The ADHI is a SCAM organization. Don't give them

your hard-earned money, ESPECIALLY when the 'renewal' apears to be premature. $100 is far too much to spend for this worthless 'credential'.

It's what you can do ON THE JOB that matters in the end, not 3 letters after your name.

This group's sole purpose for existing (besides a few key execs striking it rich) has been to close down what used to be a good American white-collar, middle-class job, and send it all to India. And you just KNOW they're getting their palms greased by India to make this happen.

Ask them this: If they're set getting everyone 'certified', then shouldn't what you pay for that so-called 'certification' be in direct proportion to what it does for you? Or where most of the work is going these days? The Indians get a discounted rate for their CMT's and RMT's. If you're determined to continue your certification, tell them you want the same deal they're getting in India (and Philippines).

Wow, these ADHI folks are

really not representing the American Transcriptionist at all. I'm really just speechless. I wonder why they're making such unprofessional attacks on the US transcriptionists.

The representative who wrote the response is either uninformed or downright deceitful in stating that the Indian transcriptionists want the CMT credentials just to have them. On the contrary, their employers are using it as a tool to get their feet in the door to get American work.

I'm just curious as to how many of Indian CMTs have been grandfathered in (not required to take any testing because of years of experience) because most of the companies who do work with them have to have US transcriptionists do a lot of heavy editing.  If this is the case, then the CMT credential is as worthless as it was 30 years ago.  Sad for our industry, really.

I wish some retirees would start up another professional organization for US transcriptionists only <hint hint>

ADHI, former AAMT......
Exactly, EVERY year ADHI makes its own grammar rules, which are wrong, BTW, to get money, confusing the MTs and QAs, causing a lot of arguments and slowing us down.
If we follow the ADHI's rules, we are going to lose our correct grammar knowledge.
Why support ADHI or whatever they
are called with more money. They do nothing for the US MTs.
THIS IS A SCAM!!! This is an absolute scam -
please tell us that you did not send them any money!! There have even been articles written in magazines about this company being a SCAM!!
Topaz is right, dump ADHI - see msg
ADHI is the new name for the AAMT after it was run into the ground.  Practices are the same.  This organization is suffering and needs members and money.  They do not care about the American MT and will sell you out in a second with one hand while taking your money with the other.
Uggh...ADHI are so condescending and

arrogant. Read this first Q&A between a Transcriptionist and ADHI staffer.

It's time for us to find better representation for ourselves. ADHI has become a big business, and its only goal is to keep itself afloat, even if that means throwing the American transcriptionists overboard. I'm joining the ATA....today.

If ADHI gave a rat's @$$ about 'medical record
If their 'cash cow' (India) ever starts to wise up and run dry, like America is doing now, they'll be out of the MT-biz unless they can find another 3rd world workforce to take advantage of.
I failed to rejoin AAMT aka ADHI four years ago.
Anal retentive MTs are a nightmare. A new group should be comprised of the MTs who have a SENSE OF HUMOR and a SENSE OF THE RIDICULOUS.
AAMT ADHI orwhatever they're calling themselves this year...
AAMT ADHI (or whatever they're calling themselves this year) is a conglomerate out to make money ~ like any other business.  They lost sight of the basis for their existence long ago. I was a paid member (as were many MTs) until I realized what a waste of my hard-earned money it was. Ultimately, instead of helping the MT they just want to make a sale.
A new organization
would not be that hard at all to get going if you could round up a enough people to help get started.  I think that is a fine idea.
New organization
I am not sure, but I was told there was another organization out there once upon a time and it folded because of the attendance in the AAMT. I was not part of AAMT during those founding years, so I am not really sure how it all came to be. But, an organization strictly for the American MTs is exactly what we need.
We also need an organization to
I don't think the CMT certification itself was a terrible idea. What IS a bad idea is paying fees to AHDI, the organization that SOLD OUT --that got everyone hooked on the CMT certification and then switched to a philosophy of support for offshoring by establishing foreign CMT certification sites as well as new certifications intended specifically for the people who are lined up around the world to do your job for a couple of rupees per line.

