Very disturbing ..
I was hoping it would make me feel better about that whole family situation, but it just made me feel worse

It's totally amazing to me what they get away with. I have another example--Mom was taking care of an uncle's affairs and noted that he was billed for a mastectomy. Not that men never have mastectomies, but we knew for a fact that this uncle did not have one. We contacted the insurance company who responded that they would perform an investigation. After a couple months, we received the response and results of their investigation. They determined that, because the procedure was documented, that they had no choice but to pay for it. We contacted them again and argued that the documentation was a either a mistake or a downright lie, but they kept repeating that the documentation was there, not just a billing error, so it must have happened EXACTLY AS REPORTED. According to them, uncle MUST HAVE HAD A MASTECTOMY because THE DOCTOR SAID SO. Amazing, isn't it?
My husband had a weird sense of humor. But, I sure didn't appreciate it when I found out, after his death, as mentioned in a report from 5 years previously that he had told a psychiatrist that his wife had been institutionalized for 5 years for psychosis. That staff psychiatrist did not bother to contact me to verify the information; he just dictated it as my husband had said.
So, I think it is very important that we obtain our medical reports and make sure that corrections are addended to them.

There has to be some way to convey to you what is on this video. My hope is someone else will also step up and try to answer your questions, as I get very sick to my stomach even thinking of it.
I also do not want to offend anyone who maybe would not want to be subjected to this, you know, who might open the post not really knowing what is in it and then read it.
With a video, you open it, or not, at your own will.
Imagine the chickens you see either on TV or if you ever were around a farm. They are outside running around, spreading their wings...doing things that chickens do instinctly, or naturally.
Now imagine from the time they are born, they are never allowed outside, ever; but are in fact placed in coops the size of maybe the top of your desk, with 9 other chickens. There is no room to spread their wings. They never once spread their wings from birth to death, yet having that desire because it is a natural function and part of their ability to clean themselves, to mate, etc.
Now imagine their beaks being clipped off (the area with most of the nerve endings) with some kind of hot iron type machine, so they can not peck each other to death, like they will from the stress of being in tight quarters.
Now imagine 'chicken' fights, as they are so cramped and upset, fights until death, and the dead chicken just rots beside the others. Maybe the chickens are so hungry from lack of food and water, they even eat it because they have water and food routinely withheld so that they will produce more eggs. Imagine that life for years, never getting out of that coop.
Now imagine after being given growth hormones, their bodies become so big their legs will not support them, so they fall over and starve to death, again, in the coop with the other chickens.
Imagine as they are never able to wash or groom themselves. Imagine being electrically shocked in the metal cages to stimulate the egg-laying...
Now imagine they do not produce eggs so they are now ready to be slaughtered for their meat. They are literally grabbed and thrown violently into the backs of trucks, with broken bones and wings, injured, in trucks extremely hot, for who knows how many hours until they get to the slaughterhouse.
Now imagine being placed on what looks like a conveyor type apparatus, hung by their necks and being wisked by some type of blade that slits open the neck.
I could not watch certain parts and had my eyes closed, but I will never forget the sounds of this kind of treatment/death as long as I live...
These places are not clean, the chickens are not clean.
It is easy to see where the avian flu comes from - we (meaning mankind) have created it by the filth we allow these chickens to live in.
I can not even write about the cows, pigs, turkeys. Is beyond belief how they many times do not even anesthetize the cows before castrating them.
Dairy cows may not be treated so bad while they are producing milk, but a Huge percent of our meat comes from dairy cows who no longer produce milk. Their life may be pretty decent for a while, but it is what happens to them afterward...
I can not even go on...it is a nightmare.
It is disturbing the peace if they bark incessantly.
We have a bark collar for our dog and bring her in if she's barking. She barks at anyone that walks by, which is what I want because she's our guard dog. Our neighbors aren't so nice. I've gotten to the point where I just lean out the window and yell, "SHUT UP!!!!" I don't like to involve the cops or animal control because our neighbors are the type to retaliate.
I find it pretty darned disturbing.

