Teething

My pediatrician suggests a clean chicken bone to bite down on or a clean corn cob to "scratch" the gums with. The washcloth is the same principle. It's the texture that gives them some relief as much as the coolness.

teething
I have tried, and liked, using teething tablets. The brand I have are Hyland's. I got them at Eckerd Drug Store. They are real small little pills and you put them under their tongue. They dissolve quickly, so you don't have to worry about them choking on them. They numb the mouth and it seems to last a little longer than Oragel. I have used these for both of my kids with good results.

Also, you can rub the Tylenol directly on the gums too. This seems to help as well.

Good luck. I can relate, my 11-month-old is going through the same thing right now.

Take care

I'm thinking he might have something else going on besides teething especially if since the...
the fever keeps creeping back up between the Motrin and Tylenol doses.
Teething fever
My son used to get ear infections with teething. I'm not sure why, but maybe it had something to do with the swelling in his facial area blocking drainage. It also made for confusion if he tugged or held that area. It all looked the same.
Anyone's kids had really high fevers when teething? - sm
My son, who will be 2 next week, has had a high fever off and on the last three days. He has his last two teeth coming in, and he also got sick a couple weeks ago while we were on vacation and two teeth were coming in at that time. That lasted about two days, but he didn't have a high fever, just a low grade fever and throwing up. I've been giving him Tylenol and Motrin to keep the fever at bay, but it seems to start to creep back up before four hours has gone by when I can give him some more medicine. He didn't have any problems with his other teeth coming in, and it looks like the new ones have already broken through. Any insight is appreciated!
Troubles with Teething - Baby, Baby, Baby
Hi. My little guy is teething soooooo bad and I am wondering if any of you have some ideas that I can try, to hopefully make his life (and my life) a little easier to deal with? lol. We've tried Tylenol - with little pain relief, but much diarreha! We've tried Orajel - it seems to wear off too fast to make a difference. We've tried teething toys - help for only a few minutes (not nearly enough time for me to get any work done!). His appetite is normal, but his sleep schedule has been totally disrupted (as has mine). For the last 2 nights, he has woke up every couple hours. I would think he would be exhausted during the day....but he never goes to sleep. He is more fussy than usual and alittle more clingy, but overall he is very playful. His pediatrician gave me some suggestions (the above) that I have tried with little to no help, so I am desperate for new ideas! He is cutting multiple teeth right now (and just got a few new ones last week too) so he is in a lot of pain. Poor little guy. I appreciate all ideas that anyone has. Thanks in advance.  :)