There are employers who don't care about credentials & those who do. If you think some kind of certification will help you, find a new organization. ACLS training will speak infinitely more about your ability to transcribe cardiology reports than the CMT certification exam. Go to eMedicine.com & sign on to their CME program. You can study cases & take tests & track your CME units on their website. There are plenty of organizations out there that are better known to the medical community than AHDI & will look AT LEAST as good on your resume. Be creative. We need to dissociate ourselves from AHDI. Let them become known as the Association of Healthcare Documents transcribed by Indians.
There is an organization...
for American MTs that somebody posted here before. I don't really know anything about it and so can't vouch for it, but it looks to be the only decent organized alternative to AHDI (formerly AAMT) available.

http://www.ataus.org

Certainly a better first step than wasting time thinking about an ad hoc strike/walkout, proposed by someone who *isn't even an MT,* for goodness' sake.
New AAMT organization
Honestly, I would have to sit and think long and hard about what I would want to see. I can tell you that I think the first thing would be to change the BOS. It is too restricting, and should not be considered a "bible" of sorts, because all companies are different, and no all use the BOS.

Secondly, tighter control should be maintained over local and state chapters, as they run by a few "click" members and new blood is not appreciated or allowed in other than just the audience.

Those are just 2, I could go on and on and on... Hey, if you have any ideas of how reorganization can be done, I am there 100%. Feel free to e-mail me. I heard at one time there was another organization, but it never survived.
That is qhy I quit their organization after

This whole organization is a crock
Someone has to pay for all their travel, first class all the way.

I am still shaking my head i amazement about the one biggie in the organization who got his CMT with only 1 year of at home training doing office notes - no hospital experience, etc. This shows how truly worthless the whole certification process is. Credentialing should reflect adequate training in all areas of the profession, and it certainly degrades the title if someone was able to get certified by doing doctor office/clinic notes.

Around the Atlanta area there's an organization ....sm
called BuyOwner and you pay a flat fee for whatever services you want, and it's a lot cheaper than using a full-fledged agent. The people who live across the road from me got a contract on their house within 3 days of listing with them and I've known others with similar results.

The first thing you need to do is make sure you have your expectations realistic. Research what similar homes are selling for in your area. Clean up and declutter as much as possible. Get those closets pretty empty to make them appear to have more space - same for all rooms in the house. If the rooms haven't been painted in a while spring for some fresh paint - be sure to choose neutral colors like white or off-white. Clean the carpet. Keep the yard trim and put in fresh flowers. Keep some of the air freshners that send out a scent every few minutes going through the house to keep it fresh smelling. Go ahead and on the for sale sign in the yard list the price - Good Morning America's report last week said this helps a lot as it lets people know right off hand if it's priced in the budget they're looking at. Doing so will also keep folks from swiping fliers you may set out because they're interested in finding out the price.

As far as realtors go, ask for recommendations from friends and neighbors who have used one. Let the realtors know that you expect them to aggressively push your home sale, i.e. talk it up with other realtors, put signs up everyone they can, etc. Ask them what their plan is for selling your home. Make sure pictures taken of your house for show on the internet show the best angle possible of rooms - 70% of people now look on-line before going to see homes so you want your home to catch their attention.

As far as the realtor that posted below to always use a realtor - I say that if you find one you're comfortable with then sign up. Definitely don't do just the "FSBO sign" in the yard and ad in the newspaper if you're serious about selling, but there are ways to get the word out without paying the high commissions that are worth a try. Signing with an agent doesn't guarantee you'll sell the home quickly.

Good luck out there!
Doesn't surprise me, that organization is as (sm)
shifty as they come. A coupla' broads got VERY rich by selling the rest of us down the river.

Perfectly rotten organization...sm

...that has prostituted themselves to the MTSOs, presiding over and encouraging the loss of jobs overseas using our dues to fund their trips and perks.

It's particularly ironic, in this setting, that the name of this pathetic organization mentions "document integrity", when their position regarding offshore transcription is the very antithesis of promoting integrity in American health documentation.

...and as for the Book of Style, words fail me.

AAMT/AHDI is an organization that should be

AAMT/AHDI is the the same organization, and it -
has played the largest part in lowering MT standards and MT pay. They claim it's been 'raised' by their attempts at standardizing all MT work, and by offering bogus 'CMT' credentials, but all it's done is backfire for the American MT. We paid our US Dollars for these credentials, (at a higher rate than the Indians, I might add). AAMT/AHDI's power grew stronger as the duped more and more medical establishments to do things their way, due to the cut rates they were getting from national MTSO's who were in bed with AAMT/AHDI, and sending more and more of their work to India. That in turn has decimated American MT wages. I know of few (if ANY) other companies, other than those who are facing bankruptcy, that are paying workers less and less each year. The MT business is alive, well and growing, but each year its workers see less and less in the way of compensation for a job well done. It can't go on forever. Eventually they're going to hit the zero-point. Then what? Maybe we'll pay THEM for the 'privilege of doing MT work?

