When you are hired ANYWHERE you sign an employment agreement and a set rate per hour/week, etc. is agreed upon. After working for awhile you usually get an increased after 3 months, 6 months based on job performance, attendance and other factors. Being an IC is no different and I wish people like you would stop mis-informing people. I have been out of transcription for about a year and couldn't be happier. I visit this website occasionally and it's sad to see how MTs are STILL putting up with the BS. I now have a job with medical, dental, vision benefits, PTO and only work M-F. I am 55 years old and transcribed for 10 years. I don't miss it at all and it saddens me that the number of unhappy MTs has only increased, not decreased.
