My BIL was having terrible vertigo recently and had to go to the ER because it was painfully acute. The first thing the doctors started talking about was a brain tumor, but if he was very, very lucky, it might just be benign vertigo. Rather than order an expensive MRI or other tests, they had a therapist put his head through the motions to correct benign vertigo. It worked! The doctor explained it meant he did NOT have a tumor. He was extremely happy with his diagnosis! Fortunately it has not come back.
