 You don't have to go through all that work of being phoney baloney here on the net, how exhausting is that anyway? Thank God, it saves on the stress headaches and the teeth grinding, although I do that anyway but if I had to work with people my teeth would fly out of my mouth i'd grind so hard.

People like this poster who don't need the assistance but will wiggle-worm their way through loopholes and use any end to the means are taking away from those who TRULY need the help, and it just p*sses me off to see someone VOLUNTARILY GIVE UP an income (especially when so many are unemployed right now) specificially to scam the system just makes me see red.

Consider the fact that OJ Simpson lawyer Robert Kardashian died of esophageal cancer, and OJ lawyer Johnnie Cochrane died of brain cancer. While I realize that cancer strikes and kills many thousands of people, I find it interesting that people whom I suspect are guilty of other crimes end up dying of cancers related to their crimes. A lawyer who vocally defended a murderer dies of throat cancer....a laywer who was the "brains" behind the defense of a murderer dies of brain cancer....a mother who killed her own child dies of cancer of the reproductive system. Maybe it sounds more like sicence ficiton than a plausible proof of guilt, it's just something that intrigues me.

Trying to explain last week. It's the *too many cooks spoil the broth* theory and I think if those having problems with VR would examine it really closely, they might realize this is exactly why things the system was getting correctly suddenly go haywire. I've noticed it especially in terms that are expanded and should not be (kg, mg, WBC, things like that). At least one MT or perhaps several MTs are expanding these terms to add extra characters, and it's wreaking havoc with the system. I don't want the few extra characters bad enough to go against the client profile, so I change them back to the correct abbreviated term.
Also, with regards numbering, that becomes spastic depending on how the list is dictated. If the dictator says *number next*, all will be fine and the numbers will be correct; however, if the dictator is self-numbering as he/she dictates, this creates problem if each and every number isn't properly enunciated. Also, a VR system cannot override what is dictated (i.e., if clinician dictates 'number 3' when it should be 'number four,' the VR will go with what is dictated and override itself).
I'm all set to get bashed, flamed, called a liar, have it insinuated I'm a subhuman typist, and every other insult MTs who despise VR can think of, but VR is an amazing bit of technology in CAPABLE hands. By that, I mean MTs who are consistent and not expanding to garner a few extra characters in every report and educating the dictators on how to handle numbering, etc.
I love doing VR work and as long as I do not have to clean up each and every report, I much prefer it to straight transcription, as do my wrists, shoulders and neck.
Thanks for your input, and I'm glad someone notices the same human-caused glitches with VR!

cherrypicking co-worker issue (meant to post it on this board instead of MQ board) sm...
I need opinions please...I work on a very small account with just a handful of ladies. Because of the nature of the software (trying not to get too specific here) we can see who is working online and what reports they are working on in real-time...
We have one cherrypicker on the account. Instead of using FIFO method, she retrieves the reports by author ID - usually picking the better dictators of course. She knows I busted her and she did admit to it in on our work e-mail (not too bright) which I am saving just in case she gets out of hand - so far I'm still able to make money since really most of the dictators aren't bad.
But every night it's starting to wear on me since she's screwing up turnaround time. I don't really want to cause a big uproar being that it is such a small account and I need to work with her almost every night usually one on one.
What would you all do? I want to handle this as delicate and professional as possible because we can't really afford to lose anyone on this account. In other words, I refuse to stoop to her level by cherrypicking right back.
My boss has asked me several times why so-and-so does so much more than I do...I just bite my lip at that point but one of these days I think I might explode and just open up a can of worms....

Just wanted some insight I guess on what the whole field is about, i.e. hospitals versus working at home, etc. I know that sounds broad, but there is so much info on here, it's hard to grasp it all.

but I am out of Amherst. Obviously, if you run out of work, it is not the MTs fault, but if the work is there and you can't be productive, I think there is a problem with the MT. I do run out of work as well, but I have never been on this board complaining about it. I find different times to work when the work is there to get my lines in. It is as simple as that.

I have only been on this board
a short time myself when things started to go bad. I feel it is an outlet for me because as I and others have stated MQ does not care and we want to speak to each other in some form.
I am not afraid of taking any leap. I am trying to stay with a company that I have been loyal to because I have been with them so long. I do not enjoy jumping from job to job. I do not like being treated this way and it only happened within the last couple of months.
There are no proper channels at MQ. I have tried, believe me.
I do have control over my life that is for sure and I know when I am being treated unfairly and now is that time. I will be doing something about it; but I need to find that other job. I just can't quit, cannot afford to, and who knows how long it will be before I can get started again all over.
I have 20 years experience and have never been treated like this so it is a bit overwhelming and unbelievable that it is happening. I expected to be with MQ until I retired. No such luck now.
I will be leaving this board soon but when people, not saying you, are nasty and do not understand what is going on it is hard to not respond to them.

No, this is something different. It's an MT board with MTs
who work different places. It's not a MQ board. Best I can figure it's an MT clique, but I'm not even sure about that. I'm just curious because people seem to be so secretive about it. I used to think they meant MT Daily when they referred to "the other board" but that's not it. They say the board is actually CALLED "the other board."
I cannot tell what board to get on now.
I am totally confused as to what section of the religion board to post on. There is nothing for general Christianity or perhaps Quaker pursuasion, etc.
I also have no idea what I am, liberal or conservative or what. I liked it better when you could have a real discussion. We exchanged ideas. I know sometimes they got out of hand, but I don't like any of these boards now. They are just plain too confusing now.

it isn't offensive if she cannot get enough work and wants to explore other options. in fact, she's got what it takes to survive. go look on another board here that only talks about 1 specific company and see all their gripes. those people aren't willing to do anything but sit and gripe about not getting any money.
to sheryl -- you go girl. do what you have to do. you gotta take care of yourself. don't worry about people getting offended because you are asking for help. i wish you could train for another kind of work, like i posted above.
It's a big hit across the board in US.
ABC was so happy with the success of the first Dancing with the Stars they are doing a second which is more popular and bigger hit than the first. The dancing is great.
