TOOOO MUCH!! Which is why it was discussed BEFORE we had kids! LOL

He is adament that the kids will have balance, structure and guides (apparnetly as long as his mother does not object)...fine by me as I was raised that way...however, trying to get a kid to face facts when they were told it was not their fault and they they should be in trouble.....well gee...that is not a recurring line I want used in the house and have yet to get him to admit he was wrong since she told him he was not!  Hence, huge morality issue he needs to learn for his life.   Talking to him all you get is "they say"  instead of I did, I was wrong, etc....she has it in his head he is right, they are wrong!!!!  Our actions are our doing whether good, bad or indifferent.

it was toooo funny!
I really enjoyed watching that show because Tommy Lee seems to be completely fried! Did you see those skinny legs?? I don't think I have ever seen such sticks on a man that age in my life! To be honest, the only reason that I started watching it was to see if it was a real reality show or a staged show to boost his popularity. What do you think???
Now that is just WAY toooo funny! sm
I had a funny with a doc that meant to say 30 second freeze/thaw cycle (plantar wart on great toe).  He said 30 MINUTE freeze/thaw cycle.  I not only wondered how much time this doc actually had in his schedule, I had visions of the poor patient's big toe falling off on the floor.
This is toooo funny!
I needed a good laugh. I gotta share this thought...mind if I pass this along? Wait, with my senility and all, I wonder if I will remember to share this :)
Toooo funny - you made my day!!!! nm

I think I would just send an email and say, I know it is a system problem, and I have been available as schedule and waiting around, but since I did have prior plans that cannnot be cancelled, I will have to sign off my regular time. Perhaps, I can add a few minutes on consecutive days to try and recoup. (this shows your commitment but HEY!!!

I didn't know it had been discussed either - sm
I don't visit here often.

I have two kids at home (12 and 13) and I roll in the morning and then start to slide at the half way point myself.

I start at 7:30 and take a break about 11:30 or so for lunch, then work some more.

If I am really dragging... I start day dreaming a bit. Okay, a lot. Means i have to go back and read everything more thoroughly but the typing part gets done a heckova lot faster.
Try a search as this has been discussed here before..

This is the big problem here and what we discussed
Never had famine, still don’t.I had 2 children and worked out of the home. How can you let yourself go downhill and just say I sit here trying to make it. That is why this profession has gone down because of no one wanting to leave the house to have a job, just want to sit at home because they have a child. What happens when no money at all, do you still just sit there trying to make it. I had more get up and go, I guess, than what I am reading on here now days. I always wanted to have things like a roof over my head, food for the family, nice vacations and I worked for it. No wonder the companies are offering less and less money to do this job because they have found people willing to wait on things. Before long the workers are going to have to pay the employers to have a job.
It sounds like you and BF have discussed a split up.

At least that's what I think I read below in one of the posts.

The economy of our country is in the toilet right now.  Very few things are secure.  Times are tough and fixing to get tougher.  If there is any way you can slow down, get your bearings, get into a halfway secure position --- your mental health will be better.

You need your mental health in order to be there for your kids.

Have you considered moving the "molehill" instead of the "mountain"?

If the BF has already been approached about the split, what is his position on HIM MOVING out and not you and the kids?  That would be lots less destructive for them.

Also, I wouldn't count on any PT transcription job anywhere right now.  Trust me on this.  This job type is so fluid right now - it's a circus.

I wouldn't move from square one until I got the FT at the hospital.  DON'T MOVE UNTIL YOU FIGURE OUT IF YOU CAN GET THAT JOB.  Then get into it, see what you have to work with.

Secondly, I would not leave myself dependent on the BF for anything but money, and then the courts can get it for you if he decides he doesn't like this, gets a new honey, or gets a "wild hair" and decides to leave the country.

Don't depend on him for babysitting, don't "be nice" and try to share the babysitting.  DON'T DO IT.  Get yourself positioned so you are calling all your shots.

I know MT looks good on paper when they are selling you an idea of working from home and STAYING WITH YOUR KIDS, but it doesn't work.  The mom ends up the zombie and life becomes like the twilight zone.  I know.  I tried it.  You need to get at the hospital, get daycare, get your childsupport coming in, .........and then think about moving or even buying.  In fact, if you wait, the housing prices are expected to fall even more.  There was an article in our paper about it again yesterday.  Hold off.  If you rent, if the plumbing goes, if the A/C or heater goes......the landlord is responsible.

