thinking that I don't feel so bad now. I have two sons, been through the death of their father at their very young ages, and all the hard times raising them on my own. My younger son NEVER forgets me, even if he has tough financial problems, at the very least he gives me a card and little bouquet of flowers. Anything is a surprise to me because I don't really expect anything, just grew up with that way of thinking. Up until a few years ago, the older son would remember me, and I keep those memories close in my heart, but yesterday, Mother's Day, was the first Mother's Day he remembered since he married a few years the Real Witch of the East! They do not come here for any holiday as she has her own "traditions" which exclude our family, unless we want to go over there and spend the holiday with them. Would be well and fine, but I don't know what is worse; not seeing my son and grandchildren (her stepsons), or putting up with her. Besides, my younger son would NEVER go over there for whatever holiday. I get to see them the day after, except this Easter, when I was told "You'll see the kids on Friday (after Easter)." So you see, you're not alone with the pains / disappointments of holidays. Can't wait until my grandsons get married, and she gets it all back!

You obviously did not read the thread from below
I was not complaining about MQ. I was complaining about the person who says that anyone who posts anything about MQ is whining. All I said was that this is the forum for us to talk about any problems we may be encountering, or to share tips, or give news, etc. I just don't think it is fair that every time someone has something to say that isn't absolutely pro-MQ, they are accused of whining. I am tired of trying to defend MQ MTs who let these assinine people insult their intelligence and then attack the person who is trying to defend their right to say anything they want on this board. If you want to flame me, go ahead, I know that I had no malintent and I also know I have broad shoulders.
Yep, just read this thread below. There are
a couple on here defending it while insulting MTs who don't think they pay is fair. Really makes me wonder if they aren't MTSOs.
I did read the thread
I believe Ella was commenting on the post directly above hers which is saying "curious" is paranoid. I interpreted that to mean that Ella was agreeing with that comment.
read the thread. then post.
i'll be editing and tell you what to do next. i hope you listen to me because i will make your life 100% better with my advice. i know everything if only you will listen.
Look down this board and read the thread titled
"How to make money MT'ing" by Dano. It is excellent advice. It should help you a lot. Also on about page 4 or so there are a couple of threads that discuss how some of the higher producers get their production, hints and tips on expanders, macros, etc.
You can do very well at this line of work if you want to and really appy yourself!!
Read the WHOLE THREAD, from the begnning, then you'll understand!...sm
It is very wrong to jump in right in the middle of a thread!
You have to read what lead to this particular comment.
Just read whole thread. Yes. Working for a service is okay because line rates
actually have gone down. Just make sure they pay for spaces, headers, footers.
Make something similar, but I ditch the pimento and add some chopped scallions or spinach instead

dog liver failure
Mine died from Deramaxx too. She developed liver failure and had a horrible death at home in my husband's arms. When I heard about the Vioxx recall I immediately called my vet, concerned about Deramaxx, and they assured me it was fine. She was dead a month later. We blame ourselves because we had also given her Revolution, prevention for heartworms and fleas, and she became lethargic and vomiting four 2 days after that, which probably weakened her liver further.
Your liver is NOT enlarged. ULN is just what it says...
upper limits of normal. I would venture to say that if you had had an MRI of your liver done when you were 25, it would have said liver was ''upper limits of normal (borderline)'' and spleen was ''relatively small'' bordering on hyposplenism. That's just the way God put ya together. Now stop it. And get back to work.
Don't get your liver in a quiver -- yes
I told her about the boyle (boil) and did you not read about QA. Hey, if she has another spelling of that, no skin off my back if wrong. Don't know how your QA works, but mine much more forgiving of a letter than a completely wrong word like the above. Just trying to give her correct but maybe you think that is right in the first place?
So do mine - and they also love liver, like me!!
Any other liver lovers out there?

Liver protruding through the abdominal wall
My father just had an MRI and it shows that his liver is protruding though the abdominal wall. He has a hugh "bump" on his right side, sort of like a hernia. The doctor is baffled by this and says that she has never seen anything like it before. Has anyone ever heard of this happening?
Did they check his liver functions and does he still drink?
My son had that problem a few years ago. He's 30 now and his liver function tests were through the roof when he was checked. Once he stopped all alcohol intake, his night sweats completely disappeared. He used to sweat so much it looked like he wet the entire bed and even his wife would be wet.
The whole notion of a liver detoxification is just a marketing ploy and a myth.
Myth
Health question-liver enlargement? Scared to death
GYN ordered MRI of abdomen and pelvis without contrast due to pelvic pain and previous uterine resuspension suspecting I might have cyst, etc. I am 44 and have been healthy all my life (never smoked or drank or used drugs, exercise, not overweight and eat very healthy) just perimenopausal and using bioidentical progesterone last 1-1/2 years and last 6 months started on thyroid supplementation (low dose T3/T4) for hypothyroidism. Since starting these 2 things, I have been feeling great compared to previous lack of energy, etc. Got results of the MRI today but haven't seen doctor yet. Everything looked fine on abdominal scan (gallbladder, pancreas, adrenals, bone marrow, etc) except report said liver was ''upper limits of normal (borderline)'' and spleen was ''relatively small'' bordering on hyposplenism. Okay, now I am totally freaking out. On routine screening, my LFTs have always been within normal (latest 10/2005). I did use oral contraceptives up until about 6 years ago and used them from ages 18 to 25 and then 28 to 38. I haven't been able to transcribe at all today, just sitting here in tears. Keep thinking of all the reports I have typed which seem to indicate liver enlargement indicative of very serious matters. MRI doesn't mention anything about lesions, nodules, etc., but it was noncontrast so I am wondering whether it would pick this up or not. I am obsessing and wondered if anyone could give me some insight. I have been ''Googling'' all afternoon and everything I read sounds awful. Is it possible to just have a slightly larger liver than what the normal range is? Can the reading of an MRI be influenced by the skill of the radiologist or affected by artifacts (it did begin report saying motion artifact noted but I think this is common on all MRIs from what I have read)? I did do the ''breath-holding technique'' when doing the scan. I am wondering if my years of contraceptives could have predisposed me to this and possibly the absolute worst, liver cancer? I really don't have digestive problems except sometimes it seems like my food sits heavy on my stomach and takes a few more hours than usual before I am hungry again; this is usually around ovulation or right before menses. Sorry this is so long. Just need some insight before I lose my mind here.
In 12 years of MT'ing I've never re-read an entire chart. Edit/read as I type. nm

