In Reply to: Question about night sweats... - sbMT
If he's always been a sweaty guy, then he just might have hyperhidrosis. Or, if thie sweating is new, then he needs to get a physical examination. New instances of sweating at night could be caused by an infection, some cancers, new medications like niacin or antidepressants, male hormonal disorders, even hypoglycemia. But most of those things have other associated problems - like severe fatigue, for example.
Or stress, like someone else said.
That being said, since he says he feels healthy and thinks he has good energy with no fatigue and otherwise sleeps just fine, he just may be too hot, plain and simple. Men often seem to generate heat like a furnace, (which is wonderful for us girls who freeze to death on cold winter nights), especially if they have a lot of body hair. Lowering the air conditioner to 70 might be cool for the average person, but not cool enough for him - 100% plain cotton sheets and no comforter on his side of the bed.
Really, he needs to make note of just how much water he is drinking, whether he is losing weight or having trouble maintaining it, and whether he is having to run to the bathroom a lot. I mean, it's good to be drinking lots of fluids and one's urine should be the palest of yellows, but if he's having to go twice every hour then something's wrong. If he's finding he needs to drink so much that he doesn't have enough room in his stomach to eat, then again, something is wrong.
He could try eliminating caffeine, alcohol and sugar drinks and see if that helps. If he's taking a multivitamin, check to see if there is niacin in it. It is possible a slow-release multivitamin is releasing niacin in the middle of the night. Niacin creates a significant hot flush and it will make you sweat - prolifically, until the body assimilates it. Try a multivitamin without niacin.
But besides all of that, a physical check up is always the best way to put one's mind at ease. Is there any way he can get that done where it won't impact your insurance app/approval?

dictating from the noisiest place in the hospital - lots of beeping equipment and people laughing and talking in the background.
doctors who dictate while their kids are making noise in the background and they have to keeping stopping to tell them to be quiet.
slurred speech and doctors who sound like they are falling asleep and make me want to go to sleep too.
too much spelling.... once in a while it helps - but sometimes you wonder what word they are saying and then you figure out it's spelling.
I assume you are assigned number much like a license number that can be verified through the AAMT.
Beyond that, I have no idea.
Can you use a plus sign for hyper and minus sign for hypo?

Looking for MQ number...sm
I went through training and am supposed to start soon. I got a phone call from someone named Elaine who said something about the CHW Mercy/Memorial account and gave me a 3658 extension. I called the MQ number I have and they said there is no one there by that name or extension.
Does anyone have a phone number for this person or know how I can reach her?
Thanks!
100 number
If you choose to block your call by either *67 or *69 (forget which one it is) and the nunmber your dialing does not accept blocked numbers and asks you to put your number in, you can put ANY number you choose in and the call will go through.
Did'nt know that one until one of my kids (figures) told me about it. So it could be the new wave tool of solicitors/bill collectors or just other teens pulling pranks.
Number 1 through 9
I was always told to spell out anything below 10 (even at Medquist). Prior to taking my second test, a recruiter actually told me that this is a recent change and to make sure to take note of it during the test??? It is so hard to keep things straight sometimes with all the changes and conflicts. Aiyeee!!!
They want your ss number
in case you decide to skip on your bill; then they can send you to a collection agency. Are they just supposed to believe because you appear with a medical card that you are covered? NOT!
age is only a number
I am 43 and am trying to get into a CNA program through a local nursing home. I took care of my mother-in-law for 8 years before passing away in Januarey of this year. After doing this I have realized that I want to this instead of typing the reports. Go for it. I am. Good luck!!!
With a $ sign, yes it is...without, it...
is only 7-1/4 100ths. Decimals. Get it????? The whole number without the decimal isn't dollars and cents. It's just a number.
She has no sign that says that but obviously you do.
She has worked in nothing but the best behavior. She kept her chin up and kept morale up while she was working way too many hours with way too little time off.
I dont know where you come off saying that other than thinking that you must have that sign on YOUR back. Don't transfer your stuff to someone else. Have a nice night.
Well it's just the way I am. I sign my name to almost SM
everything I post. I'll admit I've gone anonymous a few times, but it is rare. I'm just not going to do it. I stand behind anything I say - if it's wrong, then I made a mistake, I wasn't trying to hornswoggle anybody.
It is easy to see the culprit behind these MTs who can't make any money. You hear people talking about "platforms" and searching for demographics, etc. That's the problem.
I work for somebody for whom I am a source of income, not a cost center. The faster I am, the more we both make.
I do use my Expanders - a lot - and I've used the same shortcuts for years. But the main thing is that I work in Word without worrying about how some unit secretary is going to pull up the report I just typed. The company I work for isn't there to make sure the consultant on 4E can see the work quickly without shuffling papers. They're there to produce a fast and accurate medical record - period.
That other stuff is for the hospital to worry with, and the hospital I work for has some kind of system where my Word documents go in their system in batches. I wouldn't pretend to know what that is, LOL, but I'm not crippling along on a program that was designed for everybody but ME, and that's what happens at these big companies. They have to have a selling point, and that seems to be it.
"Here, let us do your transcription. Here's how it works. The MT types your report, it goes into the chart electronically. And the stuff is all there for the data miners, too, so everybody can like us!" This was true for Dictaphone, Lanier, everybody. They all had to have an angle for everybody in the hospital and the MT was left sucking hind teat, as we say out in the country.
Been there and done that and would only go back if I had absolutely no other choice. As much as I love this profession, I couldn't figure out why people gripe about not making money so much - and then I went to work for a national and found out real quick.
My sign is Leo...nm
Before you sign
I don't know what they are charging you but I talked to several before I went with Trinity Debt Management whose name was given to me by my church and they were the cheapest. But I still ended up filing a Chapter 13 because of a divorce that cost me so much I could not pay the bills. But I did start with them and they were very nice. It cost $50 to start the program but their monthly maintenace fees were way cheaper than the other major ones I talked with. Some wanted as much as $100 to $150 per month to manage my account that was a payment to a bill. But I chose the Chapter 13 repayment program and pay $300 a month for three years to the courts and they pay it out and the balances are then wiped clear. I only had to pay partial attorney fees, mainly filing fees, the rest was put into the monthly fee. I still feel bad but at least am paying something. But there is nothing you can do when you go from two paychecks to one and doesn't feel the bills are his responsibility. Good luck. Just thought I would mention them.

