in midwest probably 11-12 is going rate BUT
since theyare in a bind and ESL, I would go for .13 gross lines forstandard 65 char line length. Then be sure to keep them happy and you will be all right.

I agree with the moderator and the thing that bothers me is that some take up so much of some of the boards, that they seem to "overcome" and this is why in desperation, some say, "Please help me on".....xyz board because they know the board they should be posting on has only one or two posters. Albeit, these posters are helpful also, but don't you think it would be wise to allow only a certain number of posts per day on certain boards to allow someone else to get a word in edgewise? Then there would not be so many "lockouts" and posts on the main board. I was in a situation that was of importance to my future business and I did ask for help on a board which seemed to have only one or two posters lately, and I was shut down. This is not a punitive message, just a suggestion that sometimes we are desperate to be helped. This board is an excellent source of communication and I would hate to see anything negative happen here. Just a suggestion. Carry on the good work!

10:17 at night. dark, about 63 degrees, no rain, and pleasant. love it here. Been on the SE coast...would never do it again unless forced to. Y'all can keep yur hurricanes! Been there, did that with Isabel...never again!. Love the magnolias, jasmine, dogwood, and pulled pork sandwiches though, not to mention the southern accents...just cannot handle the weather there.
Midwest are cpl
Is anyone out there from the midwest that can tell me the going cpl rate in Illinois area (NOT CHICAGO). I am starting my own MT business and I don't want my pricing to be too high or too low. I plan on using 65-character line, with spaces, free corrections, pick-up, and delivery. Any suggestion would be helpful.

guess we have tornadoes but we don't get this much warning and certainly can't save our homes, etc.
I am so upset by so many of these storms this year. I feel so badly for these people. To lose everything like that. There is going to be a lot of depression in children and adults I am afraid.
I have a friend who will not move from Florida though she lived in Indiana most of her life. Her daughters worry about her down there alone.

Radiology Editor wage for midwest
Although I am not a Radiology Editor, I am a Radiology Transcription Supervisor in the midwest (teaching hospital). I think QA/Editor positions should pay more, or at least the same as MT positions. I think $20-$22/hour is more in line with the job requirements.
Two of them are metro one Midwest and one East Coast so....
that means many, many physicians, probably hard to get used to them, probably teaching hospital, so many residents? Many ESL's??? Probably huh? Hmmmm. Scary!

Charge him an hourly rate. The current rate is
between $15-21/hr. according to your location. If he had to use an independent secretarial service, he would be charged much more. You can look in the Yellow Pages in your area under Secretarial Service and ask them what they charge, then charge accordingly knowing you can back it up.
ME rate 80% of baseline MT rate
are you happy with the 20% cut to do ME work or are you going to just do MT work (which will be those dictators that ASR can't do) at your baseline rate?

I work at home for a hospital account that I make .11 cpl on 60-character line. I also do IC work for a clinic where I make .14 cpl. I am from Missouri.

cherrypicking co-worker issue (meant to post it on this board instead of MQ board) sm...
I need opinions please...I work on a very small account with just a handful of ladies. Because of the nature of the software (trying not to get too specific here) we can see who is working online and what reports they are working on in real-time...
We have one cherrypicker on the account. Instead of using FIFO method, she retrieves the reports by author ID - usually picking the better dictators of course. She knows I busted her and she did admit to it in on our work e-mail (not too bright) which I am saving just in case she gets out of hand - so far I'm still able to make money since really most of the dictators aren't bad.
But every night it's starting to wear on me since she's screwing up turnaround time. I don't really want to cause a big uproar being that it is such a small account and I need to work with her almost every night usually one on one.
What would you all do? I want to handle this as delicate and professional as possible because we can't really afford to lose anyone on this account. In other words, I refuse to stoop to her level by cherrypicking right back.
My boss has asked me several times why so-and-so does so much more than I do...I just bite my lip at that point but one of these days I think I might explode and just open up a can of worms....
