well i am glad that they treat you that posted better
Odd it must have just been me cause I was with them two different times two years apart and both times the same crap! I am glad to see that they are treating some people nicer than myself! I really don't know what the deal is there, but I know I didn't get much positive feedback or help when I asked for help! Yes, the pay was not so hot either I agree with the other poster on that part. I have two years of transcription experience, but this gal did expect perfection from me on day one I can see maybe day 3 but not day one. As I said I am just speaking my experience and if anyone else has had similar to myself please don't hesitate to speak up! Thanks! Have a great weekend all!
Glad to see MT Week recognized here. My company did nothing this year. We have always sm
received a nice gift in the mail in the past.  I'm not saying I expect an expensive gift or anything, but a thank you of some sort would have been nice.  I waited to post this, holding hope that maybe they were late like last year in sending stuff out, but I have pretty much given up now.  Thanks MT Stars!!
Glad to see someone post this. sm

A while ago we were told to put this on the recipe board which I found totally bogus. There have been so many "redirects" on this board that, if you really look at it, everything could be redirected.

Oh, and boiled ham dinner tonight. Eeeeew. I hate it, hubby and kids love it. I made myself a tuna melt.

I'm so glad to read your post. I was
surprised that most of the people who posted didn't even think it was a big deal.  To put Cubby, a tame bear, in a cage where he was helpless and shoot him with a bow and arrow and watch him die is horrible and pathetic.  Kinda like our Vice President being driven out to shoot little birds that were released from the back of a pickup truck so he could shoot them before they barely got off the ground.  What kind of people are these???  I know some people like to hunt, but this isn't hunting.  There is no sport to it.  Ugh.  It makes me absolutely sick!!
glad to see your pilot post
I read an article in New York magazine about this shortly after the guy ditched the plane in the Hudson. A comment made by one of the pilots interviewed was that pilots used to be one step below astronauts and are now one step above busdrivers, which really rings true. I was aware of lots of changes in the airline industry, just did not realize the pilot situation. When I think about my recent cuts in pay, I now think of them, with all that responsibility, and my situation somehow seems easier to take.
Glad you liked the post, I saw Sylvia Browne
here in Atlanta last year and she is due back next month again. She really makes a lot of sense when you listen and most of her show you are listening to her talk. Very intelligent lady, very insightful. I took her advice about the toxic relationships one can have around them regarding a son. I am far too past the age to let anyone, and I underscore that anyone, talk down to me, disrespect me, abuse me, disparage me. I say what I want because I tell the truth and find that is a good way to live. You say the people speaking to you are related to you. They, most of all, should be giving you a boost rather than saying hurtful things to you. You say you have her books. Read them carefully. I have even seen her on Montel say exactly the same thing she said in her show about toxic people. My son, his wife and their children live less than 30 minutes from me but I do not call, do not go that way, am so much happier now. I did everything I could for them and finally just gave up and threw in the towel. They know where I live, my phone # and if they want to, they can contact me- otherwise I am just a happy clam here in my home. Good luck and get that chin up!!
Sorry, that is not uncommon at this time of year. Post SM
office employees get greedy.
I had a doc say that the patient is a 95-year-old post menopausal woman..

Fine. Be sure to post back here in a year and tell me about her at-home job. nm

A couple of times a year the suits post as
an MT.  I used to work for SS and they were so bad that I can't imagine them fixing all the problems in my lifetime.
Times change..including this policy about who is able to post. About a year ago,
this board started letting everyone post job openings, at least to what I can remember. I know at one point if they were India-based/affiliated etc..then they could not advertise but since anymore it is so rampant with companies being associated with India, they started letting them post. I could be wrong but this is what I recall.
Amen.... Gravity is definitely working on my 45-year-old, post breastfeeding mammaries.

If they treat everyone that way

Treat others like you

There has been a lot of discussion on this board lately about how rude and impolite some of the posters are. What we are seeing here is also what is going on in our society. It is not something that is happening only in the MT world. This is something that has been taking place in our society for years, slowly and gradually taking hold of a large number of people who find it more convenient to let their frustrations out on others than fix their own lives. Have you ever tried approaching a cashier with a smile on your face and another with a grouchy look on your face? Then you know that the one you approached with a smile on your face was friendly and polite whereas the other one wasn't. Whenever you approach others with a smile on your face you will receive that smile back, even on a message board. I ask myself if those who lash out at others on a message board do so to their family members. If so, what kind of life are you living? Or are you the one on the receiving end and come here to pass that on to the posters on the boards? What kind of life are you living? Don't you all think that living in peace and harmony will contribute to your overall well-being?

What do those who are rude and impolite to others gain? Do you really feel better afterward? Do you want others to treat you the same way? It is like a contagious disease, and it seems to be more common to lash out than to be nice as if it hurts to be nice. You should be grateful that we live in a country in which we still can practice freedom of speech, at least to a certain extent.

Hiding behind anonymity while being rude and impolite is a cowardly thing to do. Take responsibility for your actions. Better yet, think next time before you lash out at someone seeking advice and remember when you started your first job. Did you seek and receive advice? Did someone give you a tip or spend time with you to help you understand the ins and outs of a job? Or have you never received help from anyone in your whole life? We all have received some type of support, help, and/or advice that helped us get back on track or be successful. Why not pass that positive experience tenfold or thousandfold back to others?

It is really very simple - treat others like you want others to treat you! Do this in all areas of your life not just in the MT world, and you will not only be a happier person but you will also make others happy. Give it a try - I promise it will not even hurt!!

Trick or treat
Since we have a Doberman, I doubt it will be a problem.
You have to treat us like humans
Im a breathing, walking, transcribing and talking human. may it be $20 or $200 per hour, you dont talk to us that way. I would declare war with you and your offer whatever it is.
That's how I would decide also. Treat others the way you
would want to be treated.
Does DTS America treat their people well?