she did sign for 3 yrs but if we all....nm
No, and don't ever sign...
Any type of contract or agreement that has that clause in it! Be aware!
They probably won't sign
They will probably hee and haw and not sign a contract or they put in whereas for "cause they can terminate the service immediately" or with 15 to 30 days notice they can terminate the service without cause. So with or without a contract they will terminate her services when they find someone else if that is what they are doing. Who knows I could be wrong and will probably get my goose cooked for working now for 15 years without contracts and have to eat my words. Time will tell.
I would sign....but
I won't spend $2 to do it!! Rip....
Where do I sign up?
I would sure like to meet you in person...I've been an MT for 42 years (started at age 17 when transcription was still lumped in under "Medical Secretary." I have worked in all venues of transcription...clinic, MTSO and legal...but never found the time to actually get all the credentialing an MT needs in the current environment. After "proving" myself, I was promoted to supervisory level and my greatest pleasure was "helping" other MTs as I had been helped in my early years. If you ever implement your "program", let me know because I'll sign up anytime/anywhere!!
You don't want to sign it off any other way or ...
...you will not get credit for your lines. Use the unknown patient MRN, type it and sign if off. Follow your company/client's specifications on how to accomplish that.
I do want to sign it off
because it is a personal letter and he does not want it on the hospital system. I would be typing it in Word and be paid separately. He has quite a few of these he wants done. The point is he doesn't want the lines in the system. Thank you.
Then don't sign it
Don't agree to it and don't sign it and if you do, then don't whine about it.
That would be the first sign of
epicondylitis (better known as tennis elbow). This is
very common in repetitive movement in the hand/wrist, which of course all MT's apply themselves to day after day. I experienced that for the first time in my MT life 1-1/2 years ago, very painful. After viewing articles via Internet, this totally alleviated the problem as follows. One hour before starting work, take 600 mg ibuprofen, buy a tennis elbow brace or 2, I just had it in the left hand, you wear it approximately 1/2 inch "below" the epicondyle everyday constantly that you work...within at least 4 weeks, you will find that you no longer have the pain, thus can now stop the ibuprofen, but continually wear the tennis elbow brace while working to avoid recurrence of the problem.

