Update on Tom kitty - we brought him home Saturday and he is back to his playful self today. SM

I brought him home from the vet on Saturday. He was still running a temperature, but it was much lower - 103. It had been 106 when we took him to the vet. He was still lethargic, but had started to groom himself. I have antibiotics I have to give him twice a day, by Sunday afternoon he was becoming playful again and was drinking a lot more and started to eat more. Today, he is back to his old self. Attacking my PC wires and walking on my keyboard, trying to get my fingers when I type.
I am so relieved!

MissouriMT - could we have a kitty update?
I posted below, not sure if you saw it though.
My son is also ADHD, but we brought him home
in third grade and he is now in 10th. He is no longer medicated. He was in therapy for 2 years because he was bullied, had horrendous teachers, and had low self-esteem because of various school issues. He came home 3 days after starting K saying his teacher yelled at the kids. I should have taken him out then, but didn't think I could do it. I fought the system for so long and continue to fight it today as I help other parents advocate for their children, but at least now my son isn't caught in the middle.
Lots of parents bring their kids home for the high school years, at least for a year. There is no law that says they can't go back for whatever reasons. I know lots of parents who have homeschooled K-11th grade and then their kids want to go to high school for their senior year. If your son is failing and miserable why send him to school.
This brought back some memories...
I was once approached in a Barnes & Noble AND a laudromat! LOL
help! the link only brought me to the home page
where do i find the article??
My kids brought lice home from day camp....sm
or brought it to day camp. One way or the other, this stinks.
Other than the usual shampoo; comb with a good metal nit comb; clean, spray, bug, and/or bag everything in the house, any other suggestions? I even bought a steam cleaner for the furniture and rugs.
I'm getting dirty looks at work. The kids want to go back to camp, but I'm worried about what the other kids are going to do/say. I'm keeping them home until next week. Need advice reassurance from mom who have been here.
Boy, you brought back memories. I remember crying too and thinking I'd never get it that first y

I was just coming back to update...
I did not find one, however, my wonderful father-in-law who used to design computer components 20 years ago opened up the broken one and fixed it for me. It's still fragile, there's a broken screw housing thing that was somehow preventing the pedal from contacting the switch sufficiently, but if I treat it gingerly, it'll get me through until my employer sends me a new one. Whew!
Update on blending dogs into our home...
A few weeks ago I wrote about my dog not getting along with my husband's dogs a few weeks after we were married. We finally hired a trainer from BarkBusters to come out and since then she has been a completely different dog with her behavior. She's still learning that we adults are the pack leaders but the techniques we were taught have worked wonders with her.
Update..bought computer today and Dell and found out it couldnt get here as fast as I needed it so I
Got the same computer for like $400 less and they'll ship it out tomorrow. Should be here in 4 days..Same everything including warranty. Try Ebay.!!!
To Patti - got back from the CPA today...sm
NONE of the home improvements was deductible nor the office due to the fact the size of the room in comparison to the rest of the place was considered small. Oh well, it's a regular sized bedroom/guestroom/office....not small at all in my mind, think it's 15' x 18'.
Oh well, ya win some, ya lose some, and some get rained out
My back is killing me today. What do
you do for back pains? Any suggestions....
I will check my chair when I get home today...
Anyone doing home chores today instead of working? sm
So far we've put out 40 bags of mulch around the flower garden area as it was time to refresh it, and then I've put in a fence in the back yard for the dog (deal alert - if you have a small dog that won't jump over a fence, you can get 150 feet of kennel fencing that is 3 feet high at Lowe's with the stakes for just under $100, and it took me less than an hour to figure out how I wanted it to look and install it... and I'm not a home improvement queen!).
The dog feels like she's in doggie heaven running around without having to have her tie-up ropes and my neighbors across the road should be happy that I've spruced up the flower garden area - especially since they just put their house on the market.
Now I'm ready for a nice long Calgon soak!!!
My home page says it is Wednesday, not today - sm
they say they will have a memorial service at the zoo at the stadium there with 5000 in attendance and have big screens showing it in the zoo and in Queensland, Australia. They are to be televising the service then. So someone is wrong, either Animal Planet or my web site, but I will check it out just in case. Thanks.
I heard back from my senator today about outsourcing bill sm
He thanked me for my letter, said that as he understood it, this bill didn't cover anything of what I had mentioned. However, he said he would be paying more attention to this bill when it comes before the full senate for a vote. He said he was against outsourcing. Below is my letter to him:
Dear Senator Barrasso: I am writing to request that you support the above bill. I am a medical Transcriptionist in Wyoming. I moved here 2 years ago from Colorado, bringing my job and income with me. I make an above-average income, which I spend in my community, but my job is at risk because so much of this work is being outsourced, particularly to India. More importantly, the health and privacy of the American public is being put at risk by this practice. First, Indian transcriptionists do their job poorly and inefficiently. The gross errors jeopardize health care. Every error has the potential to injure or poison an American citizen, including many young children for whom accurate diagnoses and medication administration can be a life and death issue. To add insult to injury, Indian transcriptionists are NOT required to honor HIPAA. Once a physician's dictation leaves this country, it is no longer private. I am a very hard working medical transcriptionist and I am still able to earn a decent living in this industry, but it is certainly not what it used to be. I am paid 9 cents for every 65 Keystrokes I type, whereas an Indian is paid 2 to 3 cents for the same work. This undercutting has hurt this industry and every woman (95% of us are female), many of whom are trying to support families on their own, has been dragged to the poverty line because our wages have not grown with the cost of living. I make 9 cents today and I made 9 cents in 1996, the year my career began. Please protect the healthcare and privacy of Americans, and help to protect yet another industry from moving to overseas. Support and sign S.810/H.R. 1653.
Did a whole 388 today....this is why I try not to work when the kids are home/awake - basically impo

