My position working at home doing family practice, ER notes, and psychiatry was eliminated. They then wanted me to drive 50 miles one way to retrain to do general - when gas was $4 a gallon, besides they went 24/7, meaning we would be expected to work any shift, any day, typing whatever it is they needed. I was not cut out for any of that! Checked with UI office and was told that I could quit for reasons caused by the employer and collect UI. That is what I did. Be sure that you can afford to pay for your own health insurance and anything else you need first. However, I picked up some part-time stuff and filled in with that. UI kept the first 55% of what I made, and I got the extra 45%. With that, my income did not drop from where it was before quitting, and saved a ton of miles on my vehicle.
I have had a psychiatry account for eight years and that has increased. Along with that, I work with a company that measures their success in how many millionaires they can produce; therefore, I am doing well and love being my own boss!
