Sounds like an account I work on locally

can ya try to focus on ONE thing. I know I would NEVER go to this doctor. He's not sure if he did a colonoscopy or an endoscopy??? Scary.

Work locally so it's different
I work for a nephrology office and I'm assigned to five doctor's. I do their work in the 8 hours that I have to put in each day. If the doctors (the ones I work for) all have the day off (and it's happened), then I don't have to work at all. That's my favorite part. LOL.
I feel your pain, and you are DEAD ON on how that account sounds!!
: (
Same thing with nationals. You work all the time to keep the account caught up when others dont work
and then when they decide to put a whole lot of extra people on your accounts and run you out they could care less about how much you worked.
steady work...gearing up to start new account....but there was no work on Tues as it was a holiday
Be patient with your eyes open....
Sounds like where I work. Everyone morning I wake up to not enough work. I'm quitting
This has been going on for a few months so I don't know if they have overhired or just sent a lot of it to India. I just know I can't sit here everything day waiting until "volumes build up." I'm looking elsewhere.
Buy it used, got my V5 for $500 locally- nm
x
can you ask for another account to work on? SM
that's what i did. it was too much fretting over whether there was work.
companies won't wake up and stop doing anything. you will have to do it for yourself unfortunately.
You might not work on the account, but YES
x
I can work all I want. I don't have to account
for my hours.
Convince to go locally
Anyone have any good answers to this question:
Why should I (physician) let you to do my dictation(local person) VS hiring a National Company to do? Any help would be appreciated. Trying to prove to Dr to choose me instead of the leech-like Nationals that are only out for themselves and taking advantage of this profession that once was valued before they came along and started slave labor.
Convince to go locally
Are you a physician looking for someone to do your trascription? If I were you, I would go locally if you want quality.
Been offered a job locally....sm
the pay is 0.06/line and includes all characters, spaces etc. Says that this amounts to about 0.09/line in the end ??
I work on an account that still has tapes and ...sm
it is a very profitable account. The line count is twice as good as several of the accounts I have that are digital. To each their own, but there are many doctors out there who do not want to go digital and you will find when they do you might just lose them to VR, as I lost a very good account to that because they figured out how to do it themselves. If the account pays on time, the doctors are easy to understand, and they pay you a good line rate then go for it, tapes or digital.
Well, I work for a national, but my account
is a big hospital, doing acute work. It was a heck of a way to learn starting off, but I know it will benefit me in the long run, just one of those days!
Closing in on my 2 years now, I thought about maybe applying at a hospital inhouse here that hires starting out at $20, but once you add all the expenses (not counting any deductions), you come out to about the same. It's just not worth it. It would probably be less stress considering I would work set hours instead of all the crazy ones I have been doing, but then you have to add in at least 2 hours of drive time to that each day. It evens all out I suppose.
The company I work for has one account
that does not want IV at all. They have programmed their VR software to expand out IV, much to the consternation of cardiologists when they dictate IV conduction time and the MT doesn't catch it.
I've done all 3 x10 + PT employee locally
x
Unless you are working locally, where you live
has nothing to do with what you make. National MTSOs have their own pay scales, everyone is different.
Is it possible some of the account work is going overseas. MQ does offshore you know.
:
I agree, it depends on who you work for BUT also the account
and how long it has been on VR. If it has been on VR for a few years, piece of cake. If it is just starting out on VR - tedious work, low pay as it takes longer to edit than to just transcribe it.
I have been doing VR editing for 4 years now with an account that has been on it that long also...can make up to $50 an hour, and some times as low as $30 an hour when we add new dictators.
Hope this helps.
Or why not hire an IC to work on the account under you? You found it
and it is your reputation and bidding that sealed the account, why not ask IC's to BID on it. You might find somebody who loves derm work and wants the money. Even if you only make 1-2 cpl over your IC it adds up.
I work on an account that just came back from India sm
They had an outsourcing company that sent their stuff to India. They were so unhappy, they brought the account back to be done by AMERICAN MTS.