I don't know if this will give you some things to consider but I hope so.  I raised my kids by myself (of course it was different times but the men were the same, ugh!) and at some times I didn't seem them for having to work so many hours.  I wish now I had just gotten me a State worker job, 8-5, insurance, retirement, gotten a little house even if I had gotten on a program where it was federally assisted, and gone that route.  We could have been together as a family, I wouldn't be doing this horrible life I have now with trying to still work at 60 years old with no place to live.

Think about the future - it's right around the corner.  The kids will be gone and trust me, they won't look back even if they love you lots.  They will be BUSY and you will be an afterthought.  All things in moderation.

First thing - DON'T MOVE, let him move.

Second thing - WAIT FOR THE FT JOB.

Third thing - Be getting that child support coming in.

I wish you the best.

p.s. Even if you decide you just have to move and rent even a 2-BEDROOM...it can certainly be done.  My ggg grandparents raised 13 kids in a 2 bedroom old farm house.  Kids slept all over the place!    You and the older kid could share if it's a girl/or if a boy, let him share a bedroom with one of the little ones, and you put the other little one in your room and make a game of it - they will all pitch in and later you all will have "war stories" to talk about when everbody is grown up.

Discussed this with my boss yesterday

I know this has been discussed before but how long does it take to relisten to reports that you have
typed. I know some people do that and some dont. So far I have done okay on QA but if I dont I was just wondering how much extra time per day you figure you need to relisten to reports. I usually do about 30 to 35 medium length reports acute care or 1800 to 2000 lines. What errors do you find mostly when you relisten or is it not worth the extra time it takes. Just curious.
And we've discussed this before on this board. Life is not that
simple for me. If I leave the state, I leave my elderly parents that I care for and I leave my minor children because they legally cannot cross state lines without their father's permission. He's not going to OK that. Besides, I'm happy doing MT. Who ever said I was not happy doing MT? It works great with all the family I have to care for. I just wish I hadn't wasted time and money going to college, especially when the job market in my state got oversaturated with other college grads.
Unlimited long distance...I know this has been discussed before...but..sm
just received letter from AT&T informing me that I cannot use their unlimited plan for what I am using it for, and if I continue to do so, they will charge me a per minute rate and/or remove the service.  I need to know where to go for an unlimited long distance package for transcription.  Please post and let me know what you all use.  Without unlimited, what the heck are we supposed to do? What does everyone else do?  Any help and info would be appreciated.  Thank you

I never said you shouldn't have kids! Feeling guilty? I asked WHY you had kids.
You clearly stated in your post that you ship the kids off to camp all day, and they're TIRED AT NIGHT!!  You know exactly what you said.  You said it as a PERK - AS IN GREAT! They're gone all day, it wears them out, and so I shovel dinner in their mouths and off to bed!  You can try to paint it any way you want, but YOU SAID IT.  Again, I only hope your kids never hear you speak that way or write that way. Shame on you.  Why have kids at all?  Just another parent who has them, gets rid of them for day AND night, BRAGS ABOUT IT, and then calls ME wicked!  Give me a break!  Camp is fine - its WHAT YOU SAID AND YOU KNOW IT.  Your own words showed your heart. Period.
This is strange. I just discussed a flexible on-call person
for radiology with the owner of Keystrokes, where I have worked for 4 years. We were discussing the feasibility of having someone trained on a few accounts, ready to do "x" number of reports a day without a fixed schedule, floating on a few different accounts.

If anyone is interested, please email the office. You can do so through the ads on the job seekers board.
This also involves AHDI, so I think it should be discussed here on the Main Board, not just MQ's

Not biting ... it's been discussed in heated detail on about pg 3 of this board. haha

Kids are demanding and so is MT work. My question is how CAN you do this with kids, rather than how
When you have two young kids, 11 months apart, (like I stated they are now 4 and 5) and have been doing this since they were born with no help from their father and no family around, YES, the kids get neglected. Part time might work but living on one salary, part time, is not an option. How can you possible tell me that anyone with two young kids can stay at home and work a full-time, 8-hour shift, and still give their kids the attention they NEED. I dont care how good you are at multitasking and how great your organizational skills are. It is a very difficult thing to do. And I am offended by your post making it sound as if it is easy to do.

