Baby Chihuahua - Her name is Mione - pronounced "Miney" - Please see message.
Mione belongs to my oldest daughter. She also has a fish named Innie. My youngest daughter has a horse named Minnie. The baby chihuahua is named Mione, and my son has a dog named Mo. Innie, Minnie, Mione, MO - LOL.
Had to QA a report on a baby today, died after a
horrible birth and hospital stay for months. One drug was missing and I just could NOT find it. I am good at that, and felt so bad that this little girl had a big blank in the middle of her report. It was such a long horrible story, including all the agonizing decisions the parents had to make. I just did NOT want a blank in there. So weird, but I went to double check another drug that started with a totally different letter, and when I clicked on that letter, another letter popped up with the exact drug I had been looking for prior. Long story, but too weird, and I knew someone else was helping me out with that blank. I felt so at peace that the little kid had a complete death summary. The patients deserve nothing less, right?
HELP with Shorthand. Suddenly today when I tried to start work today.sm
my ShortHand would type only the first letter of an expansion and then take all the letters away! I checked and the Type It button is grayed out! I have restarted the computer and looked on the Shorthand Help menu but can find nothing that applies. Can anyone please help me ASAP? I am lost without it! TIA

Troubles with Teething - Baby, Baby, Baby
Hi. My little guy is teething soooooo bad and I am wondering if any of you have some ideas that I can try, to hopefully make his life (and my life) a little easier to deal with? lol. We've tried Tylenol - with little pain relief, but much diarreha! We've tried Orajel - it seems to wear off too fast to make a difference. We've tried teething toys - help for only a few minutes (not nearly enough time for me to get any work done!). His appetite is normal, but his sleep schedule has been totally disrupted (as has mine). For the last 2 nights, he has woke up every couple hours. I would think he would be exhausted during the day....but he never goes to sleep. He is more fussy than usual and alittle more clingy, but overall he is very playful. His pediatrician gave me some suggestions (the above) that I have tried with little to no help, so I am desperate for new ideas! He is cutting multiple teeth right now (and just got a few new ones last week too) so he is in a lot of pain. Poor little guy. I appreciate all ideas that anyone has. Thanks in advance. :)
It is quite possible to work with a baby at home BUT - sm
as the poster below stated, your world revolves around the child, not work. I started MT when my kids were 2 and 3. I would only work basically when they napped and at night. Could squeeze some work in here and there but cannot really be too unattentive to toddlers unless they are in the same room as you and you can keep an eye on them while you work so to speak. I wish I had started MT sooner when they were babies though, would have been a lot easier since they sleep a lot. I would not worry too much about it and just do it. Yes you wil be quite tired but you will be that anyway. You will not be able to work a firm schedule of course, so if your job requires that you will need to see if you can change that or else get a job that allows you to work when you can/want but get your work in on time or meet quota if you have one, and go PT if you are currently FT, can't see being able to work FT with a baby unless you are super fast and get your quota done in 4 hours. Good luck and enjoy the new baby when it comes.
I work at-home with a baby....
My daughter is almost 5 months old and I have been working at home since before she was born...I started back to work when she was 6 weeks old...I also have an almost 8-year-old son. It is very challenging to work from home and right now I just work part-time...a little more than the part-time requirements but still part-time nonetheless...It can be very stressful at times and it is way harder than working in-house, especially with children under tow...but we all manage...so if it is something you really want to do then go for it...good luck in whatever you decide...

You have a baby, you have limited time to devote to work. sm
This career requires strict, constant concentration. It requires a lot of time to gain knowledge. It's not like stuffing envelopes or making bead necklaces or making telemarketing phone calls. You have to sit at your computer, with no distractions, with ALL of your attention highly focused. The thing is, your baby requires this, too. One of these 2 things will suffer. You wouldn't bring your baby to an office, and trying to do this job with a baby right there is the same thing.

OUT OF WORK TODAY ALSO
I don't think it matters which office you are out of (below posts) so much as which accounts. I am out of the Denver office and usually have work, but occasionally run out, mostly on weekends, holidays, AND AT THE END OF THE PAY PERIOD. Darn! I knew I would "pay" for taking that 3 hour swimming break in the outdoor pool up at the lake yesterday. Sure was nice though...getting our last "licks" in for the summer!!

So sorry for the loss of your precious family member -
My sister's lab has been attacked twice while on a leash in front of his own yard by a pit bull. The attacking dog seems to never been on a leash. Her lab had part of his mouth ripped open and required numerous stitches to reattach it, plus some bites to his back. Something needs to be done to stop people from breeding pit bulls with these temperments!

Yep, I had to work today, didn't get dinner started until 1:30
So just got done with dinner at 5 pm!! But just thankful to have a job at home where I got to spend the day with my daughter, rather than if I would have had to go out to work today, like some people did! Maybe someday I will get the holiday off, but this is second best!

how many of us there are. We need to be locating and contacting MTs who don't use MT Stars or other MT boards, and start networking with them. Five or six of us from this board deciding to stop work today isn't going to change anything. We have to get our numbers up, and get all of our collective antennae pointed in the same direction.
Today is different and you cannot fight companies who LEGALLY can offshore work.
So all Americans refuse to buy goods, shop at stores, or work for companies who offshore. That leaves a mess. Do you realize a lot of American companies are actually owned by foreigners? Get real and move into 2005. You are going to spend a lot of time boycotting once you do the research. I doubt you will be able to shop or work at all.

I went through heck with BellSouth when they charged me a surcharge of an extra 50 a month and then would write a letter saying I had to switch to a long distance service and pay by the minute because of my "excessive" use. They told me the unlimited charge was for an average of an hour a day not somebody who worked out of their home and I needed to switch a business plan at over 200 a month charge. I switched over to cable because of that and then to read that cable was going to charging on a per use fee and not a flat monthly fee it upset me. It is the nature of our work, VR, only paying for VBC, having headers and footers taken away, now being charged for being on line, etc. It just seems that everything is done to keep to insure less money.

It seemed a little rushed at the ending. I was also expecting to cry or get emotional or get shocked like I usually do. It was very mundane and the ending was rushed. Looks like everyone died exactly the same way, except the gay boyfriend.

 Quit acting like an ostrich and pull your head out of the sand. Pick up the paper some time and read it or tune into the news when you can fit it into your busy schedule because it's really important for you to know what's going on in our world today. Of course, your other alternative is to keep doing what you're doing, with your head stuck firmly in the sand, thinking companies are paying bucco bucks/line rates in today's world economy.
