They'll do the work by posting every other word

Posted By: here....sm on 2005-08-20
In Reply to: Even if they pass, how can they do the work? They will make pennies an hour and - have to work 16 hr days, just like in India.

because medical transcription is so danged "easy" to do! We just type what we hear (who cares about the danged PATIENT?).

married (happily, others not), you just come off as interested in what we do as MTs (because you understand), you are funny, witty, and have a great personality....

I can just see it now....
You are personally invited to a virtual on-line wedding to celebrate.....

LOL!!

Okay, next time I'll run the topic of my posting past you okay, Your Highness?

Next time I'll run my postings past you for approval then, okay, posting police?
I love the "my way or the highway" attitude. Get over yourselves.

Anybody having problems posting on word board ?

I have tried several times but will not post, some type of error.

Ask on the word board, you'll get more
response there.  Did you Google it?
Um, I am doing research by posting here and asking for opinions of MTs who work for these companies.

Oops...i don't know how to work this crazy posting thingee yet...

Since I didn't get any answers, I'll re-word! sm
I am looking for an LD company that will cover MTs usage. Also, really want to hear from people who have had their service for a considerable period of time without problems.

Without having Word open to refer to, I'll see if I can help...sm
When you click on autotext to open it, it should be where you can type in a new entry. Type in the entry you want to delete, and when it is highlighted I think an option should show to delete. I hope this is right, but like I said, I don't have Word open and I may have missed a step. Hope this gets you started in the right direction anyway.
I'll try - my Word is old though, Word 97. SM

Shoot. I didn't paste your note but I'll try to remember.

I use Word 97. So my autocorrect for -year-old is yo and it types out -year-old, like I type 90yo and get 90-year-old.

CTRL+E is what it says when I hover my mouse over the "center" icon. You know there are a lot of tips you get like that, just hovering your mouse.

As for bolded headings, I use ShortCuts for Windows, but I am almost 100% sure you can use AutoText and put a bold command in there.

Still waiting - where is the word RACE or anything race-related in my posting?
Still waiting - where did I mention anyone's race in my original posting? I didn't and you know it.

Get off your self-loathing anti-white crap - whatever sucks in your life has nothing to do with me or anyone else on this board.

And, by the way, since you clearly know I never mentioned race until YOU did, I'm done arguing with you. I have better things to do than match wits with someone who hates/resents her own kind.

Have fun responding though. I'm done with your witless banter.

Hey Frank, I'll work for you
email me and we'll talk.
Now I'll never get my work done. Puppies!

They'll ask you what sort of work (sm)
you like to do best and least, and then they'll make sure to assign you to the sort of work you like least!

Amphion is 70% boring clinic notes, for which they pay a pittance. In addition, you have to input all the demographic data from some blurry pdf copy of a fax printout. Of course the info you're given in the dictation (the account number) isn't how the fax is organized, so you have to play hunt the patient for each stupid little 10-line progress note.

Tell us if you can make any money this way, because I sure couldn't.
Thanks. My optometrist says he'll work with me

until I'm satisfied.  He said if I went to bifocal glasses and was comfortable with them that I didn't have to pay until they got it right.

I was going to wear the new contacts today to give it one more try before I go back, but I got shampoo in my eye in the shower this morning and it won't stop watering, so I'm not about to try to put in contacts.

Yes, bother with it now and you'll work less.

What word expanders work best with MS word? Or..

.. is there another way?   Do many use the "autocorrect" to make your own word Expander without having to purchase anything?  Does that workout well or is it best to buy expander software?

I'm setting things up to start again after a couple years out of hte business.  My Spellex spellchecker expired and I had to purchase a new spellchecker.  Also wanting to get my expander going.  GAH!  It's a bit spendy to get things going again... not fun.

have you ever edits Indian work? You'll never be out of a job.

My responses were always..thanks for the feedback..I'll work on that.

They'll send an email out when they need extra work done.
The bonuses are tied to taking on extra work on top of your regular workload, not production or longevity.  It's per extra shift or per extra report on backlogged accounts.  Call and talk to them if you have any questions.
I'll bet I work for the same national! While I have great dictators, seriously they never say the
same thinge twice, save one surgeon who always ends his op reports with the same paragraph, which, of course, I have in my expander.  I mean it - there are probably 30 doctors, and I never ever get a repeat or any pattern at all! Again, I have a huge expander that I've set up on my own over the years, and rarely type more than a few words "longhand", but I still am not hitting over 200-250 lines an hour.  Oh well! At least I have great dictators, right?
aerobics? If I want to work up that kind of sweat I'll go

That way I don't have to deal with other sweaty people.  Eeeeuw.

well oldtime, I'll bet that you have good work ethics. But, people like you are far and few in
6 to 8 MTs only a couple actually work out.  That is an absolute shame, but it's the truth.  How do I know this?  Because I surveyed several services asking the very same question to each and this is what the averages were.  Of course, someone here will whine about how many services I surveyed, were they friend, etc., but I can say with absolute certainty that I was completely fair in my end figures.
I'll be here! Good luck tonight!! Hope you have work

