Frustrated Beyond Belief
I'm having the same problem too. I try to start out the day with a good attitude, and pretty soon I just want to pull my hair out. It seems like EVERY day it turns out this way. Plus I'm just learning, so I don't know if I'll even be able to get 1000 lines. How DO you get 1000 lines in an 8-hour period when sometimes it can take a long time to listen to something or clean up a real mess. I honestly don't know if I'll be able to do 1000 lines a day. The dictators are not tht good. I had one today I couldn't get the name of the patient PLUS she dictated the wrong MRI #. I fought with that thing for over an hour, trying to figure out how to get the name. How DO you decide how long to spend on each report esp. when I'm like you; I don't like to leave a bunch of blanks.

important thing in situation like this is to help friend help herself, not just give pity. Show strength and initiation and pass that to friend, not just poor you. Give compassion but also give the feeling friend CAN make her life what she wants it to be.

I'd like to see hard data before buying into that belief
I will blast a poorly performing QA'er all day long. Someone with something of substance to offer in critiquing my work is someone I communicate with and have nothing but respect and praise to give. I won't get into a snit about the use of too many or too few commas, but a QA'er who fills in a blank I sent in for a second ear and fills it with something incorrect IS someone who holds no respect in my eyes. That is the person I'll blast all day.