Sleep Number Bed
We've had the Select Comfort Sleep Number Bed for several years now and it definitely is the most comfortable bed. We had a water bed for years and years and love it too. The one down side to the Sleep Number bed after having a water bed is that when you crawl into it on a cold nite it is COLD. We don't have an electric blanket. The water bed was always like climbing into a nest! But I would HIGHLY recommend a Select Comfort bed. Paul Harvey and Rush Limbash both advertise them on their shows. After having the bed for a couple years our house took a lightning strike and it blew out the air pump. We called them and they send another pump at no charge. That was very nice.
What on earth is the 100 number
an no one ever answers?
Number vun, eet ees . . . peerrriod sm
Oh, gawd, I really hate the ones who barely speak English. All I can do is type the words and then go back and try to figure out what they're trying to say. Verbatim my #%@!
Number one producer
I have just put in 19,000 lines for 8.5 days on top of being team leader for two accounts. I am number one.
Her background? I cannot name the number of
Master-degreed nurses I have worked with and done transcription for who are not able to annunciate or spell terminology and medications, etc. When I would ask them about their dictation, they wouldn't even know what they were reading off on simple radiology and lab reports, etc. It was shocking.
Her "background" does not necessarily give her what she needs. Whether she needs to make haste on an MT school/course depends truly on how competent of a student she was in her nursing studies.
so please take a number...*lolol*...nm

I looked into it and our number is still
registered as do not call, has been since 2003, but (and I did not know this part) it expires in 2010. I am glad I saw that. Thanks again!!
luv my sleep number bed!!!
we have a king size, plenty of room and comfort for me, hubby, and our zoo of animals!
Does anyone own a sleep number bed and if so, do you like it? Thx

If you have a contact number, and you really
want the job, you may want to try that avenue. You can try to come off on the phone like you were just following up and being quite honest about it state that you intent is to be of bother, but you would love to join their team and help with the "new" account. Sometimes I think the companies looking get so involved with recruiting that they can get lost in that for a time. If it is clinic work, I have noticed that pretty much weekends do not really count, so I would try to stick to Monday-Friday as far as communications with them. Acute care accounts are a little different, I think, in that regard, as they are more apt to communicate on weekends since they usually require staffing as such. I hope this makes sense. Good luck in your endeavors.
Do you have a product number on this? Some way to
p
There could be any of a number of reasons.
Some physicians have a God complex and freak at the slightest mistake. I have seen that happen many times even if it was something the MT could not control. You should have been given better instructions regarding format, but the powers that be may not have realized you were not. If the physician freaked, the office staff was not going to admit that they did not do their part.
For me, its in infinite number..as many as I can get.
I have pressed every number on the key pad
and no luck.
I would if you have contact number.
Number of characters used
Wondering how many accounts are charged/or pay a per line rate based on a character count and if 65 is always the # of characters per line used or can that vary?
Thank you.
I used to listen to one do number 2
I did work for one doctor who made a habit of dictating while on the toilet. It was many years ago, I worked in a hospital and finally started taking the tapes to the hospital administrator, who agreed that it was beyond my duty to have to listen to the physician grunt, fart, plop and flush. Of course, those were back in the days when MTs were regarded as real people. He told the doctor to stop it or the hospital would no longer require the MTs to do his work and told me to destroy any future recordings done on the toilet so they could be redictated. It stopped.
Number one, No, I did not know it would blow up
As I said, I had never encountered this situation before. How could I know what would happen when I posted this?
Number two, you don't see me posting the patient's name, do you, or even my own name so that this post could in any conceivable way be connected to the patient.
My only concern was the patient's privacy. I have worked in-house and I know how many people see x-ray reports, people that you hope are reliable and honest and follow HIPAA rules but I know for a fact not all of them do.
This is exactly why I would not go to the police or for medical help if I were raped unless I were practically dying.
Number of lines
I have no idea, since we got paid per report. Before our production increase, 96 radiology reports was equal to eight hours of work, and with DNS I could usually do this in six hours or less, depending on who the radiologist was, since some obviously go into much more detail than others. I do know that DNS types much faster than most humans could ever type. I loved doing radiology until we upgraded our computers and my older version of DNS would not work with XP. It was so old that it was not upgradable and I never got around to shelling out another $1000.00 for the full version. I would think that the newer versions are even more accurate and learn your voice a lot quicker than the version I was using.
After a certain number of views
It will flame. I am not real sure how many hits a particular post has to get before turning to a flame, but I do believe this is why. As for sm, I really don't know. Maybe see message?
I called their 800 number
After talking to the rep on the phone, he basically admitted that there was virtually no difference between the medical version and the $99 version. For what it's worth....
Maybe call the 800 number? I would do that right away as....sm
this might indicate there is something wrong with the keyboard itself in which case you might need to return for store for exchange.