Work = word

does this only work with Word?
I type on DocQScribe, which has an Expander but I'm just wondering if something like this would be better.
Can you work in word also
Can you work in word so that they can directly download it and then make the corrections.  I have one doc that always changes his letters and so I just email them over and he changes and has his girl do them.  Again, I thought I bent over to help out my accounts but there is no way even I would do this.   Good luck, they are taking advantage of you BIG time.
You would work in Word of WP5.1, whichever
you prefer.  Pay per gross line.   Work is staying caught up so not sure they are hiring, but you can apply on-line.
Does PRD work with MS Word? I thought it was for WP 5.1 DOS only? - sm
Or am I getting confused? I have PRD for 5.1; but now use Smartype for WP 5.1 DOS (like it a lot better)....yes it also works on XP but it took me me a LONG time to figure it out. I have passed the "how to" manual onto a lot of people over the last 2 years. Its actually quite simple once you know how. An inexpensive word Expander is Shortcut, and they have the one they sell here Flashtype that is inexpensive as well. I know Shortcut works fine with 98.
I work in EXText with one and just Word with the other. SM

The EXText job is a employee status job I took for benefits.  I work as a remote MT for a 235-bed community hospital.  I would say I do the same 20 docs or so on a weekly basis.  The other account is a dermatology account that is my own and I do three docs there.

I should add that with the hospital I have a great boss who basically lets us expand everything.  Same with my derm account.  They really don't care, just as long as the works on time and the notes and letters are basically what they said.  No exactly verbatim, but close.

The wife cannot work in Word LOL sm
The wife knows WP but not Word. They have a Mac at home which cannot convert the WP file to Word or that is her excuse why I have to do the conversion for them. This whole business stinks and its just time to move on and not deal with any of this, Im tired of always feeling like a monster and having my heart beat in my throat because I never know what I did wrong this time or how I will be treated when I get in the office.
Make Word 03 and 07 work together!

First of all, I appologize for the LONG message, but well worth reading if you use Word.  I asked this question on the Microsoft Discussion Board on 11/7/08.  Here are the posts:

If it works for you, feel free to share with your colleagues. If double
clicking a doc or dot file opens Word 2003 and not 2007 it should work with
the company software - depending on how the company software calls Word.

I hope this will help everyone!  I know it helped me.  I love typing in Word2007, but for now, I will have to type in Word 2003 until my company's software is compatible with it.  At least I can have both programs running at the same time!  The info on his web page about creating a toolbar is not necessary, unless it is something you need to do for Word 2007.

Go into settings and emualte your WP to work as WORD with (sm)
the different settings and options.
PRD is a dos-based program, will not work in Word.
It is a great program, wish it would, but you might have to look at something like Shorthand. Same with Stedman's. It is a Windows installation, not a copy/paste like the old dos programs (WP, etc.)
I work for a place that pays per word (sm)
and to figure it you just get the total word count (using the word count feature in Word).  You would have to find out if the 1000 words is based on "a word is a word," or if there's some "formula" such as suggested in another reply, like every 5 characters counts as a word and does that include spaces in that count, blah, blah, blah.  I don't know. If it's just straight up $5.00 per actual 1000 words, then I don't think that's good at all.  I make .0085 per word, and I've figured out that it would be an average of 8.5 to 9.5 cents per line.  Anyway, if "a word is a word" at least, $5.00 per 1000 words would probably equal around 5-6 cents per line or so.
I do insurance work as well. It came by word of mouth.
.
I'd work in Word and cut and paste into their system. SM
Ask them if you can type it in Microsoft Word and then cut and paste (copy the Word document and paste it into their system).

It is not feasible to work without a spell checker. Word has a pretty good spell and grammar checker and there is no reason to do without it.

See if their "tech" department can come up with a macro to copy the text of the Word document and paste it into their program. Or, you could create a Word macro and paste it into their system. Either way. There is an excellent Macro recording program called Macro ToolWorks which is free for 30 days and then $40.00 that can duplicate key strokes and mouse movements, and could copy the document, go to their program and paste it in. They you'd just hit one button, like the Ctrl button plus a number. Their tech department should only take one or two days to come up with some solution.

Good luck. I just would not work without Word spell checker and also Steadman Medical Spell Checker. Essentials to any production typing job. Good luck !
Two versions of Word on the same computer will only work
correctly if the oldest version is installed *first*.
It'll be the most expensive magazine subscription you'll ever get! No point in joining. nm

AAMT is a 4-letter word. I work for MQ and never been told
any more uninformed directions from people who don't count?
I'm pretty sure they told us it would not work with Word 2003 at all. NM

Does PC ShortHand work on Emdat or Word Client?
And if so how do I get it to work when using these platforms?
Word 97 thru 2007 all work fine on Vista.

Smartype should work in any word based platform - sm
If Emdat is a web based platform, then it won't work. Fighting that (on Chartscript) myself right now and hate it!
