I will definitely try those suggestions, and...I do have a question about the baby carrier...I can't ever seem to adjust it to suit her! I'm not sure why, but she is picky about how she's held (she's a bit colicky)....Anyway,you all are just so sweet!! Thanks again!

advice needed, will you guys be my magic eight
Pay cut at the beginning of this year, cannot make the incentives I used to because my hands cannot type a lot in a short period of time. I need a 10 hour window, at least 50 hours a week. So i've been considering leaving the MT field. Trouble is, i'm about 20K in debt. There is something i've decided I want to do, a tech school, since I do not see myself going to school the next 10 years to get a degree. Problem is, the cost is 6K. The thought of delving deeper in debt makes my teeth chatter, BUT, I will be making more than I do as an MT, and my hands are in bad shape, not up to par anymore. Should I go with this, be out of the program in six months OR get a second job now to make up the loss I took with the pay cut and continue getting myself at 0 debt. Will you sweet, intelligent ladies advise me? Thanks...
Thanks so much for the insight and advice, guys, I really appreciate it, books are informative but
when you are in the at-home world like we are, there's nothing better than getting it straight from people who have been there!
You guys are SO great! Thank you again! (sm)
I have spent the morning polishing up my resume, and I must say... I think it looks pretty fantastic. I have sent out about half a dozen so far and will print some for mailing when I get out this afternoon for resume paper. You guys really helped dry my frustrated tears and feel confident that I was doing the right thing in feeling like I need to get out ASAP, even though I love my doctors.
I'm sure you won't be too shocked to hear that I have not worked a whole lot so far this morning. Funny how we're a lot more motivated to work when we're actually getting paid, isn't it? Ha ha!
I just wanted to say thanks again. I was feeling very alone last night and you guys really came through. {{{{{{{{MT Boardies}}}}}}}}}
One of the guys on Fox had a great idea and I don't
know why they are not taking him up on it. I don't know who said it because I've watched more tv in the last week than I have all year. Why not send these people to closed military bases? They have everything there that they need - barracks, kitchens, hospitals, etc.
Thanks a bunch -- you guys are great!
appreciated all the detailed input -- i too was looking at consumer's reports -- all info is helpful. Have a great day!
I have met some great guys online. Here are some links. sm
http://www.millionairematch.com
I find this to be very good.
http://www.match.com
This is for everyone, but I find millionaire match a cut above.
Don't waste your money on PerfectMatch.com as it literally is not much at all.
I would go with the above two. To me, eHarmony is no good. I've tried them all and I have met more men who are very truthful on the above two.
Hey guys! I just discovered a GREAT way to make $$$
Was just browsing a catalogue my son received from ThinkGeek and there is "Das Keyboard" which is a keyboard WITHOUT letters!!! It is $80!!! How many of us have a keyboard like this?
They have a whole bunch of cute stuff for the geek who has everything if anyone is interested.
You guys are great!!!! One final question..sm
I have got my foot pedal to work with Express Scribe. Now, how do I get the dictation over to it? I received the dictations through email attachment.
THANKS SO VERY VERY MUCH!!!
Great advice!
and by the way, I'm always amused by the "doctor's wife being the office manager" thing. What a joke. Obviously it's some insecure shrew who feels the need to keep an eye on her "investment" if you know what I mean. That's all too common, unfortunately. Same with nurses who end up "flinging" or "marrying" a doctor they met at work. "If they'll do it with ya, they'll do it to ya" in the words of Dr. Phil, and in my words, "you don't sh*t where you eat".
Great advice. Thank you.

great advice, thanks ...sm
Those are some wise words. I actually know these people and feel pretty good about whatever arrangement we agree to, but I'm sure we all know that those can turn bad as well.
Thanks for all the great advice...
Wow! Thank you all for the great advice, it really helps to get the support and advice and opinions. I have decided now to go for it... .16 per gross line and hope that the chiro's will accept that offer. If they don't agree, I guess I can then decide whether to keep the same arrangement or find something else. It's time to venture out of my comfort zone.
Thanks again, I am always so impressed by all the help here on this board!!
Thanks for the great advice. n/m
:-)
great advice
You are so helpful! I am waiting to hear back from a couple of companies re: online testing.
I am from Montana. Where do you live?
That's great advice for anyone! nm

Great advice, thank you! nightmares

why aren't you doing it?
GREAT advice, thank you! I will take it to heart!

