Basically, you've got it right. However, voice files can be large and email may reject large file attachments. Also, there's the security aspect that you didn't mention. Basically, the voice file and finished document need to be encrypted to be secure.
You said you don't have the time/didn't take the time to do the research. Lots of people have and have shared their findings time and again on this board. I, for one, am not willing to reinvent the wheel every time someone is looking for this information but doesn't want to take the time to do the legwork. No offense meant but please do take the time to educate yourself. If you really don't have the time or don't want to take that time, then be prepared to pay for that information in the form of a consultant.
Do an archive search on this board and you'll find lots of info. NM

so find a different profession where you'll make more money - plain and simple. nm

Yes, it is long, and lots of it is written more toward
programmers who use it.
It's a good program, but it does have some quirks. Sometimes I find I hit some combination of keys that gets everything stuck in uppercase for a while. It goes back to normal after a bit.
I totally agree. Them not paying is NOT hearsay. It is fact so why let them scam hard-working MTs.
SAY NO.. to their advertising. What a scam they have going.
oh my gosh, run, do not send them money - it is a scam. nm

I was surprised at options. I'm 58 and lots of jobs are paying more
For a long time MTing was a stable career (it transferred all acros the country) and a respected one.
Now it is a scam operation.
There are jobs we never would have considered before because we thought we had valuable skills (typing speed, education, knowledge of medicine/drugs, dialects, computers). But that value has been brought down to below burger-flipping pay. In fact most days lately I would have been making more at Burger King.
That's why I say go LOOK. You will be surprised that you can be paid more for "showing up" than for what you know. SAD ISN'T IT. But that's what's going on right now.
They scammed people into thinking "oh a stay-at-home highly paid job" NOT.
They were taking your money to train you for 6 weeks or 6 months and telling you were qualified enough to do transcription from home without supervision BUT IN MOST CASES YOU CAN'T SO DON'T TRY - but in the meantime these fly by night MT training companies have your $2000 or whatever. That's the scam.
If hospitals really wanted MTs they would do MT trainee programs. That's how most of us learned. The hospitals just got lazy and looked for the easy out which has cost them through the nose and along the way they lost control of the medical records to boot.
Look around out there. Don't keep letting these companies make millions off your road to bankruptcy. And they can surely take you there while you are hanging on trying to make it work. It's not going to. The big suits are not going to let you make money - they are going to shuffle the way the money is divided and the most will go to them. What used to be our benefits is now their profit. It's really pretty simple.
I think lots of people not paying for the years anymore
If that were the case with 30+ years, my per line pay would be more than what I make now. No more pay for experience.
All you mentioned in original post was about the money. Explain the rest of the scam. The check
:+
And you still end up making more money paying LD. sm
If you consider an 80-hour pay period (which I don't do), at $27 per hour with the 800-number company, you'd make $2160.
At $33/hour, paying $1.80/hour, you'd make $2640 minus $144 (a deductible expense also), still netting you $2496 -- substantially more than the company giving you the toll free number and less pay.
Makes no difference to me. I personally wish you all would stay away from MDI-MD so I could have more work ... LOL
Give them a week's written notice...I'll be leaving xx/xx, please forward final check to . t
why would you have to say anything else?
The money you are paying into SS right now is going to current SS recipients.
You are of the same common misconception (as many others out there) that SS is some sort of a savings program that you will be able to draw once you decide to retire. Any money withheld from you right now as SS is going out to people who are currently receiving SS checks. That "statement" that the government sends me yearly about what I can expect to draw is NOT a guarantee, only an estimate, once I choose not to rely on--it's hardly worth the paper it's written on. Both my hubby and I have retirement savings--401k for him (he's employed by someone else) and IRA for me (I'm an IC).
I am not counting on getting anything from SS because at the rate they're going, there won't be anything "left" for me. This is what I call making a personal choice and perrsonal financial management.
If you think the government owes you SS, you are in for a rude awakening when it turns out they can't provide it when you do retire (as did the OP).
Find a better-paying career
I used to live like that too because this job has no earning potential so I went back to school and now do something else. It doesn't happen overnight because "life choice mistakes" take time to correct, but it can and must be done if you hate living in squallor.
I agree 100%. Where can you find a job paying $30+++ an hour? nm
x
Of course you do. There is lots of money to be
xx
It'll happen. You'll find your fit.
You might have to kiss a few frogs first, though.
I would think you'd make lots of money. My niece had her sm
eyelids and eyebrows done a few years ago, and I don't know what the final cost was, but the DOWN PAYMENT was $800!!!
Good luck!
You can find lots of music
on Youtube. Just type in the artist, group, or song name into the video search. You can save a bunch and can click to have your whole file play or just pick and choose one at a time.
Keep in mind you will find lots of negativity here
Take it all as a whole. Don't put too much stock into just a few negative people. I've gotta tell you, there are a lot of bitter people here. Sure, I understand that MT wages have gone down over the years, according to the long-timers. However, I quit a very good paying job 5 years ago as a government employee to stay at home with my daughter. After about a year, I decided to pursue MT, researched all over the place, and eventually started the Andrews School course. About 3 months after starting the course, I replied to an ad for a student to do SOAP notes. I got the job, and long story short, I never did finish the course because I've been too busy working the last 4 or so years. I now make about $22-$25 an hour. If I have really quiet, uninterrupted time, I can make more than that. I work as both an employee and as an IC. I'm a team leader and an account manager. If I was only making $10/hour after 3 or 4 years, I'd consider switching fields because that's just not good, but if you have the right combination of skills, i.e. excellent grammar, fast typist, good researcher, good memory, ability to roll with the punches, then it may be an option for you. I guess my point is, the MTs at this particular site can be very negative, so look around before you just say forget it. The old "I could make more working at Walmart" argument is one of their favorites.
Can find lots of the Sted's books at www.half.com, too. Love 'em! nm