Working full time at home with small children is hard but part time works great
is almost impossible. You will either have to work when your spouse is home or for only a few hours during the day and then more when they are asleep. I work part time at home and my kids (2&5 now) have done very, very well. They are great kids, very well behaved, don't get into much. I stop working to check on them/give them some attention every hour or so while I work (5 hours each afternoon or so) and they get all my attention in the morning and at night. It has worked out beautifully for us.
Yeah, our choc. lab does that from time to time - makes it interesting!- nm

full-time in office/ part-time at home
I currently work full-time in a physician's office and have started part-time online. My hope is to eventually go full-time online; however that will be done the road for a single mom with a son in college. My suggestion would be try to type part-time for a MTSO and see how that goes i.e work and money with a decision down the road for ultimately being home all the time. A guaranteed paycheck is always a necessity for me. Hope this helps.

I work a full time and a part time, but not sure about 2 full-time...
My hubbie is disabled and I am the only one in my family working also, so I fully understand. You will not have a day off at all working 2 full-time as that is going to be the only way you will get in all your hours. I work one job in the mornings from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. and the other from 5 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. and do have off one day a week, but if I had to get in the extra 15 hours to make the other job full-time I am not sure how I would do that other than lose my only day off. Also, make sure you have your account specifics in front of you at all times because you will get yourself confused as to who is what and having notes will help in that area. Good luck to you, as it is possible, but forget about your house being clean, having any social life, etc. Feel free to email me personally if you just need someone to talk to, as I have been where you are and still am.

Does anyone know this one. I will see the patient back in 4 week's time, 4 weeks' time or 4 weeks time. Can't seem to find this in any of my reference books. Thanks in advance.

I never denied that I need a break from time to time, but
I was just stating how I took her post and the fact that I am worried about how my son will react since he is already getting quite upset. But, yes, any parent SHOULD be able to admit that they need a break from time to time...we're only human too! :)

and most do this during the wee hours of the morning when MOST people are sleeping and not using the internet. They need to upgrade their services and virus protection just like the home users. This is probably what occurred.
I recently requested time off for the first time...
(3 days off) and gave 2 weeks notice but was asked by my boss to give more notice next time. I thought 2 weeks was decent, but next time I will give at least 30 days.

It's crazy how these nationals or even smaller MTSOs think that we should be working set hours as an IC or even set lines as an IC. I totally stay away from those companies. Also, stay away from the ones that keep you on messenger (like Advanced in Oregon) or require you be logged in their platform, etc. or require a time clock as an IC. This is against the law. They cannot clock you and expect you to work certain hours under an IC status. They are getting away with it though, time and time again. It's a shame what we MTs put up with in this profession for pennies!!!

Depends on how part time the part time jobs are.

I have kept my child home with me half the year, but when pre-K started I began working full time. Helps to only have a main account and one backup account for the 2nd year now, so my abbreviation program rocks and rolls when I focus.

All I use is autocorrect and it takes me 60 to 70 minutes to do a 30 minute tape of straight chart notes and about 475 to 550 lines on my internal medicine account. On my surgeons with a lot of consults/letters it can take me 90 minutes but I get over 1000 lines. If it were to take me 4:1 I think I would quit.
time off MQ SE
I never had a problem with anybody being nasty to me about it, but I rarely request time off. When I do need time off, I just send in an email and state I won't be working my shift today. period. I don't phrase it as a question, I make a statement. I think that is a major benefit to being an SE.

It seems worse when I get to the bottom of the report-- sometimes I can almost type a whole sentence and it "hangs up" on the screen and prints out all at once. Bring back MedRite-- no problems with it-- sigh!
We had the best time (sm)
on the night staff in the early 90s and made a very good living. We went out for nice dinners and could afford them, had office parties and made the best of having to work for a living! There were times I spent the whole day wandering the streets of the city before I went to work at night. We were paid overtime, had raises twice a year and goodies in the office. We used to bring in the best coffee and share it. We were treated like humans.
The late 90s is when the pay started going down and it seemed like worse jobs for less money. I bet they miss us!
