Used to be an MT

I sooo know what you mean. I have been out of MT for a little over two years now, after 27 years of good and bad jobs. I found that over time all of them were turning to the dark side, even the locals. I just come back to this board every year or so and see that nothing has improved and generally has worsened. I was very fortunate to get into an oil and gas related job, and when this cycle goes from boom to bust (as oil and gas always does), I will just get a burger flipping position somewhere, maybe something at Wally World. All my experience and knowledge in MT will just hang on the wall with my CMT certificate, never to be used again. I regret that I got out only after I was used up, burned out, and emotionally and physically wrecked, and can't give the amount of energy to my new career that I did to MT, 'cause it just ain't there to give. The only area where my "past life" still is really valuable is that I can freak my doctors out by using bigger words than they do when discussing my health issues!
