Just like any other business you have to solicitate to get the accounts, put out flyers, brochures, call on offices or whatever.  Be prepared to pick up and deliery, do tapes or digital.  If they want a call in system, either invest in one or use one of the companies that provide you with an 800 number and charge you by the minute.  -- Very expensive.  All in all you will need to provide what the service you are working for right now provides.  Be prepared to take any and all accounts, no matter how small to get your foot in the door.  Be prepared the first year not to take any time off to prove yourself.  It is not easy but it is worth it to me.  Good luck, again as I have emphasized before you will need to do a lot of mailings, callings, etc. to get that first account.  Heavy traffic is the answer, multiple mailings to the same offices to get them to remember your name, networking with other MTSO's in your area.  But it takes time, energy and perseverance  to get there.   Good luck. 

I talked to someone in tech support one night and told him that the server had to be clogged or something and asked if they could reset the server or something.  I was only making 70 lph.  He said well I can turn your speed up.  I was like ?what?  He said we turn everyone's down so they dont clog up the server to keep everyone running smoothly.  I had to call every night for them to change it and I eventually just quit. 

I thought that was just wrong.  I never could get past my expected production.

I am checking into other options for transcription.  Can anyone tell me how to compare all of these types of lines & also payment per word?  I know companies use different scales, so I wondered how they compare.  I have been paid on a 65 character line with spaces, but I may be making a change in the future - don't want to get burned.

If so, maybe some of them have their own departments and you can get hired inhouse.  That's what I finally had to do in order to get the pay and respect and steady work that I needed.  I'm working less than full-time and making 30,000+.  You may have to work in house and follow a set schedule, but at least you'll have a decent job.

                                            FOSAMAX DOSING

The prevention dose is 5 mg daily, the treatment dose is 10 mg daily. Alendronate should be continued indefinitely. Although discontinuation of the alendronate does not result in the rapid bone loss seen with HRT discontinuation, a gradual decline does occur, so some maintenance therapy should be utilized. The dosing may be modified once optimal bone mass is restored.  One could then consider the 10 mg dose to the 5 mg prevention dose daily, or perhaps to 10 mg every other day.  A once weekly dose of 70 mg or a twice-weekly dose of 35 mg is presently being evaluated as an alternative-dosing regimen but has not yet been approved. I have always charged or been paid by 65 or 60 character lines or per letter or space typed, but have never been paid or charged per gross line.

What is the advantage of this?  If I were to charge 11 cents per 65-character line including spaces, what does this figure out to for an average line rate and how do you do this calculation? 

I'm wondering if it is financially beneficial for me to bill by gross line or to keep it the way I have it.  I do know some accounts will only pay per 65-character line, as this was the deal my first own account I recently acquired.  They were adamant on a 65-character line, but didn't specify with or without spaces and I personally would never not charge for spaces.

and he said that new graduates (probably medical school ones also) are being told that Medicare/Medicaid won't pay for claims that aren't EMR genrated by 2014 and as early as 2009.  Thus several new doctors are starting right off the bat with this type of program.

EMR is a fact of life, the touch screen programs are being touted highly for doctors who perform the same type of procedures over and over and several hospitals and large clinics are making the switch.

Nope, go ahead and cash them as I already have.  If they had anything to do with ANY kind of settlement, it would clearly have to say so.  It just says adjustment, period.  He also said that since the class actions go over many different platforms dating back before the days of DQS, no way it could be a settlement.

Go shopping he told me, it does not state anywhere it's a settelment.  He says just like any other legal document, "by signing the below or cashing this, you are giving up your right to yada yada yada.
