Following the bible is a form of repression. Why do you think priests sleep with little boys?
Limiting MTStars visits! LOL.
But one must check in from time to time throughout the day. Only trouble is, I find myself using that time to also check my e-mail, do a bit of browsing. Amazing how those the clock ticks quickly and the minutes can add up.
You'd be limiting yourself. It only works in MS Word 2000 & 2002.
Lots of people have had problems getting Smartype to work in Word 2003 and you can forget 2007. It doesn't work in different platforms either. You'd be much better off looking at ShortHand or Instant Text.
What I'm doing is making sure that come Fathers Day, I forget to get him something! sm
I ALWAYS have made sure that my kids give their dads (two DS from hubby 1 and one DS from this one).....XH and I div'd in 93 and they ALWAYS had at least a card for him. Now CH (current) has never gotten me any card or anything for Mother's Day but we always have something for father's day. I will just very conspicuously forget Fathers day this year.
You are the exception, not the rule, when it comes to kids w/o fathers.

Panic attack and kids' fathers
I feel your pain about arguing with your daughter's father. My ex-husband is a control-freak jerk who is still trying to control everything my daughter and I do, even 10+ years later!! Unfortunately, my daughter has some health issues and her dad wants to be able to "approve" any medications the doctor prescribes before I give them to her! This is the guy who has seen his daughter for a total of about six hours in the last four months - ridiculous!
If I work when the kids sleep, when will I sleep?
I understand what you are saying about the kids will always bug me no matter what. I just thought that if I had a job where I didn't have to hear dictation and type word for word that maybe it might be easier to block out the kids. There are no babysitters to watch the kids around here, besides that is why I work at in home in the first place. The kids are 2 and 5 so hopefully it will get easier.
Thanks
Those of you with daughters, at what age did you - sm
allow them to have their ears pierced? My daughter's are 7 (8 in August) and 6 and are both bugging me to get their ears pierced. I was 10 when I had mine done, but then again I had no interest in doing it before then. Of course you see the mom's that have their kids ears done as babies/toddlers, but I think that is way too young, but that is my opinion. So what is a reasonable age?
My daughters have certain guidelines in the way they want (sm)
the children to act, be treated, etc. We have an understanding that I won't let them play in the street, swim unattended, smart mouth an adult, cus, or do anything that is generally dangerous for them. They love to help cook, garden and just sit on my lap and be read to. Yes, I may take them shopping a little too often, but they usually have helped in the garden or helped with housework prior, so they are actually earning the money they spend for toys at WalMart.
I would never undermine their parents (even though the father of the two youngest is a true bum) to them. I try to always touch upon good things they should be proud of such as "Your mommy sure knows how to fix you hair so nice, I wish I could do it as well."
These grandchildren are the most precious thing in the world to me and the last thing I would do is act in a way that would keep their parents from allowing them to visit. Maybe you should explain to those grandparents your reasons/concerns. Surely they would be glad (after an initial sulk maybe) to change their ways in exchange for more hug and kiss time from their grandbabies.
teenage daughters
Excuse me for being clueless but what do DH and DD stand for?
I understand where you are coming from. My 2nd daughter from 1st marriage is almost 16 and lives with her dad. Her stepmom is very disrespectful of me. Always telling daughter what I should be doing, like getting a "real job". Now my daughter has taken to calling me names any chance she gets, cursing and disrespecting my fiance's family also. Since she lives with her dad we decided not to let her come down for a few weeks but that will not solve the problem.
Any ideas anyone. I think the names and lack of respect is coming from the stepmom but she of course denies doing anything wrong.
Teenager daughters
Thank you Terri for your encouragement. I will definitely keep your suggestions in mind.
Very young on both daughters - sm
Two weeks old on first daughter. One week old on second daughter.
We adopted our two daughters through...
the foster care program in California. If you would like to know all about it, both positive and negative, please e-mail me. I really don't want to share the whole story on a public forum.

