they don't usually use the same e-mail address twice. They put all that jibberish in there so you can't pick out a word or phrase to put in your filter that will block them out.

Changing Excel 2003 Addresses Into Word 2003 Addresses
Hello !
I have a large amount of addresses listed on an Excel 2003 spreadsheet. I need these addresses for Word 2003 letters. I end up copying the address from Excel and pasting it into Word, but as you can imagine, the pasted address is in a straight line and I end up having to type the address so it displays correctly for a letter. Does anyone know if there is a simple way to change the Excel address format to a Word letter address format? Thank you for your help.

Sorry, was reading quickly and missed where it was saying invalid abbreviations AND mixed Latin/English abbreviations. The actual paragraph reads:

If they refuse or invent unbelievable excuses, you'll know you have a problem. If MY check was a week late, there are many months I would be in deep trouble.
I realize checks occasionally do get lost in the mail. If they are 100% sure it was mailed, then they shouldn't mind issuing another.
Be firm and be persistent.

In every company I have worked for that pays via mail, they mail the checks on payday. sm
Depending on the distance you can get them anywhere from 3-8 days later. Right now one takes 3 days, the other 3-5.
As far as addresses...
Depending on the state you can get a medical address book, which is a lot easier. Lists all docs, hospitals, nursing homes, etc. in alph. order.

I have good days where I average 200 lph sure, but a lot of the accounts I do require me to look up the doctor, so I have to go to AMA, or the hospitals directory on-line, etc. That really eats time. I limit it to 5 minutes generally then move on. I am also guilty of not being totally focused so that does not help as well. My goal this year (once the kids are back in school, 12 more days) is to buckle down and get serious. My goal is $100 a day which I know I can do and still have a fair amount of free time (afternoons off basically). But is it nice to hear of those who do well. Thanks.

On AOL I can determine who I want to receive mail from and block those I do not -- and if they are blocked they get their E-mail back as being "undeliverable". If she sends things out -- send back --unaccepted. But to be simple just E-mail her back or call the recuriter if you don't want to deal with her directly and state -- leave me alone. If she is in another state you should not be scared of her but you may simply have to put it out there in no uncertain terms.
We do have our QA fill in names & addresses
All of our clients provide us names and addresses of referring physicians. Our QA maintains the lists, and we only ask that our MTs spell them phonetically. QA then corrects any mistakes.
As far as patient names, some doctors spell them for us and some do not. For those that don't, they get their reports back with their patient names spelled phonetically, and it's up to them to correct any mistakes.

have to keep on my toes....even if I delete it smartype will put in some other va....word, so I just try to be extra careful when doing addresses. Kind of funny though.

HIPAA only addresses PHI (protected health information) would is defined as anything that SM
specifically identifies the patient, i.e. name, MRN, SSN, account numbers, etc. As long as all identifying information is removed from a report, it poses no HIPAA violation to keep it on file. Furthermore, as an employee of the hospital in the medical transcription department and charged with peforming QA, I have legitimate reasons to access a patient's chart. HIPAA says so.
Go back and read your HIPAA laws again.

I have several hundred typed out, but cannot for the life of me figure out how to turn it into a mailing list. I have downloaded Avrey Wizard, but when I try to do it, it asks me about field delimiters and no matter what I pick it doesn't work. Maybe there is a simpler way??

Working full time at home with small children is hard but part time works great
is almost impossible. You will either have to work when your spouse is home or for only a few hours during the day and then more when they are asleep. I work part time at home and my kids (2&5 now) have done very, very well. They are great kids, very well behaved, don't get into much. I stop working to check on them/give them some attention every hour or so while I work (5 hours each afternoon or so) and they get all my attention in the morning and at night. It has worked out beautifully for us.
Yeah, our choc. lab does that from time to time - makes it interesting!- nm

full-time in office/ part-time at home
I currently work full-time in a physician's office and have started part-time online. My hope is to eventually go full-time online; however that will be done the road for a single mom with a son in college. My suggestion would be try to type part-time for a MTSO and see how that goes i.e work and money with a decision down the road for ultimately being home all the time. A guaranteed paycheck is always a necessity for me. Hope this helps.

I got it to work but it takes forever to get into your email box and send anything. I got into my box yesterday..slow..slow.slow..Today I got in and tried to send an email to my Transcription Coordinator and two times it would not go through, finally the third time it did..I dont know why they changed the system..maybe some techs needed something new to do so they made a new project to change the email system. If they dont fix it, it is a disaster..Hopefully today, the first day, will be just fixing the minor things and we will proceed from there..Its always something with this company ya know?? No work, but you better let them know your schedule, cant even get through on email..Grrrrrrrr..

I see they have a message that says "You can still send messages to your contacts through your Outlook or Outlook Express." Wrong. Can't do that, either. Have been on hold to Atlanta for over 1/2 hour. Whose idea was this??

Log in using your I-mail address and your password. I-mail address should be your MQ name (?)__@medquistmail.com. Password. You get into a screen that apologizes etc. Hit continue.
If you forgot anything there is a box that should allow you to retrieve password.
If all else fails, call tech support and they will walk you through it as I did the first time using it at 1-800-342-8283. They can help you specifically for I-mail problems.