But the poster below me is right, the government IS doing something, they are making it easier and more financially rewarding to go overseas. One day and sooner than later, the American worker will be so poor and so economically depressed that America will no longer be able to import goods/services from overseas because we can't afford them. By that point, we'll be gardening in our window boxes and stockpiling foods that we will no longer be able to have or afford.
The tip of the slippery slope towards another Great Depression.
Anyone work for Sacred Heart or PeaceHealth as an account
Any advice on these I might need to know before I start?
I work in Meditech for a radiology account and have no lag time. sm
There are a few things to try that might help. The first is to try to go through an NT connection if possible through their Citrix. Another is: Disable your virus protection, log in and re-enable the virus protection. I have found this solved my problem.
I am also answering your cut and paste question from your other post: It is HIPPA as the possibility of putting the wrong report on the wrong patient exists. However, I would go above or beyond your company's IS dept (they tend to be the most paranoid) and go to a production person such a Lead or Coordinator or even MTSO. If they are MTs, they tend to be more sympathetic and will often allow cut and paste when IS will not. If you are the only person experiencing this, IS is not going to be too diligent in helping. Worst case scenario? Ask for another account. Sometimes it is an account-specific, computer-specific problem, almost like putting the wrong size tape in a tape player.
work for hospital account - use lots of expanders - nm

I bought a Dell because I got a better deal than buying locally.
I got the computer, Windows XP, WordPerfect, other software, a photo printer and a digital camera shipped to my door for $398. However, I worked as a computer technician for several years, so I know I can add components, fix it, or upgrade as needed. I don't like the fact that Dell offshores so many jobs, because they totally forced technical pay rates down, laid off thousands of American workers, and forced computer prices down. However, I figured they'd be losing money on this deal if I just bought their basic system on sale with nothing added. Some guy from India called wanting to sell me an extended warranty and service plan. I told him NO because I can do all of that myself, as well as working any job at their company. I didn't want to buy locally because most of the local computer stores are staffed by idiots. There's a high rate of bankruptcy and computer stores going out of business here, then they won't honor their warranties.
Wasnt that a rip. They must have called every person on every account to work. I cant possibly
figure that mentality. PLUS we get nothing extra for weekends, nothing extra for holidays ZIP. They overload the accounts and so we have no work. Why would they pay weekends or holidays when they play this game. Somebody is pocketing something but it AINT THE MTs. I hope every MT in that office inundates Mt. Laurel with complaints until they replaced the people that did this and not to mention their STUPID STUPID PICKY MQ point plan. That is a horrendous joke. Somebody up there needs to be removed and quickly.
I work an account where ESLs are better than the American dictators ever hoped to be. sm
There is bad dictation all over - you need to learn to cope with what is out there. Don't be afraid of the ESLs - you can only do what you can do, and for even American dictators, there is just no hope for the report coming out flawless if it is a bad dictator. I have 25 years experience, and there is just the fact of the matter that if junk goes in, junk is going to come out, and experiences helps with figuring out the words, but some words are so badly mispronounced, there is no hope of figuring them out. Blanks are inevitable, but that is why we have QA - they are the next level after the MTs get the rough draft out there. It pays to have a second set or third set of ears, and it is part of the plan - it is not all on just you to get it right on the problem dictations.
I got my computer locally so as not to deal with Dell and Fed Ex etc. I have a flat panel and I
think it is okay but not as clear as the regular monitors. I think if you pay a fortune for an LCD you get great clearness but with the 3 or 400 dollar ones it is adequate. I live in PA also. I got it because it is better for your eyes.
If you decide to pursue your own accounts/doctors locally, how/what software sm
do you use for internet transcription. Do not want to pick up work as it may be several hospital versus one facility. Where do you buy software like this or does the hospital provide this? Unsure, new venture for me.