I do agree that it can depend on how well your kids behave and how well they are able to play on their own. But my kids were not able to play well on their own. They needed constant attention.

So please take the time to realize that there are people out there in different situations than your own.

Reading our posts should help you to understand that everyone has a different situation. I believe everyone should have the right to shares their experiences as it might benefit the original poster in her questions and concerns.

I dont think anyone should be bashed for taking the time out to write about their experiences. I dont usually come on here to argue but you really ticked me off with your post. And try reading the post correctly. I said next time around I would have put them in day care. What I DID do with them was set them up to an activity like art or put on a movie for them. Geez.
Stayed "because of the kids?" I say "leave because of the kids"
You're in no position to buy right now. Keep saving, keep paying down your bills, and for heaven's sake get rid of that dead weight of a BF you're living with. You can do better.
So, should I return the $75 (x2 kids) in music cards I got the kids for x-mas...sm
My son has been telling me about free music sites and I was very leary.  How do they skirt the law Radguy?
I don't have kids, but my Mom was from the "old school," and still had everyone, kids inclu

call her by her first name.  The little neighbor girl next door from the time she could speak called her Aggie (my mom's first name), and they were great buddies until the day my mom pased away.

I don't think there really is much in a name, but more in the respect you are given and the way you are treated.   Personally, I kind of cringe inside when someone calls me Ms. Anything or God forbid, "maam" (makes me feel like Methuselah!) ... I'm always just plain Merrie.  :-)

But, as someone pointed out, to each his own.  If you want to be addressed a certain way, you have that right, and people should respect that.  I'm glad you corrected the child ... hope it "sticks."

Please do not simply give up, kids or no kids!
Talk with a professional. This can be worked through if he really puts forth the effort and you participate. The right counseling can truly make your marriage even better than it was before, if BOTH parties are willing to be honest. Give it a try. Nothing to lose at this point and everything to gain!
No I said thank God I do not have kids
I think the wrong point is being taken here. Yes he does not worry about money and is used to that. I am afraid of not making ends meet if I stop working my day job and I refuse to stop working either MT jobs as we all know it takes a lot of education to make it.
I am my kids mom

My children are lucky to have their mother taking care of them, not a stranger.  I work my butt of taking care of my kids and have made many sacrifices to be able to live this life of working PT and being a full time mother.  I know that I am my kids mom.

I know that it must be hard for you to look at your kids and tell them that you don't want them to be with you everyday.  The sacrifices could be made.

Thank God you have no kids. NM

How much can you get done with 2 kids?
I haven't done transcription for a few years and would like to get back in. My question is--if you don't mind me asking--how many lines a week can you get done with kids? Is 1000 reasonable or way out there? I have 5 kids, but 3 of them will be in school during the day and the other two nap...any advice?
For kids
Tacos, as son to work and daughter off too, and me and hubby home made wedding soup, ummm ummm good, and sweet italian sausage on hard rolls, not stale, just good.

Kids come first for both of us, then each other, I don't think I'd want a man who
and catering to me constantly. I like the fact that he does all the cooking, and most of the grocery shopping and gets me things I like w/o me having to ask him to buy them. I do the same for him. We don't get much alone time but enjoy what time we do get together. My man does a lot other men don't but doesn't act like a doormat either.
Same here... kids come first, then each other. sm
Our kids are still at home, and the kids come first. I've seen lots of other parents who put themselves/each other first, and the kids always seem to be second thoughts to them. That's not how it works in our family. We're all equally important, but the kids' needs come first. If I only have $30 and we all need shoes, the kids get them first. I wouldn't have it any other way.
How old are the kids?nm

We have three kids.

DH does his own. So do the kids.

I used to have Mount Everest on the basement floor every single day and then I just got fed up and stopped doing laundry except for my own and household items, i.e., towels, etc. Half of the pile was clean stuff that I had folded and put in the kids' rooms that they just put back in the pile when they "cleaned" their rooms.

It took them a while to adjust, but the youngest was 8 and the older ones were 12 and 17 and I left their stuff in the mountain until they realized that they couild actually work the washing machine AND the dryer. They also know if they put the washer on the extra small cycle for only one pair of pants, one shirt, one pair of socks and one pair of underwear for themselves, and I actually find it, it gets hauled out of the washer and thrown back on the pile wet.

And don't even think about not scraping AND rinsing your plate. You won't get fed.
