The twilight zone

Will someone assure me I'm not there?  I've been getting inpatient progress notes on the same patients over and over for the past week or so.  Yesterday and today, this name and number comes up that I'm very familiar with, and lo and behold, the person does not exist in the database!!  I looked up by MRN, last name, first name, partial name, and she's gone!!  I even went into a prior report that she did appear in the database and the numbers, spelling, everything is right.  When I look up her name from that report, again, she doesn't exist!!  Is that weird?!  Did someone accidentally delete her from the hospital system, you think?

Hard Drive Twilight Zone...

Hi,

Last night I had a file and folder open and left them there.  This afternoon I sat down to try to get some work done on it.  I decided to clean up the bottom tray and closed out the file, folder, and other www pages I left open (Yahoo., local library, etc.) to re-open items in the order I usually like them only to discover that the drive that I work on is totally missing.

I've done searches for names of files on that drive, searched for the drive itself, checked the trash bin in case of some fluke it might be there.  Nada, zip, zilch, ___you fill in the blank, the system says I used a bad word.

What else can I/should I do besides shoot myself?

Thanks.

I live in zone 3 and there are some
great canadian developed roses out there distributed by Bailey's in Minnesota Morden Centennial is the best- very winter hardy to -40 lots of blooms. Have tried several different ones some have scent and some don't

what time zone are you in?

Post below about dinner made me wonder what time zone everyone is in--it is after 9 p.m. here and you are all grilling out.....sounds yummy though.

I'm one of those MTs that can sort of get a zone and... SM

I don't hear anything around me.  My husband literally has to come up and touch me to get my attention when I'm working and then I nearly jump out of my skin cause it's like he snuck up on me.

I've been working at home since my son was a baby.  He's 14 now.  He had asthma and respiratory difficulties from birth and so I needed a profession that allowed me to be at home with him.  At first, my production was just gross, but you'll find that you adapt pretty easily.  Now, with both kids at school (my daughter just started kindergarten), I've seen my production shoot way up to the 1800 to 2000 range just because there are no interruptions and no excuses!

Your production will get better and better.  It just takes time.

Comfort Zone
Yes -- so true!  This board is a comfort zone for MTs new, seasoned and everything in between.  I'm so glad it is here and available 24/7.  The help and support is wonderful!  Nice to know there are people on your side!
Gotta shut the door and zone out and get it done

Been there, still go there sometimes.  It took me a long time to just focus on the work, because at first I thought, "This is so coooool!  I don't have to actually go to work.  I think I'll go make brownies and come back to it later."  WRONG!

Had to make myself a schedule, as the kids were getting packaged brownies and the dishes were never done.  It's tough at the beginning to and when I started a year ago nobody was home.  Then school got out and I realized I had forgotten to factor in the summer part, which was a nightmare!  "Mama! You're not WORKING, ARE YOU?"  Ended up starting at 4:00 a.m. and then working again after everyone was settled in bed.

Now I'm back on schedule. Good luck.

I second this suggestion. Just pick a time zone and let people know. (nm)

Zone Alarm Pro also protects against adware & spyware.
It also protects against pop-ups. I've been using Zone Alarm Pro for years and never had a problem (with Windows XP or current Vista). It doesn't bog my system down like Norton did. The free programs don't protect on all levels like Zone Alarm does.
Yes--it airs at noon in the Pacific time zone after a repeat of last week's show. nm
