Suze Orman had a chef on her show last week ..

The girl spent $35K to go to an 18-month culinary school. Now makes $7 an hour and with interest on her $35K school debt, she is paying back $119K.

At $7 an hour, she'll have to pick up another job.

Chef's make LESS than we do! LOLOLOL

Leasing sounds like a waste of money to me. I always purchase the car outright if I can to even avoid a payment.
Suze Orman
My hero!!!
I would recommend looking into the Suze Orman
books and her show which is on CNBC (I know of Fri/Sat/Sun nights at 10:00CST) but may be different elsewhere.

I was in debt living paycheck to paycheck before reading her books and watching her show. Most is common sense. She can be a little annoying at times, just ignore that part and get the general idea.

We now have a $600,000 house with only $220,000 owed on it that is appraising at $800,000 after only 3 years, 2 fairly new vehicles (2002 and 2004) with low mileage, a summer home (cheap and small but great for weekends) and NO DEBT. My credit score is moving up (high 600s) and my DH's score is now over 700.

If we can do it, anyone can; both our scores were in the low 500s 4 years ago. It takes time, but if you follow her advice, you won't be sorry!

p.s. I wish she gave out commission for spreading news about her; I have about 15 friends and family that I have steered towards her and all are doing much better!
I love Suze Orman - sm
About 2 years ago I took on about $25,000.00 in debt from my husband.

It was rough. I then decided that I was going to get rid of it first, then get rid of him (this wasn't the first time he did this.)

Combining some information from books by Suze Orman and Dave Ramsey, I have almost eliminated that debt. I have just over $8000.00 left.

It can be done. We don't have to be dirt poor forever on what we make.

My financial freedom is only 11 more months away now and I couldn't be any happier.
Read Suze Orman's new book

on women and money. She says never put yourself on sale. She says women tend to undervalue themselves and not ask for raises, and not get paid what they are worth.

Wouldn't it be FUNNY if we could get Suze Orman
Especially if she were a "surprise"?  My heart leaps just THINKING about that.... hehe.
Well, whatever they call it now, when Suze Orman talked about
.
Do you listen to Suze or Dave? I prefer Suze myself. nm
:+
Yes--it airs at noon in the Pacific time zone after a repeat of last week's show. nm

Chef. nm

This is exactly why I want to be a chef.

Had enough of this BS.

Is there engineer week? Astronaut week? Veterinarian week?

Suze Ormon on TV advises to NEVER, EVER lease a car. (NM)

I Love Pampered Chef too
Some of their things are expensive, but there are smaller items that I have that I couldn't live without. They have these great measuring spoons and cups I just got recently and a glas mixing bowl that I use all the time, you can even bake a cake in it.
I hear ya about the Chef-Boyardee!

I don't even know how to spell it--that's fancy stuff right there!  I usually eat weeners and ramen!  I actually cooked a little roast beef and taters for the first time in MONTHS tonight!  I could eat better if I dumped my critters, but then for me, what would be the point of doing what I do?

It's hard, no doubt about it.  We have married friends back in Mass who TAKE HOME $75,000 each and each have excellent bennies. BUT, they live in a house they never get to LIVE in and they never sit down together to eat...always eat separately on the run. They've got a gorgeous yard that they hire someone else to take care of.  It's whacked...they've got a gourmet kitchen and NEVER USE IT!  When they want to take a vacation, guess where they come?  To my place here in the boonies!  How messed up is that?!

We only get one go 'round (or at least that's what I believe anyway) and we are the choices we make.  I'm thankful I've been able to make the choices I have.  I just happen to choose the beef-flavored ramen over the chicken one, and the smell of grass and manure over asphalt and exhaust.

Pampered Chef--went to a party over the-sm
weekend. She made a broccli and chicken braid. Does anyone have that recipe?  Really good.
I just had a Pampered Chef party.
My Pampered Chef lady probably has it.  E-mail me if you really want it and I'll try and get it for you.
Same here, I am thinking of becoming a personal chef. nm
xx
If you can show proof you did this work for them, they then have to show they paid it in order
:+
My DH has decided to become a Pampered Chef demonstrator.