It's imperative that MTs start getting in touch with each other. Their co-workers, MTs they meet online, MTs who work at other companies. It's time to start comparing notes, and start coming up with a plan. Regardless of whether it's a walkout, a sickout, a letter-writing or phone campaign, posters, flyers, radio time, or an ad in the newspaper, the more people that contribute, even a tiny contribution in the way of time, skill, or just their own voice, the better our chances are of still turning this thing around before we all become extinct.
Its all a matter of organization and using your time wisely! I have
3 kids that are pretty wild. I have tried babysitters and they only last a day with my kids, but I am still able to put in a 40 hour week, clean houses for extra cash, do all meals, take care of the house, laundry, etc.

I have a binder with chore lists, schedules, meal menus, etc. It helps a lot.
Planning, organization, schedules, determination, and
making others be responsible for themselves and respectful of your time, effort, energy.

Taught the boys to do laundry, cook, do housework.

Taught family/friends to respect work/study schedules.

I don't feel the obligation to answer to anyone else anymore.

Is there an organization (informal, not like AAMT) for radiology MTs?
Just wondering....I think it would be nice to be able to communicate with other rad MTs.

i have been through some rough times lately and had to apply for some help. there are signs, big signs, all over our offices saying "YOU DON'T HAVE TO BE LEGAL TO GET HELP". so we and our government do give them our benefits whether they are legal here or not. now that is messed up. i am helping to support them so they can take away my jobs and i can't even support my kids and yes i get benefits, wow $75 a month in food stamps which lasts not even a week in a household of 6. don't get me wrong, i am thankful for any help at the moment, but i get penalized for trying to work my tail off and still can't survive.

there was recently an article in our local newspaper where one of our local school districts tried to charge $1000 a year for each illegal student enrolled. it was bulked and the illegals got a lawyer to sue for discrimination. the school district merely stated that they had to HIRE extra teachers that could speak the foreign language just to teach these children and were trying to offset some of the expenses. ridicilous!! so again our taxpayers money is paying to educate illegals as well.
Aw come one give her a break. She said she was sorry and is willing to refund. Give her a chance to

do what is right.  If she fails to do what is right, then go about this in an adult way and not act like such a child.  "you suck"  That is so immature.

She is responding to you and you are eating her alive.  Why would she put herself out there to be treated like this if she didnt mean it.

I am really astonished at how people can act on here.  Would you treat people like this in person?  If you do, I cant imagine you having very many friends.

Remember we are all "HUMAN."

Is this a scam or what? (please SM)
I wrote a check to pay auto loan which clearly stated the amount on the amount line and was written out in the line of amount (two hundred forty-six dollars and 00.91).

The check went through for 200.96.

I got a call from auto loan HSBC (Household) who said I owed them 61.00 for late fees. I bank with Wells Fargo.

What is up with this??? I have never in 25 yrs had this happen. Who could be at fault? Has anyone had this experience.
I'd say it is a scam. They want a $97.00
registration fee, one time supposedly. I doubt you would get anything for that one time fee. Who knows what you are typing and if you are part of spam itself.

I wouldn't go with it.
OMG - SCAM. You do not have to
pay for a grant!

You should call the Federal Trade Commission with that phone number and any information you have about this group.

Bless her heart.

Sounds like a scam to me, report it to your State Attorney General's office and if they can, they will get her money back for her.
Yes, do believe this is a Big Scam.
Did she give them her checking account number so "they" could debit the $300 ?? If so, they can clear out her bank account.
yes its a scam
if you don't have the same email in your "my ebay", then it is a fraud. Being you haven't even bid on such, it is definitely a fraud. go to main ebay site and read about scams and how to send them the info -- these e/mails can give every appearance of being legit -- some scammers are very very good at it. I never even open 'ebay' email unless its in "my ebay" email, or unless its an invoice on something i've bid on.

It is a scam. I got one that says I never sent payment and they

The AmeriPlan Scam

I would just like to say to the MLM Scam that seems to know everything about EVERYTHING!

AmeriPlan is NOT a scam...it never claims that you will get rich quick or anything else.  What it does do is provide a way for people to work from home if they want or need to.  Yes, I am a Independent Business Owner for Ameriplan and I'm so proud to say that I am.  I am a Christian with high moral standards and if it weren't for AmeriPlan my husband that is paralyzed from his neck down would receive no medical help at all.  If it weren't for AmeriPlan my husband would not receive his prescriptions in a timely manner.  If it weren't for AmeriPlan I would be working outside of the home with my husband in a "home" somewhere other than ours.  My 2 and half year old daughter would be in day care and wouldn't spend everyday with her mom and dad.  I support a family of 6 (my husband, myself and four chidlren) thanks to Ameriplan.  Prior to AmeriPlan I was constantly stuggling to make ends meet and most of the time they did not meet at all.  My husband was placed in the hospital on several occassions because I could not afford prescriptions that he needed so desperately.  He will be receiving Medicare at the end of this year (2006), but until then we are so thankful and grateful to have a wonderful plan like AmeriPlan.

