Hey, my daddy used to live in PP, now lives in Plantation.

It's just a symptom of our mentality... Let someone else take care of us so we can

Typical welfare mentality, just sit with
your hand out and do nothing to help yourself. Let the taxpayers take care of you. Never take any responsibility for your own welfare or the welfare of your family, just collect the welfare bounty that everyone else pays taxes to provide. Why shouldn't people be prepared?
Typical care about no one else mentality
Typical me..me..me, dont care about the rest of the people, lock me and my family await in a gated community and who cares about anyone else mentality. God help you if you are ever the victim of a disaster and did not have the time or money to buy supplies. I sure hope every one around you has your attitude and you feel the pain of hunger and thirst..Hello, America, where are you?
Tired of the victim mentality
I am so tired of the victim mentality in this country. We are supposed to make up for black people's ancestors being slaves-- well, that was over 100 years ago that they were freed and had plenty of time to do something about their situation. Other minorities have had things done to them, as have Caucasians. The idea is to GET OVER IT and get on to making a better life, not sitting in a woe is me attitude and wanting something for nothing. The people who are alive today had nothing to do with what happened in the past. It is true that only Caucasians are made out to be racist, but there are racists among every color, nationality, etc.
The "some day my prince will come" mentality
Soap opera thinking will get you every time.
When was the last time you saw a man think like this?
So middle school IMO.
I agree with you - but, I was once of the mentality that I could type sm
and therefore could do this job. I was lucky - I had a company willing to train me. When I look back, I still don't know how I made it through the first year, but I am so glad I stuck with it. I'm probably a "fluke" in this business with no training whatsoever before I started, but I was determined to work at home, and here I am.
It hurts me to see this 'us VS them' mentality......sm
As far as critical thinking in nursing, it means something completely different that it does in MT.
Many of the errors that we see in reports these days are a product of VR. The push is on the MT to produce more and more reports for less and less compensation and unfortunately, some things get missed ----- and yes, they are sometimes hysterically funny. Being a former MT, I always let the person reading the report know that the account is being done by VR (which is true at the hospital where I work) and not a "for real" MT. Not one person that I have spoken to about VR had any inkling this was the case.
I worked as a trainer for a national and can tell you personally that I trained RNs who wanted to make the transition to MT. Some were excellent, some marginally OK, and some just terrible. I am sure that if the reverse were true, some MTs would make excellent nurses, some would be just marginal, and some would be just terrible.
There are different skill sets involved in these two jobs. If a patient were going bad, I wouldn't care if the nurse had good grammar and could spell, as long as she knew what to do clinically for the patient. By the same token, if an MT can produce an accurate, grammatically correct medical record (something that "verbatim" is making obsolete LOL) I wouldn't care if that MT couldn't insert a Foley catheter or start an IV.
I think it's just a case of not having a working understanding of each other's skill sets.
Just something to consider.
Sick of this us-versus-them mentality between MT and QA.
Everyone has a job to do, whether MTing or QAing. Each one is designed to participate in producing a high-quality product.
If you don't like the relationship between the 2 positions, you should probably find another career. Oh wait! There will be quality issues with ANY job!
Sorry. Guess you're out of luck!
I agree with Hayseed! Don't go into it with the mentality that
you have been "cheated" but that an error was made and needs to be rectified. I don't know how long you have worked for the company you are speaking of, but if it has been awhile and this is the first time this has happened, it is more than likely an oversight.
EXACTLY - it'll never affect me mentality.
I signed, sent to everyone I know and asked them to send it to everyone they knew. Start believing we can make a difference.
This is the blame the victim mentality. You are not alone in this situation. sm
It isn't just you. The situation you're talking about is really tough. I don't know what the answer is but I know it is impossible to do a good quality, profitable job when you have zillions of different dictators.
This mentality is the very reason MTs will never unionize successfully.
nm
That "it's everyone's fault but mine" mentality.

Typical bleeding heart everybody is a victim mentality, except of course...
those who are smart enough to not get pregnant at 14, finish school, work hard, and pay for and provide for themselves. Then they are villified by YOU for not wanting to just give it all away to those who have NOT made good choices for themselves in this infinite land of opportunity that we live in, the same country where people around the world are knocking on the doors to get into, and HAVE come here and taken advantage of the opportunity here. Opportunity doesn't mean it's handed to you. Sick, young, old, down on luck, or having a rough spell is one thing, but a lifetime of mooching is something else. There IS a difference. But that shades of gray world you live in doesn't allow you to see with any clarity.
small mentality usually means small pocketbook
Still make more than you and I but that is deserved. They've put the effort forward and educated themselves.