Does anyone have any info on this?  Is it a good way to make some extra money?  I said NO, he decided to do it anyway.

My husband is not a gourmet chef and I don't have a housekeeper... SM

So consequently, cooking falls to me and cleaning the house falls to me.  My husband helps, but let's be honest husbands can sometimes be as needy as the kids.

Minnie, do you hear yourself?  You have a housekeeper, your husband cooks, your kids are grown.  That's great for you.  It sounds like you work because you want to and that's great again, but most of work because we have to.  We don't have a choice and we have to find a way to make money and be a good mom and a good wife all at the same time.  It's hard.  My kids are a priority and my paycheck is a priority, but if one of my kids wants to sit down and talk to me for a few minutes, then I'm going to listen.  If that makes me unprofessional, then I guess I am.

That doesn't mean I don't get upset with my kids when they interrupt me for silly things.  I do and they know when I'm mad, but that isn't going to stop them from doing it again, because they are, after all, just kids and what is important to them, may not seem important to me, but it IS important nevertheless.  No, I don't have them trained like dogs with the wave of my hand, but they're good kids and I am eternally grateful that I can take them and pick them up from school and I always know where they're at and what they are doing and when they'll be home.  I'm not calling from an in-office job wondering why my kids are answering the phone.  I know their teachers and friends and friends' parents.  Sure, my production may slip from time to time, but I've learned to adapt and I'm willing to sacrifice for what I view is the best reason to be an MT right now.

You can't go wrong with Suze and take her advise, cut up cards but do NOT close accts. Just don&#
:I
That is a great idea. Pampered Chef is awesome!!!
nm
I read that, too. I love to cook, too, but I wouldn't want to be a chef or caterer.
Working mostly evenings and complaining patrons. I don't know. There's this little yuppie deli downtown that I would love to open one very similar to. But would I want to do it everyday? Then again, I like gardening and canning. I could be a farmer and sell organic vegetables. Or I could sell homemade canned foods, but there's so much regulation there and worry about botulism. I also like writing. My true dream is to be a paid and published writer. I don't care about fame or fortune, just enough to be able to work a flexible schedule and support my family. My family says it's a pipe dream that everyone wants but few people get.
Don't mind candles, Pampered Chef, or Tastefully Simple. HATE Mary Kay parties! nm

Typically this week is a slow week in lots of places

because it is a big vacation week.  Typically things slow dow a bit in the summer too because people are putting off elective surgery, but at the same time lots of people going on vacation so it should balance out.

Lowest runs $900 week, highest $1400 week (sm)
Get paid 12 CPL. Been doing transcription for about 12 years.
love, love, love the show. hate american idol. this show is for real.
the only reason i entertained watching it was because of mark burnett and as usual he has such genious casting and editing. btw, don't know who anything about "metal" music but these performers make me like it. love marty and jd as performers. HATE JESSICA. susie is so nice and so emotional. it seems they all support each other and enjoy each others skills. regarding ty and bob marley, ty was excellent but he also lucked out on the song! bob marley was genious too and his music is very easy to listen to. i don't like 3/4 of what the others are given to sing but their performances make me love the music. dave navarro shines on this show, very gracious for the most part and letting the contestants down easy when they have to leave. he was great last night with brandon (?). sweet, sweet show. i am so impressed with everyone involved.
I work 6 days a week every other week

Due to my company's payroll (it runs Sun-Sat), I'm able to work a rotating schedule with every other weekend off. Week 1 I work Sunday through Thursday with Fri, Sat, Sun off.  Week 2 I work Monday through Friday with Saturday only off.  Then I'm back to week 1 and get that following weekend off.

I've found that I'm more productive with shorter shifts and I have kids in school anyway, so I work a lot of split shifts during the week.  If possible, you might want to consider cutting back your hours to 30 hours and just work five 6-hour days in split shifts, 3 in the morning and 3 in the evening.

