Betty Lou types for Dr. Smith. Has for years. He even brings his hospital dictation to her cause she's always been his office gal.
Dr. Smith's office closes eventually and Betty Lou must work elsewhere. She's done MT work for 25 years. SHe knows her stuff.
Problem is, Betty Lou only did Dr. Smith's stuff and he didn't care about format, spelling, etc. Now Betty Lou is in the leagues with professional MTs who have had AAMT BOS-2 training, multiple accounts with hundreds of dictators and complex account guidelines on top of learning a new system.
Betty struggles through and gets her job. However, she's neve had QA in her life. Suddenly every report she does has some major issues. Betty is mortally offended. She's NEVER had anyone tell her she was wrong. She's right. She has never had anyone who cared or QA'd her work to tell her. That doesn't mean she doesn't have errors.
See what I mean? Believe me, it happens. When I first started seeing it, I thought I was just getting the poor testers then I realized it wasn't me...it was THE TESTERS! They always had the same story: I've done this all my life with 98% or better quality..yadda yadda yadda.
I don't listen anymore. Show me the test scores! Let me see you prove what you're saying. Sadly, more than half cannot.