With that attitude, you'll never make money in
slack when his checks are small. Sorry you can't seem to do it. Maybe you should get one of those "every other jobs" where you start off making the equivalent of 15 to 18 cpl in MT. Let me know when you find it.
I'll find it and let you know. I was beginning to think this was all about
.
you're right. She'll find her way over. NM

Yes, it's hard for me, too. It's such a struggle to find money
to buy gifts for people. I always try to give something I know they collect or a gift certificate to a restaurant or book store. In return, I've gotten Fingerhut freebies, an employee baseball cap, and clearance bath stuff in nasty fragrances like Freesia with the tag left on. I don't see the point in it. I wish our families would agree to stop giving gifts to adults. I seem to be the only one that feels this way. Then again, that's not fair because I've got the most kids.
I find that difficult to believe -- not the money but the hours.
That would leave only 6 hours a day to sleep, bathe, eat, do housework, errands, LIVE.
Naaaaa. That's a legend. LOL
Yes, but you'll probably need to find a smaller MTSO.
Put your resume in the MTstars resume database specifically stating what you're looking for. The smaller MTSOs usually don't put ads in because they don't want to be bombarded with hundreds of resumes. If you leave your info, they'll come to you. I had three independent contractor "p.r.n." or "very part-time positions" this past summer, so the positions are out there. Then I figured since I was already putting in 30 hours between the three, why not just work 20+ hours as an employee? So I am. Good luck with it!
I'll bet you can find one on Ebay cheap.
I've been buying up the antique kitchen gadgets because they work better and cost less than the newfangled junk.
You go, Tinks! You'll have to let us know so we can find it on the internet and see it.
I feel exactly the same as y'all. I think we could start by sending letters not e-mails to our respective state legislators. And it would certainly not be a bad idea to send a letter to the presidential candidates. I bet Hillary would do something about it. Anyways I hope she would. My SIL is Indian. He was down here last weekend and told me he received an e-mail encouraging him to get into MT for only $450! he's a bus driver. Scam, scam, scam. He also told me that Indians are all crooks, and those are his words. he told me many stories of people stealing, bribes being expected, etc., even from the law and customs officials and the post office, on and on. So there ya go. Some may think our info is safe over there, I think not.
I have thought about contating our local TV/newspaper for the same reason -- to expose the dirty little secret at the big hospital here in town.
If you check the archives you'll find
this same question has been asked numerous times, but basically most have felt it a waste of time and wouldn't recommend them.
Your MTs will find it hard to make any money with eScription.
Who was it! I'll contact them and rip em a new A-hole! YOU need the money. How rude of that snot.

They are SCAM, often referred to as "Trans-scam" sm
Trans America Associates used to be Trans Am and they are apparently altering their name so as not to be recognized for the scam they are.
Hi, Lucinda. If you search on editing, you'll find SM
a lot of discussion since so many of us share your situation. Lots of people here have been editing for some time and should be able to offer answers to any questions you have afterward.
RadGuy, I gottah say this. You'll find someone on this board if you keep posting!! Even though mo

What are you paying your MTs? If you're only paying 7 or 8 cpl
and expecting extremely experienced MTs, forget it. You're not going to get it. If, however, you're willing to pay 9 or more cpl then you will find what you're looking for. There ARE experienced MTs out there who will work their fingers to the bone IF they are compensated well and treated with respect.
ATT- I was paying $320 for 7000 minutes, I am now paying $175 for 5000 minutes in CA. nm
