Teasers in school. They just do it because they have no life, no self-esteem and they just try and feed off the misery of others or try to make themselves look better than everyone else.
It's very sad and so pathetic, but it carries on with these types through what is supposed to be adulthood.

these companies do? I'm really curious because I've been experiencing some really strange things going on lately, like jobs suddenly disappearing when almost completed, no work when others on my account have work, etc.

One thing I do to get around this, is to create a macro and then link the ShortHand command to the macro. It works for me, but I do the same five clients every day and only have about 20 or 30 macros/Shorthand commands that work like this. This may not work well for you if you have lots of formats and hundreds of docs.
QA discrepancy... told 2 different things by 2 different people. How would you handle this?
I am a brand new employee, so don't feel comfortable in this situation.

Me, too. I told my kids that since they're not in school and I'm working two jobs
just to try to keep the utilities on, they get to do chores. Don't even get me started on holiday stress. My extended family sent me gift cards, so I'm using those to buy for the kids. I even offered to pay them $5 an hour for cleaning so they'd have Christmas money. Instead, what are they doing? Watching TV in their pajamas still. That's OK. I'm about to go unplug all the electronics in the house and give them a big chore list with NO pay.
I think I used Maalox when my kids were small. Poor things, both youngest boys had them everywhere
It was 100 degrees out that year. They spent a week in the house in the tub with Aveeno and more Benadryl than I think they had in their entire lives.
Or discpline time! My kids would be very sorry if they threw things at me or in the house. Two hours
is not too long for them to give you some space. That's really sad for you, but maybe try to rein them in. Can't hurt, right?

I dunno much about this neither -- I just do what I'm told. :/ I use a VPN connection. when I want to get tech help from the online system, I have to have my wireless laptop hard wired to be connected. so I was told. so that's what I do. it seems that might be a clue in the puzzle, but I can't take it any further. :)

I have no problem with people who do it for less - they know what their work is worth, and clients have come to agree with me and want to come back. It cost them!

2, since I have to proof-read everything before sending out, and 1 space makes it harder to read, I put 2 for my own ease of editing, in addition to it just looking better and more professional with 2.

that you took the clothes you couldn't use to Goodwill and that your other friend bought them at Goodwill. Nothing she could do about that one!!! She'd have to tell Goodwill not to sell stuff to her and you know that wouldn't fly.
You did the right thing, though, and I probably would've done the same. This way you can continue to be friends with both without getting in the middle of things or causing hard feelings. :)

I've been told most errors are connection sm
related and media player related. This is for Windows XP. Remove all media players except the Windows media player. Wordclient conflicts with other media players. Also remove any of those browser toolbars like Yahoo. Go into your Control Panel Add or Remove Programs to find them and remove them through the control panel. Then, go to start-run-msconfig and click on the tab marked startup. Uncheck all the boxes except for your virus protection and click okay then restart. I had to do that to get rid of the errors and now I go in once a week to make sure the settings stay. I seldom have a problem now, maybe once or twice a week, not 10 times a day like I did before.
I've told about 100 people total. THEY DON'T

Honestly, no I would not do it. I've been home with my kids
for 17 years and would not change a thing. Check local hospitals in your area, maybe they have at-home MTs. I do whatever it took to be able to stay home. This is just me though, others may feel differently.
No expander, I've just been using the autotext for a lot of things because
in my opinion the 'stupid' errors I make are transposition of a letter in words or leaving off/adding a letter at the end of a word. Like "does" vs "dose" or along vs alone. When I go back to read over, its like my brain is not really "seeing" what's there....because it already knows what I'm 'mean" for it to say, if that makes any sense.
To be truthful, none of it makes sense to me becasue like I said its only a few reports out of many that I do in a day...so you figure, If I can do majority of them without the stupid errors, why not all.

I've been home working with my kids for 10 years now sm
I worked outside of the house for one year after my first boy was born. I hated leaving him. So I was home working by the time he was a year old. I really enjoyed it. 10 years later, I'm still working at home, and have a 6 y/o boy too. Both my kids are in school. I'm so thankful to be home so that I can get them off the bus, attend parties at school, go on field trips with them. I can take care of house chores and keep and eye on my three dogs. The only thing is sometimes I miss being around people, being able to leave my work at my job (at home it's here all the time). My hubby works midnights, so he's home during the day too, but sleeps. Sometimes I feel like I have no "me time". After my boys get a little older, I may get out of the house to work. Sometimes I would like to actually change my career to sometime more hands on with patients. I love the medical field, I've been doing transcription for about 14 years. Another plus for working at home with kids is if they are sick, you don't have to call out of work. You can do your job and take care of your kids. You don't have to look your best either, on those days or any days. I'm guilty for sitting here in my PJs a lot, not having any makeup on or hair fixed.

correct." This is where the problem is. Do you know that some of the most stubborn, difficult, argumentative, inflexible MTs I have ever met in the course of my career are the ones who parrot that particular sentence?
What was done or has been done for 30 years is not necessarily the correct way now. Language has changed. With the advent of VR, the way we transcribe is now more of a verbatim way than ever.
These 30-year MTs are still adding 's on to Down syndrome, still typing out the word "centimeter" even though it is no longer accepted as anything but line-padding....get my drift?

