Sorry, I don't know about this

but it wouldn't surprise me that these things happened.  I've worked in DC.  I see how things get covered up, brushed aside, purposefully ignored.  I've seen first-hand how money and notariety are the ruling factors in so many decisions by people who by their professions are supposed to help the ordinary Joe but ordinary Joe has no chance unless he is rich (in which case he is no longer an ordinary Joe) or his case will make the headlines and bring in more business and fame for the professional.  There used to be a sense of right and wrong.  Whistleblowers used to be taken seriously.  Now, the focus is on self and not others.

It's a global economy now, not national.  We send out our work, they give us things we want and those things are determined by the policymakers on the Hill and big business with big bucks.  Demonstrations in DC on the Hill are about as commonplace as the pigeons and get about as much attention.  A few handshakes with the representatives, a few nice words to the group crafted by a staff employee, and on to the next item of the day.  It's who you know that matters and of what kind of character they are made.

We can be careful who we vote for from city council up to President.  We can try to get people in office who favor the little guy.  But they can get swallowed up in the mass of the others and all the red tape.  The Hill can change people pretty quickly--peer pressure among other things.

There is more going on than we are seeing.  I don't know what it is, but I know that's how it is from working for these people for years.  We need people on the Hill with backbone who will fight for us, fight to keep American jobs in America.  I honestly find myself wondering how much of what is happening in our industry is really about healthcare and the good of the patient, or is it just a means to do business with other countries who have assets that those in power want for one reason or another.