Great advice ICMT
I said the other day I wondered how many graduates actually stick with this. When someone says "work from home" it is so appetizing to the ear that people jump on it but there is so, so much involved and it can be stressful. I've being and MT for 27 years, came right out of highscool doing so I had no training. I cried for the first 2 days! But I looked up every word that confused me and I remembered them.
OP, thre are definitely companies that hire newbies.
While starting a business sounds more like you are planning to be an MTSO, which you are not ready for, possibly you could go and get some work from local doctors who dictate on tapes and such, I have several locals that I do on the side. (Tapes not the doctors - Ha!) There was a company advertising on job board WORDSRUS that paid by the minute and I know somone that they were going to hire that applied while still in school. You might check them out. Website wordsrus.net might contact them like that.
Now there's some great advice! Funny! nm

Great advice for 2 jobs
Wow! I am about to work almost the exact same schedule and your advice really helps. I am going to think strongly about moving my second job to a different room, so it will give me a fresh outlook. Also, the idea of having a whole day off really helps too to rest up for the rest of the week. Finally actually sleeping from 7 to 12 (for me) in the morning will be a challenge, but otherwise I won't sleep at all! You made it work, and thanks for your example!
Hi! You got lots of great advice! As for $3 a page
for me, it works! Most docs pay $1 a page where I live - which is horrible to me! And the particular docs I transcribe for have "normals" set up where I might transcribe 2 or 3 paragraphs at best per report - everything is just pretyped as a normal, so I am more than happy with the $3. That's why I have the account and other's don't! Even if its 2 lines on the final page, that is a page. I tried to explain paying per line, and the doctors got glazed eyes.... I made a note myself of the brands of equipment others have recommended in lieu of Sony and Panasonic, but I must say that mine have lasted for over 2 years without a problem, and I got them used. I still wouldn't buy lots of equipment unless I had lots of $$ floating around! I have C-phones and foot pedals galore that I have bought and never used once....Well, again, good luck to you!
Thanks for all your input MTPocket,s,great advice ;-)

GREAT advice-not putting eggs...sm
all in one basket. Just leads to disaster later.
Need some good advice on a GREAT vacuum cleaner...sm
We vacuum at least twice daily because we bought carpet that tracks like you would not believe. We bought a Eureka bagless vacuum cleaner about 4 months ago and it is the pits! Does not pick up, you have to REALLY clean it every time...who knows what the real problem is...I would not mind paying good money for a GOOD vacuum cleaner that does not lose suction...Any ideas?
I think this poster has hit the nail on the head with advice -- My dogs all get along great except
when it comes to dinner, treats or toys. They have to be separated during dinner, separated to be given treats, and sorry to say, don't have much in the way of toys. The rest of the time they can be practically right next to each other and nothing has ever happened. Two of my dogs are greyhounds, so one little scratch can send us off to the vet's office, so I've learned to be very careful!
not a bit homophobic. love queer guys for straight guys.
these guys are clever and witty and have good taste. they are who they are. not a problem. i have problems with boy-men who are currently trendy now. that's my taste. and it's kind of scary that women are attracted to these unisex boy-men culturally. no big deal unless you make it one. this is a board to exchange ideas right?
Advice to YOU..1st learn to spell before insulting poster and trying to give advice...sm
Sound advice from a fellow MT if you want advice or support (sm)
I have been an MT for over 10 years. I also am getting burnt out, tired of my job, day in day. However, I do love transcription and make excellent money at it, have grossed over $50,000 per year the last 5 years. I decided to go back to nursing school and am very happy with my choice. However, over these 10 years of transcription I have had my ups and downs. My biggest issue with being at home working is lack of socialization, being home day in and day out with just the kids and the animals really gets to a person, sure hubby is home at night and thinks working from home is the easy life, thus the return to school and boy has my overall enjoyment of life changed once I realized I was the problem, not everyone else and I needed to find myself again.
Anyway, my biggest advice to you three-fold:
1. Get into counseling for yourself, find out who you are and what your needs are, whether or not you think you need to, I sense you are feeling overwhelmed and need someone other than your family to talk to that can be nonjudgmental to your feelings and needs.
2. If you're only making $100 after you pay preschool you can either keep doing it and be miserable, or quit because you are lucky enough to have a husband who can support the family without your income. (See how fast his mind changes just by losing the income you do have as to whether your job means anything.) Or look for a different company or office that you like more and are more productive if you really want to do transcription (lots of fish in the sea as far as companies).
3. Find a local "mom's" group where you can get out and socialize. MOPS (mother's of preschoolers) is an excellent one that is nationwide, they have a website. Also Mom2Mom is in a lot of areas. They provide a once a week time for moms with kids the same age to get together, socialize, (some offer spirtual guidance some don't) and each week a different mom takes a turn watching everyone else's children at the facility that hosts it so the other moms can talk about things they have in common. Every stay-at-home and work-from-home mom needs to socialize with adults, without their kids, or they will have a nervous breakdown eventually no matter how much they love their kids.
Sorry so long but it does get better but you have to take the first step at making yourself happy.
Saw him on CMT show with John Fogarty. Great, great singer with a neat personality and drop dead
gorgeous without seeming to know it.
Great post. I swear by both Advantage and Frontline Plus-- both work great! - sm
I don't know about "natural" approaches for the house. I have always used flea bombs in the past before the miracle of Advantage and Frontline changed my life. Have not had a flea problem at all since I began using those products about 10 years ago, dose all the dogs religiously once a month with the Frontline Plus except in Dec.-Feb. to save a few bucks and because the ground is generally frozen by then and no fleas are scurring about. -- Hope you get flea free soon.
WOW.. you guys should all get together....sm
and contact the Dept of Labor. If they were stupid enough to put their broken promises in writing, you have every right to start a lawsuit. We all have complaints about different companies, but what they've done is downright illegal !!!
I am sure you guys are right,
evil MQ is at it again. That must be it. LOLOL! It never ends, and yet you continue to stay there.
The spy guys in Mt. Dew ad...sm
Last year we went to a sports bar, and about 30 of them came in dressed up! The women were dressed as the white spy and men were dressed as the black spy. Mountain Dew got the idea from Mad magazine. You can probably do a Google search to see what they look like. There isn't much to the costume. I suppose someone made it for them.
how about these guys?
has anyone ever heard anything about peachtree, x-press transcription, or all-med radiology transcription?
Thanks guys. I don't know what it is
Especially this year, i'm just feeling blue and usually I can yank myself out of it. I've always hesitated taking herbs, and I think i'll just keep that on the shelf for now. That light thing i'm going to try, thank you for the suggestion. I might need to go into talk to someone too and get my meds balanced out because i'm just diagnosing myself and getting the meds off line. Probably anti-anxiety meds cause a little depression since it brings you "down" and my anxiety level is through the roof the last couple years so i've been medicating that. Thanks again guys.
Thanks guys......
All very nice comments - thanks guys!! We would not want to feel we were stealing work from you.....
You guys are definitely right.
I need to get out more. I'm just having a hard time lately. My daughter is finally in first grade, I had been trying to work things out with her father and of course it didn't. I did try online dating, but so far either I don't like them or they don't like me. That's the worst thing about this job. I do need to get out more. I went to a kid's birthday party today and was talking to a father there. I don't know if he was single or not, but it was just getting used to talking to people. Thanks for the advice. Home Depot is cheaper than dating services anyways!
Thanks you guys, I'm going to try these
I was up until 5:00 a.m. downloading and scanning with programs just to find out they were not free and then I'd have to start all over trying another one. The free ones have not been successful at removing Dealhelper yet....hopefully one of these will work! Thanks so much!!!!!
Wow, I'm not too far from you guys...
nm
Thank you guys!!!!!
Hi again and thank you all for the input. I had pretty well decided to not mention anything about the cost of printing, but just wanted to get some opinions here. Patti, I have several accounts that I type for, but have never had any ask for both digital copy and paper copy, so that's why I asked (didn't know what other people do). I am an IC so I'll just write it off with my other expenses and, oh yeah, I bought my own computer too.
Boy, you guys will never get over
That's what cracks me up
Thanks guys! That is exactly
what I needed!
Thanks guys.:)