I think this goes to show you that SM

when a person goes to another place with the proper attitude (respecting the culture already there, appreciating it and being open to new experiences) you can have a wonderful time.

I think sometimes we in the U.S. have such a need to fashion everything into OUR way of doing things it ruins our ability to appreciate different countries/cultures.

show
I love the show. I think the people learning to dance are very brave. I love George H. too! Looks like a lot of hard work and that it is definitely outside their comfort zone. Good for them!
This just goes to show you that when the
first letters are right and the last couple are right, the mistake is easily missed. No spelling police here, right!?!
It won't show up. it says
1. How much money did you make?
2. Send it to us.

Yes, I know how to show myself as
offline on instant messenger. Sorry, I misunderstood the post. That doesn't make someone stupid because they don't know how to, though. I had never even used instant messenger until about 3-4 months ago. It is a learning process and no one should ever be called stupid because they have not yet learned something.
New to the show
Only recently started watching this show. What is wrong with his leg and why does he pop all those pills?
was that the show with the...
Dumb guy and his *polyfidelity* mumbojumbo??? I just saw bits and pieces of it, but boy if that was my husband...well let's just say he wouldn't be my husband...or anyone's husband...for long! Whatta jerk!
What a show!
That guy was the biggest peice of trash I ever saw. Sometimes it just blows my mind why people as stupid as him want to come on national TV. Does he not realize he is a complete and utter fool? His wife is not much better either. UGH - She is only staying for the children and that is a shame. Honestly, I didn't really see any love between them.
About the show
I think personally that Paula is a little flaky, nevertheless, I can say I didn't notice anything different from her last night. As stated below, Carrie started the show. It was just a regular show I thought. No exciting moments, other than that nasty Brenna going home. She was pouring that "get money" thing on really thick. Kinda came off pathetic IMO. Can't wait until next time!!
There are also MTs that don't have anything to show - sm
that feel they must tear down those that do, whether they ever show it off or not. Like people that feel they must scratch or ding new cars they encounter because they themselves don't have the money to buy such.

There are bad apples on either side of the coin. But regardless of whether we have reason to brag or not, it is best we conduct ourselves so that we care about others in the process.

It should show up now, sorry.
One can never have too many friends.........

:)
She is, it is her show, and...
it is meant to attract viewers.  Which is obviously does.  My son was on her show and she was VERY fair in her decision.  We were all very happy with the outcome, not because he won but because justice was served!! and on a TV show no less!!
She will just show up at the ER and noone will
x
Just goes to show you, all the

high-falootin' education in the world doesn't give you class.  LOL

This is my new favorite show...
.
LOVE THAT SHOW
I can't wait to see it every week, big fan of INXS, and the reason why the performances are so good is because these singers were professionals to start with, what a great change from the Teeny Boppers of American Idol.  Love Mig and JD.  The show is like watching a mini concenrt and when Jordis sang that Bowie song last week, I watched it at least 10 times more on line.  Glad to see someone else loves the show.  Sadly it has not gotten good ratings, so much for class acts getting their just deserves in this fickle society we live in.
Not in my office, but just goes to show you that nothing is
x
especially when there's only bad stuff to show
I noticed that Shepard Smith on Fox (not considered a liberal news outlet) was not especially impressed with the government response to the disaster. He was desperately begging for help for people stranded for days on a bridge.
His policies seem to show that,

Great show!

Jerry Rice is good but cannot match Drew.  What's up with the gangsta rapper?  He should have gone first. He doesn't really care.  I think he should have gone first.

Rock on Drew.

If you saw the first show, it was sorta sad...
she was talking about how she's tired of men just looking at her like a hunk of meat, and that she may have actually let herself "go" so that people might look at her as something more than a body.  She says at 45 she only wants to be at a more healthy weight.  She was actually really sweet.
Not lame. It's a fun show. nm
