Good luck, but you'll need your CMT...
The only other way possible I can think of, and someone above already mentioned it, is have another Transcriptionist train you. That's how I got into this field. However, most transcriptionists aren't in the situation to train to nor do they probably want to. If you do choose to do online courses, I would personally recommend CareerStep... just stay away from PCDI! I have two friends going through CareerStep and they both are enjoying the course.
Otherwise, this isn't a job you can just walk up to and start without any knowledge. If you want an easy job like that where you need no training, or training on the job, try a gas station or fast food restaurant. Sorry, I'm not trying to sound harsh, just truthful. You need a lot of training before working as an MT, as another poster said, it really is like a second language! You have to learn terminology, pharmaceuticals, anatomy, etc. However, I wish you the best of luck. If you *really* want to become an MT, then you can do it!
Good luck. See what luck they're having on the

You're right, can't find a good one
My platform is down and I'm always up for a good challenge, but I think part of the problem may be is that just a "physical therapy" reference/search site is too general as there are so many facets to PT,such as ortho, cardio, etc. I've looked for a good site for this for over an hour, hopefully someone has one right at their fingertips. Good luck.
Google South Beach Diet forum and you'll find a good board there for information. nm

We wanted to drop a telephone line... couldn't get a human being on the phone... couldn't get a reply to internet... couldn't get anybody to just drop the wretched phone. Kept getting billed. Finally did get somebody, got a service number, but kept getting billed even after that. Hours, and I mean hours were spent on hold, on the phone, getting shifted around. I wish you a whole lotta luck dealing with AT&T.
You're supposed to be able to do
twice the lines because VR is editing as opposed to straight transcription; it would depend on the dictators and the VR program as to how much editing would be required by the MT.
It'll happen. You'll find your fit.
You might have to kiss a few frogs first, though.

You're supposed to go back to school because of this government???
Maybe you should go back to school because you have higher expectations for yourself instead of blaming the government for the result of your own life choices.
Try assuming some responsibility and try making your life better on your own without blaming someone else.
Such a defeated attitude! Is that the government's fault too?
The government isn't Santa Claus. No one is responsible for our success but ourselves.
Grow up.
That is a good offer. Pay is not that good at UIMC. Good luck! nm

They're not supposed to touch my computer ever, but my teenager is sneaky!
I just happened to notice just now that it happened after I had transcribed dictation file through the TransNet Player and and then I got a VR report as my next one and the wave volume was down again as soon as I got into the VR report. Is there a difference in the sound files?
Expensive is right -- around $300 per credit hour! But they do have a good rep. Good luck! nm
You're welcome. Best of luck.

You're in luck . . .
It is $29.00 plus shipping . . . I waited a week for mine, but now I wish I had at least paid for 2nd Day Air. Check the link above my first post (tried to put it in the original post but did not work).

I think this one is supposed to be pretty good
I've only ever used it for double-checking, though (which it was fine for), so don't know about all of the features, etc.

You're supposed to plant them in beds and line the bed with chicken wire and then place the bulbs
on top of the wire and cover. This keeps the critters from getting to them, but is a lot of work.
Unless there is a network to connect to, you're out of luck.
Basically, you need to have an available network (also called hot spot) that will allow you to connect to the Internet. The card is only hardware, not the actual network.
Even WITH health insurance, I think we're out of luck. (sm)
I have insurance with the same ins. company I had with my old employer. All we had to do was change a few addresses, right? Wrong. That in itself was a big ordeal. So now, I go to the dentist to get an extraction, and the chintzy dental insurance just BARELY paid for ANY of it. I paid out about $500, they paid only about $150.
So then I go back to the oral surgeon a week later for checkup & suture removal. Insurance didn't pay ANY of it.
So then I go to buy medication the other day. It's migraine medication I only use once in a great while, and it's NOT available in generic form. In the past (with the same ins. company), I paid a $20 deductible and they paid the rest. So imagine my surprise the other day when I finally ran out of the medication, went to refill it, and I was told the "co-pay" was $210! "Whaaaat????" I said. And it turns out the ins. co. only paid $17.21.
What is wrong with this picture!?!?!? What happened to co-payments being smaller than what the ins. co. pays?
So I call their phone number, and first I get some chick in... you guessed it.... INDIA. Told her I wanted to speak to an American. She was NOT helpful. So I took their company survey, and gave them all zeros. So THEN I get a call from an American. Not much more helpful, though she said that I had a yearly "deductible" of $250 for medications. ??????? Aren't "deductibles" supposed to be for the BIG stuff? Like setting fractures in the ER, or hospital stays?
So I said that the meds would most likely last another year, maybe year & a half. So EVERY time I get these pills, it's gonna cost me over $200????? And the Rx is for only NINE pills. I added it up, and that comes to about $25+ per pill.
I came home absolutely FURIOUS, and of course, I got another migraine! ("Your Health Maintenance Organization at work!")
Meanwhile, I'm overdue for a bunch of stuff like a physical, mammogram, and an MRI 4 years out from a tumor removal, to make sure it hasn't come back. NO WAY can I afford to have those things done (not on an MT's pay!), and have the insurance company stiff me like that. I'm about ready to report them to the Better Business Bureau. HMO's are a rip-off to the max, and are most definitely DANGEROUS to your health!
I'll find it and let you know. I was beginning to think this was all about
.
Yes, but you'll probably need to find a smaller MTSO.
Put your resume in the MTstars resume database specifically stating what you're looking for. The smaller MTSOs usually don't put ads in because they don't want to be bombarded with hundreds of resumes. If you leave your info, they'll come to you. I had three independent contractor "p.r.n." or "very part-time positions" this past summer, so the positions are out there. Then I figured since I was already putting in 30 hours between the three, why not just work 20+ hours as an employee? So I am. Good luck with it!
I'll bet you can find one on Ebay cheap.
I've been buying up the antique kitchen gadgets because they work better and cost less than the newfangled junk.
You go, Tinks! You'll have to let us know so we can find it on the internet and see it.
I feel exactly the same as y'all. I think we could start by sending letters not e-mails to our respective state legislators. And it would certainly not be a bad idea to send a letter to the presidential candidates. I bet Hillary would do something about it. Anyways I hope she would. My SIL is Indian. He was down here last weekend and told me he received an e-mail encouraging him to get into MT for only $450! he's a bus driver. Scam, scam, scam. He also told me that Indians are all crooks, and those are his words. he told me many stories of people stealing, bribes being expected, etc., even from the law and customs officials and the post office, on and on. So there ya go. Some may think our info is safe over there, I think not.
I have thought about contating our local TV/newspaper for the same reason -- to expose the dirty little secret at the big hospital here in town.
If you check the archives you'll find
this same question has been asked numerous times, but basically most have felt it a waste of time and wouldn't recommend them.
I really wish you good health and good luck!
I know that what you are doing is a major undertaking. Just remember that this is what you want and that you CAN do it! It won't be easy by any stretch of the imagination, but once you have accomplished it, you will truly know what you are capable of. I think you are very brave. Please know that all of us are pulling for you and are here to help you if you need it. Go to the hospital if you are feeling at all unsure or unstable. Don't give up because the reward will be great. Please let us know how you are doing.
Pulling for you!
Hi, Lucinda. If you search on editing, you'll find SM
a lot of discussion since so many of us share your situation. Lots of people here have been editing for some time and should be able to offer answers to any questions you have afterward.
Good luck. We each do what is best for us. nm