what do you guys think?
I hate reading how some are not getting paid for the hardwork we do. Do you think if we started reporting these companies to the local news that helps the battered consumer it would help? Maybe at least give them some bad coverage. Maybe even contact the local news where the company is located.
Thanks you guys!!!
Come on GUYS!!!
Please, please, please help me out here!!! I need some advice.
Ok, so I work in-house at my local hospital. I get paid a decent wage by the hour. We get annual raises and cost of living raises. However, I have been put in charge of transitioning all of our clinics to a new dictation/transcription system and have been meeting with all of the doctors, setting up templates, meeting with the product vendors and deciding how we want to go about implementing the new system. In addition to this I have been making my minimum line count EVERY DAY. My question is...Should I ask for a raise in pay since I am doing all of this extra work for the hospital even when I have been getting annual and cost of living raises anyway? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks guys!
Thanks guys!
and I mean that from the bottom of my heart.
A lot of my weight problem is medical, but I think more so is my emotional state. I have a very emotionally abusive husband. He rides me all the time about my weight. When I was thinner (wearing a size 7 - - now wearing a size 28), he would badger me then about my weight. It got to where I was sneaking food and of course what happened? Now it is even worse. I try, I really do. I am definitely an emotional eater though.
My husband rode me and rode me and TOLD ME to get the bypass surgery. I had everything set up (this was about 5 years ago) with the surgeon who brought bypass to the United States. I felt totally comfortable with him, and to top it off he is my regular physician! Then my husband totally freaked and said that with MY LUCK, something would go wrong and he would be stuck with an invalid for a wife, and DEMANDED that I not do it. So, here I am - - a total of 160 pounds overweight -- and need to lose 70 of it by the end of February to have insurance. I get so depressed sometimes that I do not even want to get out of bed.
I am going to look into Alli and the liquid diet mentioned. I really appreciate your help and suggestions.
I definitely think I need a support group, but I don't know who that would be.
Anyway, I am going to look into these things. I think I will try the liquid diet and see how it works.
AGAIN, THANK YOU!
Thanks guys!
I really am starting to feel better about it now. My biggest fear was that my company wouldn't wait for me to get better. I don't mind doing the hard work, putting in more time, researching blanks, listening over and over and over, as long as they don't mind getting many blanks for a while ;)
I guess only time will tell. Thank you for the encouragement!
Don't know about you guys,
but I seem to operate about 90% on 'muscle memory' , which is why changing accounts is such a problem for me.
I learned to type in high school which was a loooong time ago. So after 40+ years of period-space-space I'm supposed quit it because some dilbert decides so? If this becomes a QA issue, it might be the hill I choose to die on.