My 3 daughters have myspace sites
They are ages 18, 25 and 26. My older daughters stay in touch with old friends. My youngest has met lots of Marine girlfriends like her and they support each other. There is a lot of gross stuff, but some of it is kids being kids (do we all forget what we were like at that age). However, I do think parents should check their minor children's spaces. There is a lot of admission of underage drinking and drug use going on. I think these kids are nute posting that kind of stuff. I have a site and password too, that I only use to monitor things. My kids don't know that I have that. I just like to look at the pictures.
And yes, I agree, it is not any different than adults posting to sites like this or another adult type informational site.
I have a friend who has her 2 daughters way too busy - sm
They also go the private school we used to go to (trying public this year); so her kids (11 and 8) have a min. of an hour to 2 hours of homework a night to deal with as well as Brownies and swim league (2 different ones, do not over lap though), as well as Sunday school/church. I know they have to do their homework in the car a lot. My 2 do Brownies (every other Monday)right after school for 2 hours, 8-y/o takes 2 hours of dance on Tuesdays after school(only took 1 last year), and my 6-y/o take 1 hour of dance on Wednesdays after school. So I think they are okay but Tuesdays and Wednesdays are more hectic and homework gets done a little later (finished last night at 8, after dinner, homework, showers), Wednesdays get home an hour earlier so that is not as bad. But I agree some parents way over schedule their kids, some so they don't have to deal with them so much, others to keep them out of trouble. My brother keeps his 2 boys pretty busy, though that has slowed down some now that they are older; but he definitely over scheduled his too in the past; and in the summer too, they go to a lot of camps when they could be home with mom though she does not work. I feel bad for his kids since they are always being shuttled off somewhere and hardly see either parent, though my brother now works out of the house (quit his job and started his own consulting firm) so maybe that will change some. I live 200+ miles away so it is hard to say. I just hope they all turn out okay.
Yes, my daughters are getting smart to reality.
When they are out in the "general" public with their girlfriends they know not to flaunt themselves in a disrespectful way. We, as in all parents on both sides, chosen to accept our children because I feel like condemning them for something they believe in is wrong. Do I deep down hope and pray it is a phase and they will change, I'd be lying if I said no, but will I love them any less if it doesn't happen that way, of course not. I do feel bad because my stepdaughter was extremely close to her grandparents and when they found out they asked her to keep her life to herself and they are opting to go with the "don't ask, don't tell" policy. They are fairly religious and state that they will never acknowledge anything in her life that pertains to that. At 18, she was crushed but her love for them stays strong and she respects their beliefs. As a side note, my sister who is a year older than me decided she was a lesbian too after 3 marriages, 3 children and more men that I could ever count her whole life. Honestly, I feel this is some kind of "trend" and it is a little disturbing. I have met some people who were "different" day one and I would think to myself "wow, they really are a man in a women's body and vice versa." It is obvious that they were born that way and had no choice, but what I see now is more of a lifestyle choice when you spend your own life being boy-crazy and then all of a sudden you only date women. What is the world coming to...being "open-minded" is about the only way to put handling all of this.
Yeah, I kept all mine and my daughters will get to read them when
have a bunch of them, Judy Blume, I think is the author.
Daughters' friends call me Miss Lori.

Exactly where would that be and what Bible do you have?
why, because they don't KNOW their Bible
which says it is good for ALL to marry, to avoid fornication, not to mention the perverts that go into the priesthood because they see it as an opportunity for abuse, by the structure of secrecy.
Living God's plan is not repressive, for 'the Truth shall set you free'. Satan will use you up and then spit you out when he's done. Chose whom you will serve, for you will either serve one or the other, God or Satan. As for my and my household, we will serve the Lord.
bible
I dont read your bible because I dont believe in your bible or religion.
According to the Bible ...
Proverbs 24:13 Withhold not correction from the child: for if thou beatest him with the rod, he shall not die.
Yep, that's what it says - King James Version. The word "beat" translated from Hebrew means to strike lightly or severely.