I used to be on MedRite with MQ-- loved it and it was SO easy-- then they switched to DocQScribe. I haven't been able to make my line counts any more like I used to. I work much longer and much harder and wish MedRite was back. The other night, I had to a split job-- the lovely doctor batched three preop H & Ps. I got the first two OK, then the last one never came to me. I had to call the office, girl there said I "needed to call the techs"-- which I did. I was on "ignore" for 35 minutes (I timed it) before a real person answered the phone-- only to be told that he couldn't do anything and I had to call the office. Another call to the office-- the girl said she got a "system error" and still couldn't give it back to me. Now if that would have been MedRite, I could have just gone back to the job myself and retrieved it and had it finished and over with. But I guess that's PROGRESS.
Good luck
I have been in many hurricaines, living on the east coast, but nothing like Katrina. Good luck to you.
I just sent it. Good luck!

I wish you luck because having a baby and getting to stay at home with it is very rewarding.
In my opinion, having the experience of working at a hospital is definitely in your best interest. If I were you, you could go to the local job seeker's board here or go to MTjobs.com and apply.
You will do fine!
Best of luck to you and the baby!

We have a lot of drama in my family also, so I totally feel for you there. Ironically, the holidays seemed to be the only time everyone was nice to each other when we were younger. Now, we all live so far apart we are lucky to get together once a year. We are all so different!
Good luck with 10 cpl...sm
In the last three years going through the hiring process twice I have never seen more than 8 cpl with five years experience. I wish 10 cpl, but you just don't see it. If you are acute care you may get more, but I do clinic work.
Good luck. sm
Wal Mart knows what it is doing. They are very generous with donations to local communities and the local governments eat it right up.
As I posted above, our local Wal Mart, which was obviously thriving, just had to move across town to open one of those obscene Super Wal Marts and built it directly behind Kmart and a large supermarket. Kmart and the supermarket are hanging in there, but I don't really see it lasting much longer.
I used to go to the old Wal Mart for office supplies, but I'll pay the extra buck or two now.
Just the way the store layout goes ought to tell you something. If you want to go in and grab some food and you need dog food, cat food or shampoo too, you need to walk all the way to the other end of the enormous place, passing all the "bargains" in between.
Like I said, they know what they're doing. The sad part is that the majority of the general public actually want a Wal Mart.
Good thing is that when our Super Wally World first opened there were major traffic jams and no parking spaces, but even during the holidays the hub bub had died down considerably and you could get in and out of there in a jiffy.
Okay, I admit I went there at Christmas. It was the only place in the state that had any Q20's left.
Thanks! Good luck with yours too!
See a pain management specialist if you can. They are right up there with God in my book! Again, good luck Laurie. I have to take my meds and get to bed. Tomorrow is another day.... Nice chatting with you. How is the work in Seattle?
Good luck
I have no real advice as I have the same problem. You would think our hands would get hot as it seems they are busy. It must be something about the rest of our arm staying still.
I had DeQuervains about 10 years ago. and occasionally get tendinitis in my thumb when I am sewing a lot. I have had hip joint achiness (maybe bursitis? who knows) from time to time since 1990. Doing MT 35-40 hrs per week is probably not the best idea for me in light of all of this. I'm fairly new to it and think this will be a temporary career for me. I thought sedentary work would be easy on my body - wrong! I think my body needs variety. I'm only 35 and between the tendon/synovial/joint problems and the Raynauds, I feel much older than 35 if I don't take care of myself physically. Right now as a matter of fact, my right wrist is starting to ache on the ulnar side and I have logged only 27 hours so far this week. Time for some Aleve.
Hope your hand feels better soon.
Good luck to you too!
To finishing up your BSN!