I was thinking of testing with DTS America in Nashville and just wondering what anyone knew about them.

Thanks

We teach people how to treat us - I would not put up with this.
It seems this arrangement no longer works with your schedule. If they say they need the work now and you cannot do that any longer then you need to let them know why. Best of luck to you.
if doctors would only treat MTs like machines !!

this kills me, from the MT news board, a neurologist speaking:

What are the pitfalls? “Mumbling,” says Dr. Block, “that’s the main problem. Doctors are used to dictating in a low, monotone mumble, as fast as they can. A person might be able to handle it by going back and listening to the recording again and again. But for voice recognition, doctors need to speak in a normal, conversational tone of voice, just like we are doing right now. Speak normally, and Dragon has no problem, it works very well. It’s really quite simple.”

yes PLEASE, go ahead and treat me like a machine -- and that TAT would be a whole lot better!!!! and yes doc, you would save money too.....

You show people how to treat you. We don't

do gifts at my house.  There isn't a single thing I need that I don't already have.  I got breakfast in bed (omelet, bacon, and French toast).  Lunch and dinner was cooked for me and the dishes done, laundry was done, the den picked up.  My car was detailed by my children and my children also spread a pile of mulch for me.  They would have had to spread the mulch anyway, but it would have taken days, they did it in about 1/2 day.   I also received cards.   The kids didn't fight, I didn't get anything that I wouldn't use anyway, and it was just a very nice day.

I always make a big deal out of birthdays and holidays for my family and they know what I want from them.

do your present laundry first and then treat yourself--sm
for a job *well done* by buying new clothes. That way you get both. just a suggestion.
That's used to treat fungus. Chickenpox is a virus, but thank you anyway!

I wouldnt go get him. Just treat him tonight even if he doesnt have it
That may keep him from getting it. Head lice is a nuisance but not hard to get rid of. I wouldnt sweat it. You should change their sheets, etc...
How could they NOT treat her? I mean, how on earth could the docs not 'touch her'?
Doesn't the physician on duty have an obligation to treat the patient? It'd be a greater lawsuit potential if they refused to treat her and she worsened or died. That doesn't make sense that they could chose not to treat her. It probably is stated as a complication but those can't really hold up in court. The possible complications list practically anything that could happen, including death, but that doesn't mean that if a person is injured or dies from surgery that the physician is absolved of any wrongdoing if they messed it up. I hope and pray she recovers fully.
This young person deserves a treat.
Great story.  Thanks for sharing.
And you're willing to just accept that? Ever had your identity stolen? I have. It's no treat.
the police have made a report but whoopee, that's not getting my credit back on track.  Talk about stress and grief.  No one ever cares until it happens to them.  What a shame.

I think someone has told you some old wives tale about this. I went through this with my kids' school in the city. It was horrible. There are sprays out there and the doctor told us that they die within being off the body in 12 to 24 hours.

Since moving to the county, my kids have not had to deal with it.

If you treat when they are not there, they dont get resistent becuase they are not there to get resistent to it.
Your job is to type what the doc says, not diagnose the patient and decide how to treat them.

Kind of arrogant to put your 9 months to one year education (estimated length of an MT program) up against a doctors 10 years of education, dontcha think?

He may be an incompetent boob, but that's not for you or me to decide. It's up to the patient or their family members to decide to get a second opinion.

"Sorry, Mrs. Pheebles, but we can't treat your heart attack..."
"It seems the Conficker worm just ate your medical records."
I hate when companies treat us like we're working for pin money

Am I supposed to be happy when a company only gives me 200 or 300 lines a day when they promise you a certain amount (that is higher than that)? How would the company employees (not us lowly transcriptionists) feel if the company told them that they were only getting paid 100 dollars this pay period, that there wasn't enough work. Not enough to pay bills and keep food on the table, just pin money.

Sheesh.

Yikes! I just took five minutes to give my doggie some love and a treat! What a crazy world!

Mine are in year-round thank goodness! They've started their new year 2 months ago.

Not only did I finally receive the proper training, but the woman on the advisory board hired and mentored me. I also joined the local AAMT and networked. Good luck. I know how frustrating it can be. A community college will have a good program to include medical language, MT courses taught by local MTSOs, business English, anatomy and physiology, pathophysiology, etc.
Should just post all their open positions in one post and only be allowed to post one of those a day

I think he makes $700,000.00 a year, and if they ask him to walk before his first year MQ has...sm

to pay him a cool 1 million dollars.  You can check this out at the Medquist website.   I think the CFO makes $350,000 a year, and the head of IT makes $250.000 a year.

P.S.  This does not include the perks, like expense account, car allowance, sign-on bonus, etc.

Our 16 year old son has been working for a year now to pay for his truck.
He's learning how to sand and do body work and how the engine and transmission go together. My parents didn't buy cars for my siblings and I either. I had a 20+ year old beater car until I could afford to move up to a a newer one.

I see all the nice new cars parked in the high school parking lot every day. It's nice that so many disrespectful punk kids get handed something nicer to drive than what all the teachers drive. Oh, well. Honestly, I think most of them borrow Mommy or Daddy's car or are the child of a doctor who can afford to hand them everything.

Hopefully, my kids will take better care of their cars because they bought and built them on their own. You're not going to grow up to be responsible if you don't work hard for something and expect Mommy and Daddy to bail you out all the time.

Oh, my Dad lectured us on even allowing our child to have a vehicle because Dad didn't have one until after he had worked his way through college, lettered on the football team, got straight As, lettered on the baseball team, yadda yadda. He either walked or hitched a ride. Yeah, well, times were different back then, Daddy-O. LOL At least my kid has the opportunity to work and earn his own car.
