Um, OK. You can think I'm "crazy" if you want

but if I hire someone to work for an 8-hour shift it's because there is work that needs to be accomplished during those 8 hours. If that employee bails after 6 hours for whatever reason, he or she is no longer an employee. I need to be able to count on people to keep their word. Apparently you feel that is too much to ask of an employee and I am "crazy" to expect it. Fine. Think what you want. You wouldn't work for me for very long with that attitude. (I know, you're much too wonderful and perfect and sane to ever work for the likes of me, so that should never be a problem for either of us, right?) The OP hadn't even started to work yet and she was already trying to figure out how to get out of keeping to her agreement. At the very least, she looks to me like she's going to be a high-maintenance employee who always expects some kind of special consideration and someone who always wants to quit early when there is still work to do. I've had employees like that, but not for very long. I keep the good, reliable employees, pay them well, treat them with respect, and have managed to prosper as a result of such an approach to doing business. Call it crazy if you want, I don't plan to alter my methods just because you think some whiner should get special consideration.