I've also been known to throw a party for the littlest things...sm
1. Son's 1st soccer game.
2. 1/2 parties. You know. My son is turning 4-1/2, so come and join us for a party!
3. Husband's coming home party (he was only gone for a month).
4. Come and meet my mom party (she lives in another state).
5. Of course ALL the big parties: Baby showers, (never done a wedding shower), graduations, retirements.
6. Hunting parties. If your husband hunts, come on over and join us for lunch with the kids so we can talk about how lonely it is during deer season.
So, any major occasion is a big occasion....You don't even want to know what Christmas is like over here.
I've heard of things like the "boosteroo" mentioned above ... however...
as far as I can that works only with headsets ... I have the same problem and did some googling and as far as I can tell "powered speakers" may be the simplest answer ... they run about $50 a pair and have a ??woofer -- anyway it's a box that's plugged in to power and to the computer sound output --- the speakers then come off that.
Target (and probably everyone else) carries these. I suspect teens and gamers and music mixers "need" these to "fill the room with sound"... Amazon has some computer speakers that are over $300)
I have terrible TMJ and cannot wear my headset all the time ... the sudden loud noises (like beepers brought up to chest level) just kill my ears.

If you read the whole thread and all my comments, I said that MTing is a big career choice for women in their childbearing years when they want to work at home. We ALL know that, though some of us want to refuse that reality. It always has been the #1 career choice for women who want to work and be home with their kids. Period. Of course, there are a lot of other women who choose the career or fall into it for different reasons. Its like the #1 job new moms or wanna-be moms look into. You all sure blast them when they post on here with a few innocent Qs on how to get into the industry. You don't have kids by choice - good for you! You and I have crossed paths many, many times before. Its a great choice for you, and I totally respect it. At least you aren't having kids and dumping them in day care centers! That I just do NOT get, and never will, especially when you could have them home with you - at least the choice is there. And as for moms not being able to control their kids, you will NEVER be able to control them when you just ship them out. No one ever seems to post an argument on that one. Yeah, I couldn't control little Johnny and Sara. They never wanted to just entertain themselves, or play with each other. All they did was fight and scream and demand MY attention, so...off they went to day care, and now its SO much better when they're home. They get along beautifully now, and just LOVE each other, and no more fighting...Nope, the only peace is the 8, or 10, or 12 hours a day that they are absent from their home. Sooo sad. And the poor day care workers and teachers - they get to deal with the disastrous kids whose own mothers can't stand them underfoot, but at least they get paid $$ for it!! Maybe I'm in the wrong profession.

It's MTs like you, not I, that have caused the pay rates to decline. MTs like you who will accept whatever abuse they companies hand out, accept being cheated, and accept losing jobs to India.

They're gone all day, it wears them out, and so I shovel dinner in their mouths and off to bed! You can try to paint it any way you want, but YOU SAID IT. Again, I only hope your kids never hear you speak that way or write that way. Shame on you. Why have kids at all? When you have two young kids, 11 months apart, (like I stated they are now 4 and 5) and have been doing this since they were born with no help from their father and no family around, YES, the kids get neglected. Part time might work but living on one salary, part time, is not an option. How can you possible tell me that anyone with two young kids can stay at home and work a full-time, 8-hour shift, and still give their kids the attention they NEED. I dont care how good you are at multitasking and how great your organizational skills are. It is a very difficult thing to do. And I am offended by your post making it sound as if it is easy to do.
I do agree that it can depend on how well your kids behave and how well they are able to play on their own. But my kids were not able to play well on their own. They needed constant attention.
So please take the time to realize that there are people out there in different situations than your own.
Reading our posts should help you to understand that everyone has a different situation. I believe everyone should have the right to shares their experiences as it might benefit the original poster in her questions and concerns.
I dont think anyone should be bashed for taking the time out to write about their experiences. I dont usually come on here to argue but you really ticked me off with your post. And try reading the post correctly. I said next time around I would have put them in day care. What I DID do with them was set them up to an activity like art or put on a movie for them. Geez.

I don't have kids, but my Mom was from the "old school," and still had everyone, kids inclu
call her by her first name. The little neighbor girl next door from the time she could speak called her Aggie (my mom's first name), and they were great buddies until the day my mom pased away.
I don't think there really is much in a name, but more in the respect you are given and the way you are treated. Personally, I kind of cringe inside when someone calls me Ms. Anything or God forbid, "maam" (makes me feel like Methuselah!) ... I'm always just plain Merrie. :-)
But, as someone pointed out, to each his own. If you want to be addressed a certain way, you have that right, and people should respect that. I'm glad you corrected the child ... hope it "sticks."

Please do not simply give up, kids or no kids!
Talk with a professional. This can be worked through if he really puts forth the effort and you participate. The right counseling can truly make your marriage even better than it was before, if BOTH parties are willing to be honest. Give it a try. Nothing to lose at this point and everything to gain!
