I use a USB 875U aircard, it is a lot faster than dialup. I log directly into a hospital's system from home, also used a VPN at one point, worked fine for both. No it is not as fast as DSL but huge improvement on dial-up. Maybe next time just say you have DSL and avoid that problem. Not too many people understand the aircard/875 modem, I had to call the help desk a few months ago when I could not log in and they argued with me that my aircard doesn't work with their system, had to tell them, well it has for the past year, and dial-up before that, they were floored and had no clue. Whatever the glitch was it got fixed in about 10 minutes and I was back to work.
