Thanks all - you've been very helpful

Thx so much for your helpful FB! Here's what I've done...sm
I just started a new job and things are a little tight right now so I thought I'd just download something from Dell and put it on my charge. The best I could find there was Webroot Internet Securities. I did download the 14 day trial offer first. Would anyone who has tried Webroot like to share the good, bad, or ugly??? THANKS!
It was helpful for me, Sheesh. I've done the right thing and
I sincerely hope that others will as well.

It doesn't matter whether or not we agree but the language used and the intent demonstrated. That is what I was talking about.

I fully realize that there will be people who cannot leave a good thing alone. I feel sorry for those individuals. They apparently have no peace, no satisfaction, and no friendliness in their lives. They only know how to destroy, or to attempt to.

I'm going to demonstrate what I want back from others - positivity, compassion, forgiveness, tolerance - whether or not I receive that from you or anyone else. If you do not return to me the same as I have offered, then that is between you and your own soul. :)

I appreciate your point of view; I just don't share it.

I hope everyone has a good evening tonight and a productive day tomorrow! I can't believe summer is almost over with and school starts back soon. Rather funny to me, my son has griped all summer about nothing to do (despite a part-time job, camping trips, Disneyland trip, youth events, etc.) and now that school is coming back around he feels "stressed" because there's not enough time to do all he wants to do! Hahahaha
I've found it helps soothe the mania and keep me

I use EXText with my current job and I've used at a couple of other jobs I've had. I've ne

used DocQscribe, but I have used Meditech, Cerner, Vianeta, the Precyse platform (I can't remember the name), Dolbey, and  Lanier platform I think was called Cequence (?).

Out of all the different platforms I have typed on, I have liked EXText the best.  In my opinion, it's very user friendly, easy to learn, and I really like ESP which is the built in abbreviation expander.  Plus it is very easy to create your own normals which I love.  My fingers literally never leave the keyboard because there are macro keys for everything.  You can use your mouse if you prefer or learn the function macros.  I love it.  I think I'm more productive on EXText than with any other platform.

was that helpful? sm
what was the point in going off like that? She simply asked a question.  It's been a long week, huh?
Helpful QA
One of my QA people is very personable. She signs her name and adds helpful tips which have helped a lot. When I get snappy comments unsigned, I know its the other QA. Know your business. Don't overdo the punctuation. Concentrate on the medical report and its content. Nothing makes me madder than someone correcting what I know is right, especially if it is medical content that I know to be right.  I've gotten QA back so picky that I didn't even want to start work on my shift because they were SOOOOO picky, example breast-feed changed to breast feed and ; where a , works as good, etc. and send examples if you know someone is gonna need them! Bottom line to me... friendly, patient and helpful.. IMO
Helpful
Just wanted to say, as a newbie, how wonderful this site is. It is really helpful and thanks to the person who gave me the tip on how to break into the entry level MT position.
hopefully somewhat helpful
I work full time for a company in NJ, so I cannot answer as an MTSO. I live in Santa Clara, CA, which is in the South Bay and I notice ads for MTs will offer $19-$20 an hour whereas in the Sacramento area I have seen ads where they are only paying around $14.
This is VERY helpful!

This is also very interesting...Gives me a lot to think about! THANKS A MILLION!

You all have been so helpful!!

Thank you so much.  I have learned a lot from all of you, and I have plenty of ideas to try out.  I also got some great tips about the nickel allergy, which is wonderful as well.  That one has been around for a long time.

I will be making an appointment to take him to see a dermatologist, but in the mean time, I will be trying out some of these things and see what happens.

THANKS TO YOU ALL

Very Helpful
I believe I was one of the ones you helped. Thank you very much for the general information you gave me. I really appreciate it.
Thanks to both of you. Very helpful. (nm)

Thank you all! Very helpful. It seems there are sm
downsides to being paid by line and by minute. I am hoping I do better paid by the minute, only time will tell though.
What I think would be helpful is
taking some classes in terminology. Like I said, I thought it would be a breeze. Yeh, right. What kind of work are you going to be doing, all 4s or speciality group? How many doctors will you be working for. Sometimes, and I am sure other MTs will agree on this, your English speaking doctors are about as bad as your ESL physicians. How fast do you type? Working for an agency, they can throw you (perhaps) into a group of dictators different each day, the money dwindles if you don’t know them. What kind of training will you get with the agency? I was just saying it is a lot of money to invest in and it is not that easy. A lot of the people on this chat board talk about possibly finding something else to do. I also had terminology class but then having that and actually typing the reports are a whole lot different. I consider the operative notes the easiest by the way, they are my favorite but I also have to type other things as well. Do you have any experience with listing lab reports, x-ray, medication dosages- would you be able to question and look up if you thought a dictator said 500 mg of Ativan when maybe it should be 5 that was typed. You need some knowledge about a variety of things in transcribing because I, and probably others, have to meet a strict accountability for our work - mine is 98% accuracy, not just type and make the money.
Very helpful, thank you all very much....but.....