I work an account that the doctor names scare you half the death, sm
all foreign names, but the voices are pure heaven - very clear and good enunciation, even the one that have a tangible accident. I feel lucky to have an ESL account like that.
I know a PA from South Carolina at a hospital I used to work at that would bring you to tears. ESL is not necessarily a bad thing.
Sounds like you work for
as this is what they do.
Sounds like you may work for
This is the kind of "stuff" they pull.
sounds like where I work
and that all sounds great except that I'm only QA'd on 4 reports A MONTH that are sent to QA for feedback anyway and I have been double dingled (same error in 2 different categories) to teach me that QA is getting too many reports and needs everyone to send less to them.
How can you make 98+% that way? In 10 plus years I have never had a failing QA score. Heck, until the last 2 months, I never had a failing score without having changed jobs! When I go to other MT companies and apply, I get scores averaging above 98%, even was asked to consider the QA manager position when I applied as an MT for one job as I had their highest score on their test.
Whatareyagonnadoaboutit? Eh?
Sounds like where I work (sm)
Except I wasn't the one asking for a raise, someone else did, but upper management felt the need to share it with me for some reason.?
Sorry to hear they let you down. Have you tried searching elsewhere or getting your own clients?
Sounds like it should work. Try it and see.
nm
sounds like someone i used to work with sm
she was so upset because the dictating doctor's tone sounded to her like he didn't care about the person he was dictating about. I just looked at her like she was a loon.
Sounds like you work for
the same people I work for that I just gave notice, too. He made me feel like crap one too many times, and I finally started looking for another job. Once I found one that had higher pay, more flexibiity, and direct deposit, I turned in my notice. He acted like it was a federal crime and turned it into something personal when it was just a business decision on my part to work in a situation better suited for me. He, of course, doesn't realize the time and sleep I have sacrificed for his work and doesn't appreciate it at all. MTSOs needs to remember that we are people, too. God bless!
sounds like you work for MDI-MD
MDI-MD pays well, 9-11 cpl. Also, Webmedx, TransTech, and First Choice Medical all have better line rates than the average national. Some of those are employee positions and some are not.
The national I work for usually offers jobs to the in-house people when they acquire an account. nm

I went to the Red Cross to volunteer locally and was told that I needed to apply to the state for a
background check, which will take from 2 weeks to a month to get back. I understand red tape as well as the next person, but is this really necessary? They are asked for people to help load trucks and pack and sort supplies right now, but only from people who are already in "the system." I guess I'll go another route and go to one of the local churches and volunteer, without the red tape.
When buying a new computer would you use a company locally that builds new computers or go with Dell
or a large outfit like that. This local company has been around awhile. Not sure what to do about buying a new computer that is going to be compatible with just about all MT jobs.
Sounds great but there is no work!
Well, I tried posting but it disappeared. Will just say I show up to work but there isn't any (have several accounts). So the bonus which is what I consider my "sick leave" - is not attainable. So much for working for MQ. And now I hear of more accounts they are losing. But they never tell the MTs.
Sounds like where I used to work year ago! - sm
My mom and I worked together at a research and analytical lab/supply co. We had to arrive at 7:45 (regular hours were 8-5 with an hour for lunch) and my mom had to "clock" in everybody to check that they came in on time and submit it weekly to the boss/owner. You had to give blood to get OT and you had to do above and beyond your job about 200%. The company "rules" were pretty stupid the things we were not allowed to do. If you got a personal call (and I do agree work is not the place for personal calls but emergencies do happen) it was "logged in" and you had to sign a slip saying you received a personal call, its nature, if it was an emergency, etc. As for raises, rarely, once every 4-5 years if you were lucky. If you asked for one he would tell you to go find another job, a real sweethart. Morale sucked there to say the least. I wore so many "hats" it wasn't funny. I made peanuts too in comparison to all that was expected of me. After I quit (left to get married and move to another state) my replacement was hired at twice my salary (she was about twice my age too but she was the boss's right arm's wife) and did about a 10% of my job (nice for her). My mom stuck it out for about 5 more months before she quit. The boss was just a plain jerk and took it personal that I quit (I'd been there PT and FT for 13 years) and also threatened a law suit when I moved and got a job with a "competitor" (a much smaller lab/supplies company). The law suit fell through of course after he saw the confidentially agreement I signed which made no mention of working for competitors.....he quickly revised that of course screwing future employees...we are not talking about a multimillion dollar company (not even a million a year). So as much as the above is a joke, there are bosses/companies out there like that.....