Yes, I read your post, and I just re-read it, and I've copied and pasted for you in case
you've forgotten your own words! Your post above is 100% different "flavor" to it, now all positive and cheery! Your first post was 100% doom and gloom every which way, including "raining on your parade", and "if you want to go forward"...God, sounds like she's talking about jumping into oncoming traffic! Here is your quote:
My first boss (the one who hired me as a new grad) gave me some words of wisdom that I haven't forgotten. She said that transcribing at home with small children NEVER works under any circumstance. Either the work will suffer or the parenting will suffer.
****
How can the word "NEVER" in caps be interpreted in any positive way? You took about 8 paragraphs to cover every aspect and completely dash this poor woman's dream. I'm not blind, I'm not talking about day care at all, I'm talking about the total negativity of your original post! You know exactly what I'm talking about, cause you added some sugar to your second version! And that's much nicer than the first!
Oh I've read that site and continue to read it...sm
I agree...much motivation there. I have tried to quit numerous times in the past and did successfully quit when I was pregnant for the first time many years ago but I have never managed to summon up the strength or resolve to stay quit. Thus the "need" for a financial investment in my efforts. It somehow makes it more motivational to know that I have $$$ invested in this effort over and above the $$$ saved on cigarettes.
Who had time to read?LOL I only get a chance to read This Old House once in a while. (nm)

Actually there is another thread that says
the same thing - "off subject" and I have seen that several times before, so that's why I asked. Wasn't faulting you or anyone else at all. Thank you for explaining that you mean it's not anything to do with transcription. Heck, we get tired of talking about transcription anyway! Nice to be "off topic"!
this should be a fun thread
What is the shortest time you have worked for an MT company and why did you leave? I have found that I can predict the first day if the company is going to work out for me. Other experiences?
I saw most of that thread was gone...
so how was the chocolate frosting or did you resist it? LOL! Been there done that!
see thread below
There is thread below about halfway down the page that started yesterday about this. I think the simple answer is we don't know yet what it means for our jobs. It's rather vague. Now, I would like to say that it is just about getting records digital and away from paper and that's it, but Obama is saying that it will save billions every year. The only way I can see that happening is by jobs being cut and I can't imagine all of them coming from record clerks who file the paper records. On the other hand he says it will create thousands of jobs, but it seems from what I have read that he is referring to computer people creating and managing the electronic records because it has been said that there aren't enough skilled people right now to handle it.
Probably goes with the thread below. nm

I didn't read the other posts but just read this
My daughter got pregnant at 17, said she wanted an abortion but BF didn't. I have a wonderful 2-1/2 yo grand daughter that I don't think I could live without...and now, guess what? I don't. I have custody of her. She was dropped off on my door, I got court ordered temporary custody and final custody hearing in a month.
I'm single with no family support. I had just taken a new MT job one month before this happened and they have been wonderful during my adjusting to being a mom again and I hope I can resume a normal schedule by next week.
I'm passing no moral judgments or giving moral advice. The situation is what it is. My prayers are with everyone involved.
Definitely an eye-opening read. Having my teens read it, too. nm

yes, this thread has gotten way off track
z
Now that certainly followed the thread! Bravo! Thanks for
that totally coherent thought. When there is a thread on make up or hair color, do you post on the the War in Iraq? Probably! Perhaps the OP (original poster) who asked about working at home with a newborn had something to do with the topic being babies and...working at home! Imagine that! Pardon us all for staying on topic.
since the thread is here.. grout? Have tried
iloveyouifyouknow
I posted this thread. (sm)
My thread isn't putting anyone down. I asked a question. If Dano or anyone else doesn't like it or doesn't want to answer, DON'T.
I have my reasons for asking the question. If others get their feelings hurt because someone has a degree or education, too bad for them. I'm not walking on eggshells because of their fractured inferiority complex. I'm not attacking them. I haven't belittled them over their lack of education; if they don't want an education that is their business.
I'm "superior feeling" because I want to know who has achieved higher levels of education.
Go away.
I think RadGuy DID see that thread.
He usually posts everyday but hasn't since before yesterday, so thanks for running off a good guy and one of the bright spots on an otherwise gloomy board of complainers. Do you feel better?
This is an EXCELLENT thread--thanks! nm
.
you don't, but you can start a new thread and
for others to reference.
This thread does not include the other 90% of us
who struggle with bad dictators to make $300 a week.
Acne - I know this thread is old, but
I found article on a dermatology site I was looking at. It's on a product that I think has been around for several years, was it Differin? Something like that. This study finds that those who use it in combination with any other acne treatment get better results (don't have my drug book with me to check the spelling).

and really, if this thread continues....sm
We should be taking this to the Medquist board/forum here and not on the Main Board where we currently are.....
Sorry - should have been posted under thread below. nm
