how much or how little you type, say $12.00/hour, you do not get OT. As someone mentioned here, certain jobs are exempt, and as most of us are paid a flat rate of .08 cpl or .09 or .10, whatever it is, that is all we get regardless of how many hours under or over 40 hours we go. If you want OT then go get an in-house job or get a job doing something else.
Yes, and FEMA went through this exact scenario
for this storm with the same demographics and destruction level almost a year ago with NO and they were told they would not survive, given a list of procedures and policies to put into place, etc., and a hefty grant to initiate all the action...almost a YEAR ago. Nothing was done by NO authorities. Nothing.

I JUST read that myself on the AP ...I have not been one to judge quickly because there is so much blame game going on but this.......it's just inexcusable and if proven (which I'm believing it to be if the AP has the memo), then Mike Brown not only needs to lose his job immediately but also needs to stand trial for negligent homicide in all the deaths that could have been prevented IF he had not worried about his "wording, CYA he was doing" in that memo, thank God for the common folk who had the decency to start with their humanitarian efforts and got down there when they did and despite.FEMA. I have experience, but I won't go into detail here. I've never seen a classified ad for a trainer, though. Do MTSOs and nationals only hire existing staff to move into training positions?

Although I dont make under 10$ an hour as an MT, try working more as my supervisors and managers have told me in the past when I have asked for a raise. In all seriousness, where do you work that you make that little? Are you paid by the line and how much? Switch companies, do not accept less than 8 cpl. I saw an ad for MDI and they start you at 8.5 cpl. IC's usually make 9+, if you do not need the insurance coverage.
My new training team and trainer are in the US. I believe
right now they are looking for people to be on the USA QA team, as they are ramping that up for USA accounts which do not want to off-shore. At least that is from what I understand. But best thing is to get it from the horse's mouth. I am pretty confident in my decision to join the team, and am looking forward to it. Good luck to you.

I have severe allergies and asthma, too. I've been increasing my time every day and have quadrupled my exercise tolerance in about two weeks now. Also, if you have a Netflix membership, they have a ton of exercise videos so you can rent a different one every week.

I am thinking this was a very long time ago as I know the trainer and she would have done her best to get this fixed for you. I do hate that you had a bad experience. For some, it works out well but not others. That is any job that you start. But again, sorry it was a bad experience for you.
I totally agree with you. Even samples passed out by the MT trainer were full of errors
and some were her own creations that she used every day! I could not believe it.

I am sorry, as long as I have done this and am in the business, I seriously doubt with 99% accuracy that someone can do 1200 lines or even 600 without some serious help from "giving" lines. Do not let anyone fool you out there that is just starting out or even have been around awhile. Unless you see proof on how it is done, see it with your own eyes, try it out yourself, do not believe the outrageous. There is also a way I have seen MT's make lots of lines that one cannot see unless they are being QA'd, it is called "padding' and yes I am sure someone then can do 1200 lines an hour, but how much is actually dictation. Padding is a good way to get fired from a company if caught.

with the 9 bedroom homes on the beach are the ones needing help. In fact, most homes are not even 9 bedrooms in Florida. Even the real expensive houses are no more than 3-4 bedrooms. Get your facts straight. I am speaking from NOT being on the beach, in Houston. When hurricane Rita came through, we were flat broke after buying water, etc. When we lost power, we lost all of our food other than what we ate during the first few days. Some of us had to work and could not get out 3-4 days in advance. After that, you couldn't get out, and I live in Houston not on the beach!! I would have had to take 2 cars to get everyone out, which we were willing to do. Did you see the freeways. It was taking 24-48 hours for people to make a 4 hour trip! There were animals, kids and adults who died on the freeway trying to get out. If we would have attempted to leave, we would have still been on the freeway when the storm hit. We felt safer in our home. Thank God it shifted East though. You speak out of ignorance, as do most people who are so hateful. It IS the goverment's job to help every American in need. That is our God give right when we pay money into the goverment. The goverment is there to protect their people, and that is part of it. You cannot pick and choose who is worthy! You have no idea what their situation is. As I said before, you speak from ignorance.

Snagged this straight from the Escription site. Hope it helps.
We have had success configuring both the Belkin USB/Serial Adaptor and the Dynex USB PDA/Serial Adaptor to work properly with a serial Foot Pedal and EditScript MT. Other adaptors may also work using this setup, however we cannot guarantee that they will.
- To set up the Belkin USB/Serial Adaptor:
- Install the USB/Serial adaptor per the instructions included with the device.
- After installation, open the Windows Device Manager:
- Right-Click on My Computer, choose Properties.
- From the Hardware tab, cick Device Manager.
- In the Device Manager window, click the + sign next to Ports (COM & LPT). You should see the USB/Serial Adaptor listed there with a COM port next to it.
- Right click on the Adaptor and choose Properties.
- From the Port Settings tab, click Advanced.
- From the COM Port Number drop-down, set the device to COM6. (Any COM device higher than COM4 should also work; be sure to remember what you set this to.)
- Click OK to close the Advanced window, then OK to close the Properties window.
- Close the Device Manager
- Now open EditScript and log in.
- Once you have logged in, click on the Options button in the EditScript toolbar:
- From the Foot Pedal tab, change the CommPort setting to COM6 (or whichever port it was set to above).
- Click OK to close the Options dialog.
Your Foot Pedal should now work properly through the Serial/USB adaptor.

My dad is an immature, selfish idiot.
Entertained himself by making fun of me and laughing at me when I got upset, doesn't know how to carry on even the simplest conversation, has been telling the same tired jokes for 40 years for lack of anything to say and goes to bed at 2PM because there are people in the house and he can't keep up with a discussion like a normal human being. I grew up with no self esteem and married the first abusive, selfish, hateful idiot that I came across because I thought that was all the better I could do.
Thank goodness I saw what was going on with me and why and have been straightening out my life for the past 12 years or so and avoid my dad (and the rest of my dysfunctional family) at all cost.

Cleaning horse stall out, 20 a day. I used to have to take it over to a manurer spread that was in a riding arena that was down lower than where I was, I'd open the door and dump the wheel barrow. One time the spread was almost full and I lost me foot and fell in, about broke my leg. My kids were little then and ran to the other side of the barn and LAUGHED!!!! I came up out of there and said "You better not be laughing at me!!" Oh I was hurt and mad!! What a job!

As an IC, I have tried many times to find skilled, qualified people to help me. If I had a dime for every time that didn't work out, I could retire. The fact is, I DO take my laptop on vacations--much to the dismay of my family--but that's the only way the work can and will get done IN A QUALITY MANNER.
Unfortunately, American workers are pricing themselves out of the market with both their hourly wage demands, vacation/sick time, insurance benefits, etc., and the work is going to the lowest bidder.
