You can just put your name out there to practices. You don't want to spend a lot of money on advertising just yet without at least one client. Word of mouth will help as well. Why not just send out a brochure locally. List your credentials. You can be a little creative, but this will only cost printing and stamps and a little time on your part creating the brochure.
As far as a safe way to having voice files sent and being able to send completed reports, try www.vancedigital.com. It's only like $10.00 a month and goes up from there depending on how much space you need. The actual FTP site is called HIPPO, and I've worked with it and it's user friendly.
If I were you, I would provide a handheld to the physicians because you can write them off as part of your business expenses. They are not cheap though.
Another idea would be to have a handheld to give and do a "try before you buy" kind of thing where you give them the handheld, ask them to try it out and I'll bet they stay.
I am also subcontracting and have only 2 accounts for myself, but they won't go digital (tapes), so I had planned to send out some brochures in the fall when the kids go back to school. I have an idea of what it takes to go digital, but need just one client to try it out. As long as you are professional and flexible, you can make it work!!! Good luck!
