settle down on its own, and if it doesn't, you need to call the doc and ask for suppositories so he won't get dehydrated.
After the stomach settles down, you can try the brat diet. Bananas, rice, applesauce and toast.

At the risk of sounding dumb - are you supposed to use two whole actual things of garlic. Garlic has always confused me. The recipe sounds wonderful but two whole garlic or two segments of one garlic thingy?

I had gone to a Garlic Festival and they made this with pieces of chicken and added rice. Wrapped it in a tortilla. Walaaaa wonderful!!! You could smell it everywhere! Which is how i found this food booth.