The BOS is not the MT Bible...Unfortunately,
too many have bought into it and believe it is the ultimate authority on anything grammar/format related. IT IS NOT!
It was written by some who have decided on their own to change many age-old rules. The second edition revised and reversed info from the first edition (and, yes, the BOS says I should use "1st" and "2nd" rather than spelling them out).
Thankfully, MOST doctors prefer basic grammar, punctuation and format rules and are not even aware of the BOS, let alone the AAMT.
Those who tell you otherwise are either misled or uninformed. There will be a third edition soon that will again reverse and revise . . . it's all about making money.
Stick to the basic rules you have learned throughout your life, and you should be fine . . . unless you run into a duped QA person.
the BOS is not our bible and many of us...nm
Not sure what Bible you have...
but mine says nothing of women in dresses only, only men working, women having long hair, etc. There are a sector of believers in my community where women only wear dresses, but high end clothes, their hair stays long, but it is really staylish, and they do work outside the home, in high positions actually. A lot of people take the Bible out of context. Jesus does not speak lowly of women at all, women were held in high esteem in their community and were given postitions of leadership in the church. A good book would be "What Paul Really Said About Women" by John Temple Bristow. This is a great eye opener for a lot of men as well who are taught to believe that women are somehow inferior to them.
The Bible says....
heaven and h-ell are even lowercase in the Bible.
Not everyone who follows the Bible is Catholic!!!
I wouldn't know about that. I'm not a priest nor do I have one.
How can it be against the Bible when it wasn't even
invented yet? You're saying that people who read their daily horoscope in the newspaper are against God and the Bible? It's not like we're smoking bidis, sniffing incense, and visiting the palm readers or fortune tellers. Entertainment purposes.
Please read YOUR bible.
I believe you might run across the saying Just Not Lest Ye Be Judged?
I say HA HA! Why not read the Bible. That is all you need to know for your life!

Not living in sin? Isn't homosexuality a sin according to the Bible?
Married or not.
careful ... the Bible says it's wrong, too! so
lol
sorry but the Bible isn't ignorant, dear.
might be careful of that violent tendency as well, all that hammering on someone's head.
besides, everyone here is entitled to their opinion.
No bible? No wine? Wait......
I, for one, choose death!
bible thumpers. god save us.
Ouchie! I think it's a Bible bump!
I have a lump on the back of my hand right in the spot where ganglions appear. My father called them Bible Bumps because the doctors used to whack them with a large book such as a bible to break them up. This thing hurts like heck and my whole hand feels kind of stiff. Has anybody ever had one of these? I'm going to make an appointment to see about it but I've typed so many orthopedic reports I'm pretty sure that's what it is.
you are so right, but the book I prefer to open is the Bible (sm)
and I don't pretend to know it scripture for scripture, but I do now that somewhere it says something about soothsayers and psychics and such are a thing of evil and anyone proclaiming to know the future is of evil. So, I prefer NOT to educate myself on things of evil, we have enough of that forced down our throats everday!
Not according to my NIV bible. It says even if you have lustful thoughts, they are considered sin.

I'm not in the Bible Belt, o judgmental one, unless you don't know geography either. Another r
that is, if there isn't a good rerun of "I Love Lucy" on at the present time!
LOL
Maybe you should both get your nose out of the bible and live the life He gave you...
For goodness sake, if you're going to drag the Bible into it
you might read the part about man being created separately in God's image. In the Old Testament, there are distinctly different punishments for killing a man and killing a beast. Now, no doubt God loves animals and they will be in heaven, but I can assure you, God has not created man and animal on the same level.
Stedman's M&S Equipment Word Book is my bible. nm

To the poster below who equates the BIble Belt with political views
USING TWO COWS TO EXPLAIN. . .
A CHRISTIAN DEMOCRAT: You have two cows. You keep one and give one to your neighbor. Then you covet it.
A SOCIALIST: You have two cows. The government takes one and gives it to your neighbor. You form a cooperative to tell him how to manage his.
