Blasted cold out today. It was 104 degrees last week, but it's 40 degrees today with rain.
However, I do like cozy days like today when I don't have to go anywhere. I'm done working, the house is clean, there's chili on the stove for dinner already, and I'm just putzing around. I think I'll go bake some jalapeno cheese bread to go with the chili.

RAIN, RAIN GO AWAY. PLEASE!!!
ARRRGGGGHHH!!!! It has been raining on and off since Friday. Every half hour, a downpour. We got 6 1/2" yesterday alone and it has been raining cats and dogs all night and every hour or so today. We supposedly are supposed to get 2 more days of this. 
There are people that are being evacuated from their homes, people being rescued from their cars, homes are getting flooded, roads closed, and river rescues...
We are lucky. The underground springs only washed out our driveway and the small creek turned into a raging river and flooded our storage trailer, but I feel really bad for the volunteer firefighters. They are getting called out left and right.
On top of this, there have been fires and now the electric is going on and off. PLEASE, someone wave their magic wand and stop this. We are waterlogged.

trees are dying, leaves are falling early (started coming off in droves about 2 weeks ago), ground is rock hard......maybe some slight bit of good can come out of it if those that just need some rain get it.

Not just high temps every day but no rain in nearly 2 months where I am!
It was 109 here yesterday with the heat index! A hot, gusty wind was blowing so hard that from inside I thought surely it must be raining, but it was the trees swaying, their dry leaves rustling. Corn crops here are a total loss, and I hear cotton is not far behind. Someone do a rain dance, please!

But, Niagara Falls is always beautiful no matter what time of year. It's actually cheaper to stay there in the winter than the summer.
You gotta pick anywhere where you can just focus on each other and let the world go on without your for a night, a couple days, a weekend, maybe a week (yeah right) whatever.

We had some storms with heavy rain yesterday but did not make a dent
in the dryness. The past few years we have been saturated with it raining constantly. Last year we were 40 some inches over the norm for rain at one point. This year dry as a bone and hot as heck. The little bit you get through the thunderstorms has not made a dent in our need for rain. The river is low.
The weather pattern is so strange.

Wow, we are having one heck of a thunder and lightening storm from the heat, finally started to rain
some.....gonna hit 105 here in VA (near Richmond)....yikes! Hope we don't lose power, have 1 stand fan and 1 window fan if power does go (have a generator) but still, way to little for such heat. Our poor AC is gonna blow (along with the electric bill).

HELP with Shorthand. Suddenly today when I tried to start work today.sm
my ShortHand would type only the first letter of an expansion and then take all the letters away! I checked and the Type It button is grayed out! I have restarted the computer and looked on the Shorthand Help menu but can find nothing that applies. Can anyone please help me ASAP? I am lost without it! TIA

But this article states it would only affect new customers right now. So I am upset over nothing. I went through heck with BellSouth when they charged me a surcharge of an extra 50 a month and then would write a letter saying I had to switch to a long distance service and pay by the minute because of my "excessive" use. They told me the unlimited charge was for an average of an hour a day not somebody who worked out of their home and I needed to switch a business plan at over 200 a month charge. I switched over to cable because of that and then to read that cable was going to charging on a per use fee and not a flat monthly fee it upset me. It is the nature of our work, VR, only paying for VBC, having headers and footers taken away, now being charged for being on line, etc. It just seems that everything is done to keep to insure less money.
A nice sunny room just for me in our finished lower level. Love my cocoon room.

Proficient Transcription? There have been numerous complaints about this so-called company. They may be under a different name by now but the owner's name was Donna. She had people give her money to buy equipment they could buy themselves and then would give them next to nothing in terms of work and then not pay for what they did. Just curious if this was the same.
IMO...not a chance. No way, no how.
I beat VR with my own standards and templates, but it's still nowhere near that. On the most excellent of days with the perfect dictators and best templates I can get 550/hour. But again..that's a lot of template/expander help.

Isn't it just possible that after all is said and done, and after all the changes, MQ may very well be a much better company to work for? Perhaps closing all these millions of branches (and the wildly different management styles, i.e. Columbus versus Amherst) will result in a more streamlined, consistent company where there is consistency across the board? Trimming the fat can be a good thing, U know. Personally I think Amherst is on borrowed time - a soon-to-be relic of the bad old days when nothing was done the same way from branch to branch. After all the dust settles, MQ just MIGHT be an excellent place to work again - but at least we should hear them out and give them the chance to prove it. Just my 2.5 cents...

Or do you mean just because it gets dark early because of the time change. I've heard of people in Alaska with the night being so long using that light for depression, but that's really the only time I've heard of it.

with my pets. Cats are felines. Dogs are canines. Two different species. What works on one "could" kill the other in some instances. Just check pet poison control centers. Maybe same chemicals in some instances, but different formulas entirely.

I agree with you. You only get one chance
to make a first impression. If 5 people come in for the job all w/the same credentials, I would pick the one w/the neatest appearance. At K-Mart he's probably going to doing something where customers can see him. I insist on my son wearing clean, pressed slacks or jeans and a shirt w/a collar.

stay production if the pay per hour was around $15 with no opportunity to make more per hour or as an employee with incentive and all you were making a minimum of 9.5 cents per line? Is it better to make a little less but know exactly what you are going to make each week or just go for the ability to make more and hope you are able to stay productive. Thanks.

she has to start somewhere. If you are as good as you say then you will be an excellent trainer for her and will be rewarded for teaching her the ropes. IMHO you sound kind of threatened by this and I have to wonder why. Be nice and help her along in becoming great transcriptionist.