As with any company, there are going to be disgruntled Employees.  Some businesses work great for some people, but they do not work for others.  The fact of the matter is...if someone really wants to work from home and do the work, treat it like a business then they will succeed.  If they choose not to do this, more than likely their business will fail.  Doesn't take a rocket scientist or "MLM Scam Pro" to figure that one out.  There are some scams in MLM network marketing, but their are a lot of programs that are not.  You just have to do the research and find out for sure.  As far as the better business bureau goes....AmeriPlan has complaints I will not dispute that fact, but you also have to consider the extremely high volume of customers they deal with.  The last time I checked it was 200+ complaints, but in regard to that we have 1.7 million members!  These are people that are completely satisfied with our services.  The complaints come from people that are trying to work the business that, as I stated before, were not successful.  MLM marketing isn't forever one and just because they did not succeed at it does not make it an illegitimate company nor a scam.

As far as people referring to it as insurance...this is a huge mistake many new brokers make.  Ameriplan will terminate someones business immediately if an independent business owner sales our discount benefits plan on the premise that this is insurance (and they are made aware of it).  Of course AmeriPlan cannot validate every single person is not referring to our plan as insurance some time or another.  It is unfortunate that people do misrepresent what AmeriPlan has to offer, but again these are INDEPENDENT Business Owners, so AmeriPlan cannot "police" their every single more or comment.  Also, there are "bad seeds" in every apple...unfortunate, but true.  Ameriplan works diligently to weed out those bad seeds, but just like any other large company you don't always find them until it's too late.  Just ask the now bankrupt Enron how great Kenneth Lay was?  They didn't realize he was a bad see until he had depleted everyone of their retirement.  I'm sure every employee of WalMart, Target, Dillards, and JCPenney's have not all been exemplary, but they are not considered scam artists because of the fact they have a few bad seeds.

Now for the refunds.  AmeriPlan does offer a 30day money back guarantee to MEMBERS...not Independent Business Owners.  They do not guarantee you to make money in 30 days because they cannot guarantee that a IBO (independent business owner) will do what they are suppose to do in order to make money immediately.  I personally can guarantee that if someone signs up to  be an IBO under me and they take the training that I offer, accept my help and coaching calls that they will make money in 30 days.  This isn't a written guarantee nor is what I'm saying backed by AmeriPlan because I am an INDEPENDENT Business Owner.  The odds of someone doing all those things are pretty slim, unfortunately because I would love everyone to be as successful as I have been, but no everyone has the drive that I have.  It takes someone that is extremely serious and willing to focus and put in the hard work in order to be successful.  To say that AmeriPlan does not stand behind their services is completely false!  They are excellent services, I use them myself as well as many of my family members that has insurance to boot.  We have a 90% retention rate with our services which means that 9 out of 10 people that use our services KEEP our services.  I'm not sure which state you live in because I find it extremely hard to believe that you have only a couple of providers in your whole entire state.  Maybe  you should learn to quote the facts rather than make up whatever is convenient for you.  Ameriplan has 500,000 providers nationwide.

I apologize in advance for offending anyone if I have at all, this was not my intentions.  I only want to stand up for a very reputable company which not only writes my paychecks, but is extremely reputable!

Wishing you all a week filled with GREAT health and Blessings from Above!

transcription scam

Does anyone know how to get hold of the article from Parents magazine on the transcription scam? I have been in the process of training with a company and I am not sure if they are legitimate. I have not yet passed one test. I always fall short by 1-2 mistakes. I have been at it for over a year now. Mind you, I have only done this part-time as I also work for a drug store. Thank goodness for that, as I am now not sure there is a future here. I went back to college and received a degree in Office administration/medical and have a certificate but really wanted to work doing transcription out of my home. The reason I chose this company is that I didn't have to have high speed dial up. All I have is dial up. My connection is good and I can upload and download fairly quickly. Unfortunately the majority of transcription companies want high speed or higher. If you can give me any information on this, so as not to take up my valuable time further,  and can still look for companies which do not require high speed or years of experience please let me know. I am desperate right now. I only want to work part-time as my husband is retired. My dreams with this career were to be able to go on the road and travel and work at the same time. I don't need a big paycheck, just some backup money. Please help if you can. Thanks