Going back home
It was awesome to see them visit back home and all the support they have there. Elliott's mom just makes me cry. Did you see when they were riding in the parade and his mom just hung her head and seemed so overwhelmed. She is so proud of her son. They are always showing their family/friends in the audience. I've been wondering about something though. Where are Katherine's friends? They show her parents all the time, but I don't recall seeing any of her close friends. Seems like she would have a ton there since she lives so close by.
Right-on.... if I went back it'd only be as an at-home
'in-house' person. I have no use for all the petty office rules, peering over shoulders, dress codes, politics, power-plays, etc. I'd rather have my cats as co-workers.
Love being back home...
but frustrating at times. Seems everyone wants my job. It's soooo easy they say. Now I'm not an expert by all means and I continue to learn as I go. Discipline is one of the keys...my poor house doesn't get cleaned anymore (I wonder when someone will notice).
And those moms who think I work at home and call on you to pick up their kids because their "working". That's my boiling point.javascript:editor_insertHTML('text','');

Sure! As soon as I'm back from my summer home in the Hamptons!
Can you cut your hours back at your current job and do MT at home PT? (sm)
This would be a way to break away some for your FT without actually giving it up and at the same time staying current in the outside world. Then if you had a PT or p.r.n. MT job at home, you could get a feel for how it would be.
Fine. Be sure to post back here in a year and tell me about her at-home job. nm

I worked at Home Depot awhile back
for 3 years in the paint department. I have done them all and also taught the classes on Sundays. You might want to call your local Home Depot and ask when they have their paint classes. Lots of information, and they should let you try out the techniques as well.
I have never had links on the left side. I have always had to go back to the home page to get them.
.
You're so right - I gave my notice - 5 more days & Im back home!!
I worked at home 9 years - back in an office for a year -cannot WAIT to be back home again. Office politics and BS, silly little rules that make no sense, traffic, hours less in each day because you spend that time commuting, people who care if you have a $200 purse or not...when you work at home you can still have friends, but you get to choose who you spend your time with!
My 8-year-old threw up on the way home from family celebration Christmas Eve, all over the back seat
Then threw up approximately every hour from 10:00 p.m. until 8:00 a.m. Christmas morning. Not the Christmas I had planned, up cleaning bodily fluids all night. Somehow Santa managed to come overnight, too. My husband, me and the 2-year-old didn't get the bug until last night, it's vicious! Hopefully that's all over now and we can enjoy the rest of our vacation!
Got it on Saturday
Started first with diarrhea at 11:30, then nausea and by 5:30 couldn't take anything p.o. By 9:30 there was no GU production anymore and by 11:30 I went to the hospital. I got 500 of normal saline, 8 mg of Zofran and I asked the doc for a GI cocktail (he did a double take...apparently not eveyone knows about it). Sent me home in 3 hours with Phenergan to take at home. I just started feeling back to normal on Tuesday but was still about to work Mon and Tues.
I feel your pain.

This has been on here since Saturday

kitty
So glad he is okay. Had a similar episode with Stuart a kitty we adopted in July. He had cold-like symptoms and weighed less than 1 pound. Took atbc, Lysine and eye drops and is now fine. Hope you have the same results.
kitty
not sure what heppened - validated email and my post did not appear - anyway - kittens and cats are susceptable to blood disorders, tragic but true - I am an avid cat lover, kitty blood from my grams in me - keep us posted - OK?
Meet me here Saturday night.
I would love to chat. I'll be working Saturday evening if you want to check back then.
Saturday night chat. SM
After all my efforts to get some use out of the chat rooms, I have to tell you that I will be unavailable Saturday night. Hopefully, others who are aware of the potential for someone to be in there will take advantage and join in.
Anyway, thanks for the effort scc. Hope we can hook up another time.
Leaving this Saturday for a week...
in Bethany Beach, DE. My parents rent the house and my family of 5 and my sister's family of 4 plus Mom and Dad all go together. The beach is almost in our back yard and there is outlet shopping paradise in Rehobeth, not to mention seafood, seafood, seafood! Can't wait!
Your kitty is beautiful!!! (nm)

Possible Solution For Kitty
I have a female cat who does the same thing. She tries to use her box and never attempts to do her business anywhere else in the house. She just has a little problem determining her positioning in the box. I have a big roll of 33-gallon plastic garbage bags and use these under the box. If Miss Kitty misses and pees over the edge, I just remove the plastic garbage bag and dispose of it and put a new one down. These cats are trying to do the right thing, but they just have a little trouble...LOL. Also, I agree that a bigger, uncovered box might be a good idea for your big boy. Good luck!
Big kitty troubles...
I also have a big kitty though not quite as big as yours. He does not quite seem to get his rear in to do his number two business either and it always ends up on the floor in front of the box. I have a regular size litter box and my mother has said they come in larger sizes and has suggested trying this. I plan to purchase one ASAP! He never goes on the floor and is very clean otherwise.
To the other poster who suggested just throw him outside, to some that would be like throwing a family member out of the house; I could never even consider that. There are other options and I know my kitty does not do this on purpose, he just needs an adjustment made to meet his particular needs. Good luck in finding what works for you and your big furry friend!
Sorry about your kitty, glad he's better. (SM)
I have 2 cats. When they were kittens they sat in my lap together, then they switched to the monitor. One of them still dominates the monitor and is hovering like Snoopy in Vulture Mode right now! I could not venture a guess how much cat hair must be in there! Anyway, it is one of the reasons I will try to stay working at home - KITTIES!
I'm bored and dateless on a Saturday night...
Is it my basic personality?
Only "bath night" in our house was Saturday
You're like school on a Saturday, "Babe"...
No class.
