Just a reminder, the method of line-counting using visible black characters results in a pay difference of about minus-30%.  So if you're making 9 cpl on a "standard" 65-character line with spaces, you would need to make at least 12 cpl per VBC line to get the same pay.  With the VA now apparently paying by VBC, and contractors advertising on MTJobs that are offering MTs 9 cents per VBC line, all of us should keep in mind that that VBC 9 cpl equals about 6 cpl in "standard" lines.  I would hope that no one with more than a year's MT experience would accept such a low rate.  A VBC 9 cpl is maybe OK as an apprentice-level rate, but otherwise represents yet another big pay cut for MTs.