A DEMOCRAT: You have two cows. Your neighbor has none. You feel guilty for being successful. You vote people into office who tax your cows, forcing you to sell one to raise money to pay the tax. The people you voted for then take the tax money and buy a cow and give it to your neighbor. You feel righteous. Barbra Streisand sings for you.
A REPUBLICAN: You have two cows. Your neighbor has none. So?
A COMMUNIST: You have two cows. The government seizes both and provides you with milk. You wait in line for hours to get it. It is expensive and sour.
A FASCIST: You have two cows. The government seizes both and sells you the milk. You join the underground and start a campaign of sabotage which ultimately blows up the cows.
CAPITALISM, AMERICAN STYLE: You have two cows. You sell one, buy a bull, and build a herd of cows.
DEMOCRACY, AMERICAN STYLE: You have two cows. The government taxes you to the point you have to sell both to support a man in a foreign country who has only one cow, which was a gift from your government.
BUREAUCRACY, AMERICAN STYLE: You have two cows. The government takes them both, shoots one, milks the other, pays you for the milk, then pours the milk down the drain.
AN AMERICAN CORPORATION: You have two cows. You sell one, lease it back to yourself and do an IPO on the 2nd one. You force the two cows to produce the milk of four cows. You are surprised when one cow drops dead. You spin an announcement to the analysts that you have reduced your expenses. Your stock goes up.
A FRENCH CORPORATION: You have two cows. You go on strike because you want three cows. You go to lunch. Life is good.
A JAPANESE CORPORATION: You have two cows. You redesign them so they are one-tenth the size of an ordinary cow and produce twenty times the milk. They learn to travel on unbelievably crowded trains. Most are at the top of their class at cow school.
A GERMAN CORPORATION: You have two cows. You re-engineer them so they are all blond, drink lots of beer, give excellent quality milk, and run a hundred miles an hour. Unfortunately they also demand 13 weeks of vacation per year.
AN ITALIAN CORPORATION: You have two cows but you don't know where they are. While ambling around, you see a beautiful woman. You break for lunch. Life is good.
A RUSSIAN CORPORATION: You have two cows. You count them and learn you have five cows. You have some more vodka. You count them again and learn you have 42 cows. You count them again and learn you have 12 cows. You stop counting cows and open another bottle of vodka. You produce your 10th, 5-year plan in the last 3 months. The Mafia shows up and takes over however many cows you really have.
A SWISS CORPORATION: You have 5000 cows, none of which belong to you. You charge for storing them for others. If they give milk, you tell no one.
A BRAZILIAN CORPORATION: You have two cows. You enter into a partnership with an American corporation. Soon you have 1000 cows. You expropriate them. The American corporation goes chapter 11.
AN INDIAN CORPORATION: You have two cows. You worship them.
:D
On my way to a Bible study. When I arrived, the other gals there had no idea what had happened. sm
I couldn't even find the words to explain - it was a little after 9. I was listening to, like the poster below, Bob and Sheri (on my way to Bible study - go figure) and Bob and Sheri were in a mood I had never, ever heard before. Very solmen. Describing word for what what they SAW. I didn't even know they were in NYC.
Anyways, I had to pull over as I started bawling. My younger son had taken an accompanied minor flight just a few days prior to that out of Dulles, so this hit quite close to home.
Anyways, we heard while in our Bible study (we decided to meet and pray for our country) about the other flights, but not flt. 93. We heard about that when our local newspaper (a giant) had people walking around McDonalds handing out FREE newspapers around 12 o'clock with pics and everything. The last time that newspaper did that was probably after JFK got shot. We were all scrambling for a paper which I still own to this day.
I remember my 9 year old son reading it in his room (I left it out like a dummie) and he cried like a baby for all those people on those flights who died. The WTC accident got to him the hardest. He still talks about it to this day. Tragic.
I don't know about you, but I do fear another attack like this again. It's hard not to.
Oh yeah. I got a brand new, leather-bound amplified Bible for like 5.00. nm