It sounds like your work really intensely, and so do I. sm
At least every hour, take 10 mins out, go outside, just breath the air. Stay out there for 10 mins, the go back a make a great lph rate for another hours. It works for me. I absolutely cannot work 2 hours without a small break. There is no point to it.
Sounds like the hospital I work for
I would think you applied there. Anyway, we get paid by production in-house at 9 cpl. Only time hourly pays is when we take time-off, equipment malfunction and of course meetings. The only thing I don't like is that the hourly people (coders, clerks) dont' understand that and want to visit and get offended when we tell the we have to work.
That sounds so great- where I work
the chairs are unbelievable- they are horrible. They will special order a better chair for you if you need it but it takes like 3 months, and it is always the same kind of chair from the same place and if it doesn't work for you, oh well. The seat pan doesn't adjust, and it needs to. They pay 1200 bucks for these chairs, when they could get a dozen better ones for the same price.
Wouldn't you think a hospital of all places would understand the importance of ergonomics for their employees?? :rolleyes
Interestingly the conference rooms have wonderful chairs and I usually snag one at night and just put it back when I leave.
sounds like we work for the same place...sm
I have been with the same company for about 5 years now. What I do is take the first letter of each word for a phrase and make an expander. Ex: The patient was admitted to the hospital, I make the Expander with tpwatth. I have found this the easiest on the platform I use as I was not sure if anything like InstantText or others would work. You don't have to assign the expander to a specific dictator so this helps with the "generic phrases". For medications that are capitalized, I also make an expansion. Ex: Tylenol is expansion tylenol. Also have them for drugs that are the same prescription all the time, aspirin 81 mg daily is a81, aspirin 325 mg daily is a325, aspirin 81 mg p.o. daily is a81p. I even made it for when it is capitalized in a list, Aspirin 81 mg daily is aa81. Every little thing helps. I do have expansions for doctors that say the same thing over and over, I just make sure I proofread very carefully. Try to use abbreviations you can remember. I even have them for b.i.d., etc.
That sounds like a company I used to work for....
that paid monthly and it was NEVER on time. Checks bounced, 1099's late, and excuses after excuses. I even had to threaten a lawsuit to get paid my final check! I would certainly not quit your other company before you have some time under your belt with the new company to see how things are going to be.
He sounds like a piece of work - sm
I'd tell the wife, sure go ahead find someone else who will put up with all this garbage. I would give them a new updated fee schedule, effective immediately, up your page rate, a flat fee per page, none of this half/third stuff, and start charging for your time for the loading and converting of files. If it takes an hour, charge $20. That is something his people there should be doing, not you. As for the corrections, again his people should be doing that, not you. As you said, everyone makes mistakes. Regarding the doctors names, keep a notebook or something with the correct spellings that you can refer to. I use a small address/phone book and put them in under A, B, C, etc. So when my doctors say referring doc, I just whip open my book and saves me a lot of time from looking it up on the internet. If I cannot find a doctor name/address I simply let the office know that they have to fill that in since I could not find it. ---But this guy sounds like a real skinflint, so I would up the rates as above, if they don't like it then I guess they can just go and find out the hard way that they had quite a deal with you.
Sounds like my work life...
I hear you loud and clear! This sounds just like my job too, so I know how frustrated and unappreciated you feel. Hugs to you my friend!
Sounds like the company I work for.
Not only do they have various account specs but I get samples but NOT the dictators! What good does that do me?
