Many Vista woes are caused by the User Account Control. You can turn this off. Many times the computer will act like XP if you do.

Go to Control Panel>User Accounts and click the link for "Turn User Account Control On or Off". Follow the prompts in order to turn it OFF and see if that helps.

All my programs now work as intended, anyway.
