In Reply to: I know several couples who drive trucks together, share the routes. Started doing - it in their 50s, too. nm
If you think you make nothing doing MT, then you will make less than nothing trucking. Been there, done it, it is very hard and have to have a very strong marriage to make it sharing that cab and bunk believe me. Now if you have no bills to pay, go for it but then if you did not have any bills you could make it being an MT.

We thought a lot about trucking but have 7 dogs and 4 cats would have to leave for weeks at a time. We'll find the right thing though eventually. Thanks.

We thought about the trucking at one time as sort of a permanent paid travel job but truckers are only paid when they're producing (driving) and when you have to break lots of speed limits to get a load to "X" for a delivery at Friday at 3 p.m. and there's nobody to take delivery until Monday at 8 a.m. and then you set in a truck stop waiting for an additional couple of days for another load, well, that gets REAL old REAL fast. I decided that I didn't have the placid demeanor for THAT back when the pay was better.

I need to talk with someone who has experience with MT while long-haul trucking.
Hubby wants to change jobs and do a partnership and long-haul truck. Don't know if this is a mid-life crisis thing or what. If you have done MT work while on the road for extended periods please contact me - good or bad. I would want to still do MT. I know people have RV'd and done MT at the same time. Thanks.