I need very wide margins for the header, but if I change the margins for the body of the letter, it also changes the header.  How can you get separate margins for the header and the body of the letter?

Thanks again!

That's helpful, thank you...sm..

I didn't know the search key would pull up the desktop search.  Did you know Microsoft has a free update for their desktop search function?  It's nicer than the original, way faster with more features.  Not as many features as some others but it's fast and you can pull it up with one click, even though it pulls up the whole program instead of just the document.

Thanks so much! VERY helpful!
Thanks for taking the time to post these. Looks they will be very helpful as I am just beginning to do some oncology transcription. Thanks again!
Thanks so much...most helpful

thanks for being helpful
some people dont like to give leads to others for fear of having competition, so it is really nice of you to offer up these websites. I did a search for MT jobs and random sites will come up, and i NEVER know what is legit or not you know.

Thank you
thank you both, very helpful ;)
;)
This is very helpful...
Thank you again - I'm going to experiment with all of it. It's good to know there may be hope for me and those bills yet!! :o)

OJ is what helps me
I think it is the sugar in the juice because no one tells you that smoking digests food quicker (read that somewhere) so it will take longer for a person who stopped smoking to feel better after eating... So when I feel low I drink some juice... hope this helps
Thank you so much - yes that helps! nm

If this helps,
My Stedman's spell check accepts antiinflammatory.  I read somewhere that we are we are not supposed to hyphenate unless the nonhyphenated word form is another separate word.  I do not remember the examples they gave, but it did make sense.
What helps me...

Yes, that helps, thanks.

Not sure if this helps

Perhaps they gave you a generic contract or info sheet, you need to ask if you are to print and return or send back and they print.  Also call in services charge per minute of dictation anywhere from 0.18 to 0.10 per minute of dictation.  So more than how many lines, you need to know minute as if they are stuttering a lot or going through a chart and not dictating you will be charged for the minutes that they use whether dictating or not.  What city/state are you in, will you be contracting out, and again find out if you have to print or they print.  Sometimes the contracts that they send our are generic and do not specify which services you will be providing and you need to clarify that.   So you need to ask a few more questions, also see if they deduct or penalize if you do not meet your TAT.   But without know the above, to me it would be like throwing a dart at a dart board trying to make a bullseye.

Thanks, that helps!!

This helps me........sm
I get up and wrap my arms around myself in a big bear hug as tight as I can to stretch out the back muscles. I bend over and let my arms dangle until my fingers eventually touch the ground, if you're one like me who cannot flat palm the floor with straight legs (my MIL at 70 could!). This really stretches out everything. I get a lot of relief in the neck by doing chin tucks to the chest and relaxing there for a couple of minutes.

This is a trick a PT told me...while sitting in a chair with your legs a foot or so apart, bend over with your arms inside the leg area and grab for the floor...this really stretches out the upper back.

I know what you mean though -my muscles will burn in my arms and shoot pains through to my hands. Hope this helps!
That helps a lot.
Thank you so much.
yes it helps a lot --

but do you plug Lanier into a phone line? I am not familiar with Lanier.

Not that it helps but...
Not sure if this is being used in word? However and FYI for those who might need it, if you type LEE and it expands, do ALT E and enter, which is for unedit and it will return to the abbreviated text.
yes, that helps

That seems like it would be very time consuming!  I'm using a pedal now and can't imagine controlling my dictations without it.  Doesn't that take away from a lot of typing time?

what helps me
Black-out drapes purchased at K-mart and a black sleep mask ($3 from a catalog) have been a tremendous help in getting/staying asleep when you have to sleep during the day.
Hopefully this helps! (sm)
Turn on or off automatic bulleted or numbered lists:

On the Tools menu, click AutoCorrect Options, and then click the AutoFormat As You Type tab.
Under Apply as you type, select or clear the Automatic bulleted lists or Automatic numbered lists check box.

This is a VA account? The VA pretty much expects contractors to pay their workers. If you're not working for this woman any longer, you might try complaining to the facility that you have not been paid. Try calling purchasing and contracting, as well as the chief of HIM. You can get the main phone numbers on the VA website--just Google it.
